And if they're only trying to be dramatic, i gotta say it worked :3. They never flat out explain it though which is kinda annoying...

You may be on to something there. When Lelouch says her name as a favor to her, he mouths four syllables. I might be wrong, but that's how many I counted. Cecilia is four syllables, so it's entirely possible that it might work. Plus, it's not a Japanese name, because she's not Japanese. She's European, considering her background when she was given the power.

Also, if they spell his name "Lelouch" in English all throughout the series, what justification would there be for spelling it R2 rather than L2?
