Check out a shuttle launch for the same effect. They both go up and both look 'slow' from a distance. You can even see the flame of the rocket burning!

The things that make me think its the latter is the density of the plume, compared to all other photos of contrails doing the same thing it's a lot thicker. The sun could be reflecting off the bottom of the fuselage like you say but why then does the light expand in a green flash at the end of the video, that's more like it being neutralised after a test.

@bentonharborraised It is not flying straight up, it is flying towards you slightly and the earth is round. You can see a plane at crusing alltitudes from hundreds of miles away on a clear day. People perception of distance of an overflying aircraft is horrible because there is no reference to the ground they can use to judge. This plane is very far away. Please read and look up the videos in my comment people. For this to have been a missle the contrail would have to be much much smaller.

@subsonictonic It is just that the space shuttles Solid rocket booster engines combined are going to be larger than any modern day missle so the exahust trail should be the largest. Comparing the shuttle launch from a similar distance to the alleged missle launch (40-50 mi?) the base/bottom of the missles contrail is HUGE compared to what the shuttle produces. This would of had to been an extremely large missle to produce a contrail this large, but a planes contrail can be spread by high winds
Ok, I see what you're getting at now, but I can't believe that it's possible for a plane's contrail of water vapour (which is meant to dissapate failry quickly) can be larger than the exhaust particulate left behind from a solid state or any other rocket for that matter. I used to analyze contrails all day and among the largest ones I saw, they never dispersed quite like this. The large base of the cloud could be from a launch, where the rocket is moving slowly but pumping out fumes.
It also looks extrememly fast. And take note of the density of the aerosol - not only what's immediately coming out the rear of the craft in question, but even lower down - it's thick like smoke. Contrails take a long time to spread out like that, and by the time they do, they're gone. Rockets on the other hand behave in exactly that way. As it climbs into the night sky, you can make out the flames. If the media wanted you to know the answer, they would have shown you more of the footage.
@subsonictonic following up my pervious comment. The "missles" contrail is larger than any shuttle contrail seen from 30 to 200mi away. That is why i believe it is an aircraft flying over the horizon and the contrail is just being spread by the upper level winds as it flies along. Optical illusion of it flying "straight up" due to the curvature of the earth. Also at 35000ft on a thoeretical perfect clear day you can see almost 230mi. This plane is a lot farther away than people think.

More than likely some spy satelite or something. The vapor trail behind it seems a bit to large for a conventional missile. @bentonharborraised It is not flying straight up, it is flying towards you slightly and the earth is round. You can see a plane at crusing alltitudes from hundreds of miles away on a clear day. People perception of distance of an overflying aircraft is horrible because there is no reference to the ground they can use to judge. This plane is very far away. Please read and look up the videos in my comment people. For this to have been a missle the contrail would have to be much much smaller.

Whould you agree that the Space Shuttle is larger than any current day missle?..yes? look up youtube vids of shuttle launch from Palm Bay (35mi), Orlando(40mi), Daytona(50mi)...to close? try Jacksonville (130mi), Miami (200mi),This contrail is way too wide and streched to be a missle, a plane flying at a shallow viewing angle does this.

@subsonictonic It is just that the space shuttles Solid rocket booster engines combined are going to be larger than any modern day missle so the exahust trail should be the largest. Comparing the shuttle launch from a similar distance to the alleged missle launch (40-50 mi?) the base/bottom of the missles contrail is HUGE compared to what the shuttle produces. This would of had to been an extremely large missle to produce a contrail this large, but a planes contrail can be spread by high winds

Ok, I see what you're getting at now, but I can't believe that it's possible for a plane's contrail of water vapour (which is meant to dissapate failry quickly) can be larger than the exhaust particulate left behind from a solid state or any other rocket for that matter. I used to analyze contrails all day and among the largest ones I saw, they never dispersed quite like this. The large base of the cloud could be from a launch, where the rocket is moving slowly but pumping out fumes.

It also looks extrememly fast. And take note of the density of the aerosol - not only what's immediately coming out the rear of the craft in question, but even lower down - it's thick like smoke. Contrails take a long time to spread out like that, and by the time they do, they're gone. Rockets on the other hand behave in exactly that way. As it climbs into the night sky, you can make out the flames. If the media wanted you to know the answer, they would have shown you more of the footage.

@subsonictonic following up my pervious comment. The "missles" contrail is larger than any shuttle contrail seen from 30 to 200mi away. That is why i believe it is an aircraft flying over the horizon and the contrail is just being spread by the upper level winds as it flies along. Optical illusion of it flying "straight up" due to the curvature of the earth. Also at 35000ft on a thoeretical perfect clear day you can see almost 230mi. This plane is a lot farther away than people think.

More than likely some spy satelite or something. The vapor trail behind it seems a bit to large for a conventional missile. I mean seriously if you were going to launch an inter-continental missile as some people say it is. you would make as little vapor trail as possible so that the enemy could not find it.

This reply is to nakedladymudflap...If it was indeed a jet, why did the FAA deny that it was on radar or flight plans, why was the military interested ( refer to video and see the Chinook in the foreground) and why would a Jet of any kind have a contrail that was so erratic? In my digiscoped video from new year's eve 2009, we watched the same thing through binoculars and through the barska spotter scope... His rational was pretty weak and I had to wonder if we'd seen the same video. I'm really not a conspiracy theorist but I had to wonder if this guy was merely a shill for some cover-up.
