the only known plane to have a "Gatling Cannon", not just any Gatling gun. To me, with the gun having half of the plane's length means its a flying cannon. must be an amazing feeling having to fire a huge rotating cannon right under your feet. hahaha
This gun shoots radioactive waste (depleted uranium du rounds) molded into bullets. Breathe in that depleted invisible uranium dust that has a half life of several thousand years, from these melting and disintegrating rounds, when you go inspect that killed tank, or are just sleeping downwind at your base, or years later, it don't matter. Come back to the states fucked up with respiratory cancer, loiter outside the VAH in a wheel chair sick as a dog, your lawyer having to sue to get benefits.
1/2 life of U 238 is about 4.5 BILLION years. Not thousand. It's not very radioactive and poses no threat if not ingested. It's chemically poisonous- heavy metal and all, and as an alpha emitter, it's definitely bad juju should you ingest it. The powdered metal is pyrophoric, meaning is catches on fire in the atmosphere without a spark. Bad as it is, it's far from the nastiest thing on the battlefield.

If I had to choose any aircraft in the air force id pick this one. It is one of the most durable, smooth flying, and powerful planes. Haha just love the gatling gun too.

@taofledermaus it can fly with one engine, one vertical and horizontal tail wing, and almost all of both wings gone. this thing is practically indestructible.
@taofledermaus its designed with multiple redundant systems to keep itself up in the air. it can fly with severe structure damage such as one engine, half a tail, and missing half a wing. also, the landing gear fold forward, so if there were damage to the mechanisms, gravity could help along with wind to pull and lock them down. if that doesnt work, the wheels stick out far enough that it can belly land safely
@Braeden123698745 thanks for the info ,, it does not surprise me ,,, i thought that the dc3 and the sr71 would be the only all time favs for me ,, but the moment i saw the A-10 it joined the list
@BulletBlazerSS thanks for the reply ,, ,i can never get enough info on the a10 ,,, and yes ,, the genius that put the very short supports on the engines gave it such stability with engine gone ,, i can believe that as well
@heettreet -- yes it can survive on one engine, redundancy in cable system if hydraulics are lost. avionics specialist on this plane for 5 years. amazing aircraft ..
@heettreet It can fly on one engine. It can also fly with half the tail gone and pretty big chunks of the wing missing. The flight controls are redundant and the pilot sits in a titanium "bathtub." The A-10 was designed to fly in the weeds taking all kinds of fire and bring the pilot back home.
@heettreet The A-10 is designed to saunter into a fight, knock some fools out, and still limp back home. It has triple-redundant control systems, the engines are paired with the rudders to mask the IR signature, and the engines are externally mounted so that should they take a hit, the engine can fall off without risking further damage to the aircraft. This is truly a wonder from the Cold War era.
@heettreet yes it will as a matter of a fact many were shot to piece in the first go around with iraq that they limped in being towed in flight by refueling birds becuase of fuel lose and some even came back with out engine or tail fins it was made to be punished and kick ass and with new mod's its only became a more formidable foe
@heettreet A friend of mine was a Structural Repair and Maintenance guy for the Air Force. They can survive with only one engine. In addition, every system has secondary backups so you could shoot the the thing to hell and it would still fly great. The cockpit is also a titanium, bullet-proof capsule to protect the pilot.
@heettreet Yes they can, they have been known to fly and still land safely with an engine out and even with hydraulics out and leaking. A-10 is a superb aircraft.
@heettreet Yes it can fly with one engine out and I think with a damaged remaining engine. It's able to do this because the craft can actually rudder pivot and slice through the air at an angle. Imagine the Heisman trophy. This ability also allows it to lose parts of its wing. "The flying bathtub."
@Back7sword The file was about 17mb and I recorded for about 15 seconds. When played back, the length of the high speed footage is 5 minutes long. I sped up a few parts of this to keep the length of the video down. I recorded about 15 different shots during the flight of the A10 so I have a TON of footage of it, well over an hour of video. It's hard to pick out the good stuff out of that!
@taofledermaus 17meg's not that bad. At what Res? I have a HD camcorder that shoots at 50FPS but this is something I could really use. I never made the move to Digital SLR so have really missed out. I'm going to try and buy a Canon 7D this summer. Look forward to experimenting.
@Back7sword It's a small resolution, 432 x 192. If the shot you take doesn't look good at that small native size, it really will look bad when you resize it to a larger size. You don't have a lot of resolution to work with and it is hard to keep objects like this in frame when you are zoomed in.
i flew an a-10 until i was sent to f-22 school. i still think the a-10 is my favourite. its a tough mans plane. you dont mess with an a-10 ! i flew over my ex girlfiends home in and and now shes in hell frying with her boyfriend..
@mrbadx19 I'd love to see this plane drop bombs or fire that cannon! That has to be the coolest thing. The sound this plane makes when it is flying is one of the eeriest noises I've ever heard. Just raises the hair on the back of your neck... so cool!
@SlaveZero1234 It's really hard to tell the difference. Some of the planes I filmed are SO perfect and shiney that they could be mistaken for a tiny RC plane taken right out of the box. On top of that the high speed really distorts reality too!
Oh look, it's a gun with wings :)
THe soundtrack is just friggin awesome!

@heettreet Indeed it can fly without an engine. My uncle was an A-10 pilot and he said it is the most underated jet he's flown!

@heettreet can even fly with upto 10 feet of a win missing too.

@heettreet The aircraft is designed to fly with one engine, one tail, one elevator and half a wing torn off.I love THe A-10

@heettreet Yes. In fact, that's why it has two. If one goes out the other can get it home.
m0nkey1eader 3 months ago

@heettreet God damnit bf3! lol jking bf3 can barely capture 1/10 of the beauty of this beast!

@heettreet The A-10 can not only fly with 1 engine, it can fly missing upto 1/3 of its wings and only 1 tail fin. A flying tank!

@heettreet It can fly with an engine out. These things are built like tanks.

@heettreet
Not only CAN it, it has. As well as with pieces of it's airframe blown off. Some people think it's an ugly plane, but I love it.

@heettreet Yes they can, they have been known to fly and still land safely with an engine out and even with hydraulics out and leaking. A-10 is a superb aircraft.
DairyProduct 3 months ago
@heettreet It will still fly with one engine half a wing missing and all the fuel lines cut (it has four).
ledzeppelinfan1968 3 months ago
@heettreet yes the warthog is designed to fly with one engine out and missing most of its wings.
things a beast

@heettreet Yes it can fly with one engine out and I think with a damaged remaining engine. It's able to do this because the craft can actually rudder pivot and slice through the air at an angle. Imagine the Heisman trophy. This ability also allows it to lose parts of its wing. "The flying bathtub."

You weren't kidding about slow mo. You did this on a still. How much mem did you use?

Thanks for the swift reply

@Back7sword It's a small resolution, 432 x 192. If the shot you take doesn't look good at that small native size, it really will look bad when you resize it to a larger size. You don't have a lot of resolution to work with and it is hard to keep objects like this in frame when you are zoomed in.

If you are on the ground and NOT wearing the stars and stripes, you're going to want NO PART OF THAT. Run like a little girl.

@mrbadx19 I'd love to see this plane drop bombs or fire that cannon! That has to be the coolest thing. The sound this plane makes when it is flying is one of the eeriest noises I've ever heard. Just raises the hair on the back of your neck... so cool!
taofledermaus 1 year ago
@taofledermaus at 70 rounds per second you'd need one hell of a camera!

Haha, see everyone thinks those are all RC planes! XD
SlaveZero1234 1 year ago
@SlaveZero1234 It's really hard to tell the difference. Some of the planes I filmed are SO perfect and shiney that they could be mistaken for a tiny RC plane taken right out of the box. On top of that the high speed really distorts reality too!
taofledermaus 1 year ago
@taofledermaus Yeah, now you just need to take your RC plane and make it look like a real one! XD
