ur right that it's not technically Mauy Thai. It's a mix of different styles of Mauy Thai, like the original style of Mauy Boran in Ong Bak and Elaphant style in Tom Yum Goong, the only reason it seems ineffective is because they added flips and acrobatics to make the fight scenes more interesting, there aren't a lot of martial arts movies that don't do this
If you guys noticed that Muay Thai usually uses elbows and knees and so if they are bent like bending your elbow and if someone trys to hit them pretty hard it will not hurt as much because it is stronger than usual

in muay thai some fights will have restrictions like no elbows no knees
knees allowed elbows allowed no rules

you gotta learn how to walk then you gotta learn how to fly
kicks are learnt more then elbows and knees once you take out your oppenets legs he aint moving anymore
