Look at all the kids claiming their faster, and that this should be more... 6.5/7 sec 0-60 is more than enough fun, and wont be in the junk yard after some kid kills it in 10,000km. @MrSevvo what?!?!?! 0-60 10 SEC ON A 2.8 vr6? That is SLOW!!! the manual time is a bit better but from a 2.8 vr6 I would expect more. Till feb I had a 86 GTI that did 0-100kmh (0-60) in 8.5 completely stock (manual) I heard that for the money and engine size the vr6 isnt that much better than a gti but damn, I didnt know it was that slow... Then on the other hand if you prefer top speed the vr6 kills a gti :)

yeah man i dont know whats wrong with most of the people here. I drive the car because I love it. The MK3 vr6 speedo changed at 1995, thats why it stoppes at 240. At least do some research before u post idiotic comments like that. btw I once drove it to 260 on gps and it still had like 500 rpm left... well dont believe me if u want, after all your not the one to drive it... I am.

U don't know VR6 if u can't recognize the legendary VR6 sound. Probably a GTI->VR6 convert, and that's why the speedometer only goes to 240.

and i should know i have a 03 24v gti 6sp manual.

and it's not a "1998 vr6 24v". those didn't exist back then. the 2003 models were the first to see the 24v. all others are 12v vr6. this also looks like a MK3 model.

Supercharged or not, its pretty poor for a 2800cc 24v v6 engine. My 2000cc 16v 4cyl Peugeot 306 would eat that any day of the week! Shame really, as the VR6's are quite nice cars

You have to understand superchargers to know why it's slower than you'd expect it to be. This supercharger is not even getting to full boost, VR6's don't reach their peak horsepower until about 6,500 rpm. It only appears to be slow because of the transmission.
