One of the disks was broken -> (most likely) using to much power. The data was still accessible when running only on one disk (disk 1 or disk 2) but not both. Adding another disk worked only with disk 1 in my case, with disk 2 I had the same effect.
Solution: Both disks are replaced by new disks under warranty. Great job of the store Wifimedia, Arnhem the Netherlands!
