It's funny how much Dems bring up the war in Iraq I guess they wanted us to go to Afganistan and get Bin Laden. Because one: The Russians had such GREAT SUCCESS there right?? and two: That Bin Laden was so easy to get. So if that's true why didnt Pres. Clinton get him in the 90's??? Just asking... The American people should not be allowed to waste money. THAT'S CONGRESS'S JOB!!!!

You make a really good point about capturing Bin-Laden.

There is a certain arrogance about both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. There's the notion that we can fix the problems of other countries.

It seems to me that we should remove ouselves from both countries and bolster our human intelligence capabilities in both regions. When we learn of terrorist camps, bomb those sites. We should also provide diplomatic and humanitarian support to these countries.

I'm not saying that the Bush Administration didn't make huge mistakes and didn't treat us "average Americans" like ignorant fools. However, whenever Bush pushed his "personal agendas," he received a lot of media scrutiny (and rightly so). I just wish Obama & his fellow Dems would now face this same scrutiny. They purposely passed this "Stimulus" without the House & Senate even reading it. This is very scary!!

Oscar, Please, Take just a minute and review President Bush's fiscal history. For the first 6 years, our econimy was great. Two years ago, the democrats, took over. Just ask nancy pileosi,,,she'll tell you the democrats were in charge. In those two years, look how they were able to screw-up our economy.

The Republicans introduced and pressed for passage of the "Enron loophole". This measure allowed for unregulated commodity futures trades. This in large measure encouraged the bubble in oil prices but more damaging, it brought us highly leveraged credit default swaps.

The Democrats over the years have tried to close the "Enron loophole" but have been symied by the Republicans.

Oscar, please - Look at history and who caused this horrible financial mess we're in right now. Two words; Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac.  Democrats forcing banks to loan to people who had no possible way of paying-back a mortgage loan. Socialism at it's best!

If you are refering to the Community Reinvestment Act, that measure only applies to commercial banks. These institutions accounted for a very small percentage of subprime loans. The culprits were investment banks. Again their ability to do subprime loans was made possible by Repubublican deregulation.

No one forced any financial institution to make bad lending decisions.

Fannie & Freddie have a host of problems, not the least of which has to do with their size.

And it was members of the Republican Congress that pointed-out the democrats folly with freddie and fannie. Today, we have a president with NO business sense and a business plan that has been proven, over decades, to fail. Again, just take a look at the last two years of dumocrat rule.

They (as do too many Democrats) represent corporate interests, not the public interest.

Example: The abolishion of the Glass-Stegal Act. This bit of deregulation allowed investment banks to participate in the same activities as commercial banks and visa-versa. It was a major contributor to our economic disaster.
