@Kuneckid05 A "draw" is a flight path of the ball in which the ball curves GENTLY right-to-left for a right-handed player, or left-to-right for a left-handed player. At impact, the ball starts out slightly to the right of the target (for a right-handed golfer), before gently curving back to the left arrive at its target...... That was not fucking GENTLE!
hahaha no wonder people can't play golf. you don't even know what the hell the ball flights are supposed to be.
look, people. you try to end at your target, but you work the ball away from it and back towards it, the direction depending on your shot shape preference. the straight shot is the hardest to hit consistently in golf. curving the ball makes it SO much easier to play the game. if you miss your target, you miss your target. fine. move on and try again on your next shot.
if you hit a straight pull with no curve it means your club heads coming in to the ball on an out-to-in swing path, you'll need to work on moving your hands more from behind yourself then extending to the target on the downswing, like a tennis forehand shot.
a hook for a right hander starts right of the target, curves and finishes left of the target. A pull hook starts left of the target and curves further away. A draw starts right of the target and then curves back to the target. A pull starts left of the target and flies straight without curve. How much the ball curves doesnt decide what the shot is, bubba watson is the best example as he hits almost a 40 yard draw.

there are a different ways of hitting a draw. one would be, as some of you has described, a push-draw where the ball starts right and curles back. But you can also hit a pull draw on purpose and that doesn't make it a hook. Hooks I think, are unintentional, uncontrolled and curves too much, however, in this vid you may say Glover hit a "controlled hook".
well, that curve is so big that I would call it a hook. but still, a draw is a controlled right-to-left-shot, while a hook cannot be controlled. it usually ends up OB. so I guess that makes this shot a draw...
You got that right kunekid05, so many people don't know the true definition of a hook or draw, but you are right it is one that starts right and comes back to your target.
this is a slinger if there ever was one.

some people just play more of a hook then a gentle draw, including glover, and retief

I feel like if his timing is just off by millimeters he is blocking it or hitting a sharp hook.

That's how it is with most people with fast tempos. Thankfully, people with fast tempos are more prone to having a one way miss.

WRONG. A draw is ANY type of right to left movement that does not go left of the intended target. Look up some definitions.

@Goynes42 a draw is a shot that starts right of the target then curls back on line, no matter how much it comes out by and back again ~(even 50yards)
hook is going left of your target xx

yeah, cool man, just sharing the knowladge of this beutiful game xx
kuneckid05 2 years ago
@kuneckid05 that's not right. a draw is a slight right to left curve, a hook is a large right to left curve. a ball that goes straight left is a pull

well there is a difference xx
