Fail, the reason why the cable company gives you a component cable with your HD cable box instead of an HDMI cable is because they know something you don't know, that Component will actually give you a deeper richer colour than HDMI cables, and will do 1080P all day long. Whenever you can split R,G,B, into three separate colour signals your gonna get purer deeper colour rendition, FACT!!
I have a NEWSFLASH for everyone, COMPONENT cables will still give a BETTER picture than HDMI cables because the tv color signal has three separate parts RGB=RED,GREEN,BLUE, anytime you can feed the three colours separately your gonna get a richer more deep colour contrast versus HDMI which incorporates the three colour signal into one, just for convenience sake for consumers. I know because I have a film/video production degree, hook up both cables and view same channel and see the difference!!
@PizzaguylolXD Your an idiot, you don't know what your talking about, yes I know HDMI is digital you moron, BUTT, all the signals are intertwined in one cable MORON, therefore it's impossible to get as pure a colour signal when R,G,B, is all in one cable, when R,G,B, is separated you get a pure natural accurate colour, have you heard of 3 CCD professional camcorders, each CCD=Charged coupled device microchip, has R=RED,G=Green,B=Blue, which make up the entire colour spectrum, same thing with CABLE
@PizzaguylolXD Continued part 2.....Component cables will do 1080P all day long, and give a purer colour signal, because whenever R,G,B, colour can be separated into separate cable connections, it retains more pure colour information with no loss of detail, unlike HDMI cables where the three colours are coming out of one cable, it's impossible to retain the same colour info, despite the fact that it's digital, Understand? or are you just too Fucken Stupid? The only one on Placebo is you, Douche!
@hailherrosner For somebody who supposedly has a degree you certainly can't use proper grammar, spelling, or take criticism. What community college did you get your "degree" from?
@PizzaguylolXD Here's some grammar for you Fuck OFF, I'm not gonna school your ass, when you don't know what the hell your talking about, don't leave stupid comments like, "UH... he said hdmi for cable box and component for dvd player. I would say hdmi for blu-ray player connected to a surround audio system via hdmi and hdmi to tv. Then component cable from cable/sat box to tv and optical audio cable from box to the surround system.
I have a 360 with a Component cord and was wondering if when I pick 1080p HD setting and It shows picture does it mean It will work for all games with 1080p. Cause right now I have it on 1080i? I'm getting a HDMI soon but I just wanna know if Component can go Full 1080p.
@JoshC969 If you set your Xbox 360 to 1080p, then it will upscale any non-1080p content into 1080p. So yes, it will be full 1080p but most will just be upscaled (less than 10 games are native 1080p, and Xbox Dashboard is native 720p).
@JoshC969 Component cables will do 1080P all day long, no problem, it will also actually give you a purer more natural colour with deeper blacks, because the three colours R,G,B= Red,Green,Blue, are separated to three separate signal cable connections which retain a purer colour signal. HDMI, on the other hand puts the three colour signal and audio onto one cable connection which can't retain as pure a colour signal as component. So, save your money, and use your component cable.
1080i stands for Interlaced and is when every second horizontal line on the screen is "refreshed" or "changed"
1080p stands for Progressive and is when every horizontal line on the screen is "refreshed" or "changed"
they both display the same resolution of 1920x1080 (the 1080 part) but the way in which they are refreshed are different. Also technically 1080i refreshes half as often as 1080p therefore 1080p is the best for picture quality.
@DSmaster48 That's becaue 360 was pretty much originally designed for component... It can't even do true 1080p, it just upscales to it... And the first 360s didn't even have HDMI outputs...
component is only capable of a max of 720p.....hdmi is capable of 1080p...so if you have a 720p max tv hdmi isn't necessary unless using it for sound too.
@cobh8crew2009 HDMI works if supported on display AND the device sending a signal, that was my problem, now at the local Goodwill there are endless supplies of HDMI, and hardly expensive, if you're luck enough to have thrift stores near you, as I am. It's also MOST tricky getting that DIGITAL SURROUND sound, because it ultimately needs to be into a receiver, and the TV ain't gonna do SURROUND, None I've seen
I got a Sony DS DAV-C700 working, barely, it has NON progressive Component video out and from the display, though anamorphic capable, reports 480i (Interlace) So the picture looks the best in S-video actually, that's two components of the viideo versus Composite, which confuses some, there is the worst RF version of video and audio that those with Demodulators get! haha
@cobh8crew2009 A non HDCP compliant tv is a cheap tv. HAHAHA! Poor bastard, don't buy cheap shit, most cheap shit isn't HDCP compliant and doesn't have high resolution or good support. OMFG. Cheap people, I fucking hate them. Seriously, I live on less than $13,000 a year and I can still afford a Sony Bravia, a PS3, an Xbox 360, a Wii, an iMac, and over 500 games. OMFG, what a cheap ass.
@cobh8crew2009 Component can reach HD 1080p resolution, but all blu-ray movies use a DRM codec which requires HDMI for 1080p output. Otherwise, component will play the blu-ray movies, but in 1080i. HDMI is the only true way to receive 1080p because all blu-ray movies have a DRM copyright to only allow 1080p through HDMI. Plus, HDMI is digital, signal to signal straight up. Component is analog, all players are digital thus digital to analog, to digital on your tv, more fuss. Digital HDMI!
So, i have 1 Hdmi connection left and i have a HD dish reaciver incoming tomorrow and a blu ray player next week, which 1 should go to the HDMI port and which one should be component and why?
okay i erased my last comment cuz im too dam stupid. technology pisses me off, i even shave my balls with an Indiana Jones knife... well question is, whats the difference between 1080i and 1080p????
Hello guys, I find it very difficult to tell whether the problem needs help. I am 14 years old. I have a bad habit of masturbation, have for many years. This led me to know no real interest in sex life, and now I can not find a suitable girlfriend. This has seriously affected the life of my health, I would like to bid farewell to this life, who can help me?
Hi Guys, can you tell me tell me how to connect my ps3 to my optoma hd66 using my hdmi cable, so far I just have sound inside my projector but no video.
Component and HDMI has no picture quality difference. All HDMI does is save you from some extra cables. Component=Win, why? because HDMI cables cost twice as much as component.
@IngloriousSob One problem, not many HDTV's these days support 1080 through component. They usually do this to force the user to use HDMI which in turn gives you true HD 1080p rather than component.
@ApFaqTech I don't know what's going on,but my Component looks good and bright, well it shows bright, you know what I'm trying to say :) I switch back and forth between HDMI and Component.. Component=WIN. you are right component =1080i and HDMI= 1080P
@ApFaqTech I was wondering why my xbox had hd but it had like five different cables. I thought HDMI was the only hd video.
So is it okay for me to use component with my xbox? I know HDMI is newer and better but GEEZ THEY'RE EXPENSIVE. I went on BestBuy and I see 6.6' HDMI cables for $80-$90. I even see one thats $700 WTF. I'm not lying go on BestBuy type in HDMI cable and you'll see.
The 6' ones are less expensive but are they the right type? Are all HDMI cables the same?
@YoMama844 It shouldn't matter that is usually the length of the cable itself like 6" is 6 feet. Go to kmart.com and type in hdmi. I use the $20 nickel plated RCA one from my xbox to my 65" HDTV.
@IngloriousSob have a DLP HD TV why does Component shows so much brighter than HDMI, HDMI IS Good, but Component looks better(to me),can you or anyone explain?.. maybe my HDMI Cable are cheap.well, I didn't pay much for it,between $15 and $20 no more than that. thanks
@IngloriousSob Its expensive but after starting to use HDMI i started to see a HUGE difference. Not only do the PS3 games look MUCH better and clearer but also the PS1 and PS2 games which look much better than on their original consoles. The DVDs also look much better and whenever im forced to connect my PS3 to a standard TV which doesnt support HDMI i always praise the day i can use HDMI again on a flat TV. So yeah theres a pretty big difference in case you dont notice.
@Xehanort4 im pretty sure its all in your head, because there is not a single review for a hdmi cable having a "huge" difference then from a component cable. whatever floats your boat tho, that's cool.
@IngloriousSob Try a Computer adapting DVI to HDMI and you will see better quality then VGA inputs to HD displays, however, there is analog and digital variations
@theoneandthree ok well look i have used component since vcr was out and over the years they got better but if u hook up and xbox or a dvd in a lcd HD tv with compnent the quality looks a little bad it looks jagged in the lines now when i used hdmi on the xbox or dvd the quality was AMAZING i have never seen enything look that good before and if u use it on a dvd that can support hdmi u get the quality up to 1080p i would highly recommend u go with hdmi
Question: I have a panasonic FULL HD (1080p) camcorder and was just wandering if there is a difference between hdmi and component output when the camcorder is hooked up to the TV. The camcorder came with a component output i really dont feel like going out and bying an hdmi cable. help is appreciated :)
@Adrenalinism HDMI video quality is slightly better and the audio quality is amazing when you compare to components. I would get an HDMI if I were you because they're only $3 (and lower) on eBay. NEVER buy them in stores though. Hope I could help. =)
@clanorange66 I found a seller on eBay who sells 1080p HDMI cables for $3.19 with FREE one day shipping. We got 4 because of our 3 1080p TVs and an extra for my PS3 or PC Input. All those cables summed up aren't even half the price of 1 normal 1080p HDMI in stores which would cost $30. It's crazy how much you get ripped off in stores. o.o
@smashbr0s Microsoft puts a label on the cable and charges $37 more then the generic version. They both function the EXACT SAME. I know, rip off these days. thats why you've gotta shop around
I found component cables for the ps3 for only $5, would I see a difference between those and composite cables? i have an old tv so it doesn't have HDMI connection
I have a PS3 and Sony Bravia. Audio will not keep up with the image, no matter composite, component, or HDMI. PS3 works marvelous with other Television sets. TV works marvelously with xbox360. I have "Braviasync'd" the two devices together. I am having a Sony to Sony handshake issue (I have tried three different models of Sony TV sets). Sounds like my ps3 has issues with Sony TV's. Anyone know a fix?
@wallpony not really. i would say there are multiple ways. press the eject button, press the power button, jump the bridge in the power supply, etc... so thats not a stupid qustion.
you don't have to buy the overpriced monster cables. they are so expensive because the wires are gold plated. This is used instead because gold is more conductive than standard copper wire. The reason they don't really affect picture quality is because, unless the circuit boards in your electronics use gold solder, you're stuck with a $130 + wire that isn't carrying its full capacity.
HDMI is not a better picture and digital does not make it better ESPECIALLY if it does not work at all.
Run HDMI out of you cable box to your TV then where does the audio from your stereo come from??? Oh yea a digital audio cable. Pretty stupid huh, there goes that "upgrade."
HDMI was a great idea that to this day still does not work the way it was designed.
Component is bullet proof and can provide the same resolution and quality as HDMI without the disadvantages.
i agree what you stated that the HDMI may not be better after all. What i would just like to say is that i prefer HDMI over Component because of all the cables. i want to eliminate all the cables to make it look more organized. and i just use the TV speakers instead of another stereo, so i dont need any more cables. so it works fine with me and works just what is was designed to work for. your hook up may be radically different so may i just ask to speak for yourself next time?
Maybe for high-end HDMI tvs. But the quality depends on the cable. Some TV's handle analog signals better. My TV handles both audio and digital signals similarly.
@leppy5 Actually component can do 1080p, its just a matter of whether your TV will accept the signal or not. And it may not be "true" 1080p because the signal is not 100% digital (because component is analog), but it is still 1080p.
Hello, I have a problem, you see I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv9500 Notebook PC, with a HDMI entrance. However, on the setting of the Sound on Control Panel, it does have the option of HDMI setting, to let you hear the sound on the LCD. For some reason, some videos on youtube does have sound on the TV LCD, and some don't, but the rest of the program such as Media player can't have sound. My question is: Is there a way to install the option on the control panel???
Hi, I want to connect my video card to my television but my television has a DVI connection and my my video card too, how can I connect the video card to my television? My television only supports 1080i. THE DVI-HDTV input terminal is compliant with the EIA-861 standard and is not intented for use with personal computers. Thanks

on amazon you can get an hdmi cable for about 50 cents- no joke.
all this hdmi cable marketing is a load of bull (MONSTER!).
all hdmi cables transmit DIGITAL signals, your picture quality will be no better if you buy an 1$ cable, or a 100 $ monster cable. It is absolutely ridiculous what these companies will make you think to you purchase their product.
well, actually some HDMI cables use different technologies(1a and stuff) but thickness has nothing to do with quality...for hdmi. As for analog cables, the thicker the better. But yes, Monster does overprice their products.
i upgraded to monster and the picture quality actually was a tiny bit better and the frame rate was smoother. i was skeptical about it at first but it was satisfying. ofcourse its not really worth $130 but i had gift cards so i didnt really pay for it
@dudman89 u can find much cheaper ones. monster brand is much more expensive than it needs to be. all hdmi cables are really the same. i bought one for 26 bucks and it works great
Fail, the reason why the cable company gives you a component cable with your HD cable box instead of an HDMI cable is because they know something you don't know, that Component will actually give you a deeper richer colour than HDMI cables, and will do 1080P all day long. This video doesn't really say much. For most of you people (Who all haven't a clue), here are the differences between component & HDMI.
1) Cables - HDMI uses 1 digital cable. Component uses 5 analog cables.
2) Resolution - HDMI can handle 1080p, 1440p, 3D, and 4K. Component can only go to 480p. (It can display 720p and 1080i, but badly)
3) Audio - HDMI supports digital 7.1 surround audio for all formats. (dts, dolby, etc.) Component uses analog stereo.
Need I go on?

Hello guys, I find it very difficult to tell whether the problem needs help. I am 14 years old. I have a bad habit of masturbation, have for many years. This led me to know no real interest in sex life, and now I can not find a suitable girlfriend. This has seriously affected the life of my health, I would like to bid farewell to this life, who can help me?

Component and HDMI has no picture quality difference. All HDMI does is save you from some extra cables. Component=Win, why? because HDMI cables cost twice as much as component.
IngloriousSob 1 year ago 16
@IngloriousSob HDMI 6ft are 1 cent on amazon lol
xxSymbiotexx 1 year ago
@IngloriousSob One problem, not many HDTV's these days support 1080 through component. They usually do this to force the user to use HDMI which in turn gives you true HD 1080p rather than component.
ApFaqTech 1 year ago 11
@ApFaqTech I don't know what's going on,but my Component looks good and bright, well it shows bright, you know what I'm trying to say :) I switch back and forth between HDMI and Component.. Component=WIN. you are right component =1080i and HDMI= 1080P
theoneandthree 1 year ago
@ApFaqTech But if you have an older TV there is virtually no visual difference like IngloriousSob said right?
Sprafikk 1 year ago
@ApFaqTech I was wondering why my xbox had hd but it had like five different cables. I thought HDMI was the only hd video.
So is it okay for me to use component with my xbox? I know HDMI is newer and better but GEEZ THEY'RE EXPENSIVE. I went on BestBuy and I see 6.6' HDMI cables for $80-$90. I even see one thats $700 WTF. I'm not lying go on BestBuy type in HDMI cable and you'll see.
The 6' ones are less expensive but are they the right type? Are all HDMI cables the same?
YoMama844 5 months ago
@YoMama844 There around $20 at kmart try there, best buy is a rip off for cables so is staples.
fmachado29 5 months ago
@fmachado29 Which type do I need for game consoles and watching TV? 6' or 6.6'.
YoMama844 5 months ago
@YoMama844 It shouldn't matter that is usually the length of the cable itself like 6" is 6 feet. Go to kmart.com and type in hdmi. I use the $20 nickel plated RCA one from my xbox to my 65" HDTV.
fmachado29 5 months ago
@ApFaqTech . That's true and that's one reason why I bought a Samsung plasma which does 1080p via component instead of a Panasonic which doesn't.
Phantoma3 5 months ago
@IngloriousSob have a DLP HD TV why does Component shows so much brighter than HDMI, HDMI IS Good, but Component looks better(to me),can you or anyone explain?.. maybe my HDMI Cable are cheap.well, I didn't pay much for it,between $15 and $20 no more than that. thanks
theoneandthree 1 year ago
@IngloriousSob
You can get an HDMI cable for as cheap as $12 or less and it will give the you the same EXACT quality as a $130 dollar MONSTER cable

Boody006 1 year ago
@IngloriousSob Its expensive but after starting to use HDMI i started to see a HUGE difference. Not only do the PS3 games look MUCH better and clearer but also the PS1 and PS2 games which look much better than on their original consoles. The DVDs also look much better and whenever im forced to connect my PS3 to a standard TV which doesnt support HDMI i always praise the day i can use HDMI again on a flat TV. So yeah theres a pretty big difference in case you dont notice.
Xehanort4 10 months ago
@Xehanort4 im pretty sure its all in your head, because there is not a single review for a hdmi cable having a "huge" difference then from a component cable. whatever floats your boat tho, that's cool.
IngloriousSob 10 months ago

Adrenalinism 1 year ago

It's crazy how much you get ripped off in stores. o.o
smashbr0s 1 year ago
@smashbr0s Microsoft puts a label on the cable and charges $37 more then the generic version. They both function the EXACT SAME. I know, rip off these days. thats why you've gotta shop around

I use component now on my Xbox 360 because the audio kind of lags sometimes with HDMI. I noticed that the picture quality is relatively the same.
MegaShot419 1 year ago
for what i know component can also transfer full hd signals.
will it still has a stereo audio cable to transfer stereo signals.
but if the source also contains digital out you can connect it alongside with component to your hdtv screen.
sadly most compponent and even dvi sources like today's laptops has no digittal sound output

Hitman47PL 1 year ago
@wallpony not really. i would say there are multiple ways. press the eject button, press the power button, jump the bridge in the power supply, etc... so thats not a stupid qustion.
cartzar 1 year ago
*right* you should check you own spelling before you start saying they need to check their own spelling.
wallpony 1 year ago
you don't have to buy the overpriced monster cables. they are so expensive because the wires are gold plated. This is used instead because gold is more conductive than standard copper wire. The reason they don't really affect picture quality is because, unless the circuit boards in your electronics use gold solder, you're stuck with a $130 + wire that isn't carrying its full capacity.
wallpony 1 year ago
HDMI is not a better picture and digital does not make it better ESPECIALLY if it does not work at all.
Run HDMI out of you cable box to your TV then where does the audio from your stereo come from??? Oh yea a digital audio cable. Pretty stupid huh, there goes that "upgrade."
HDMI was a great idea that to this day still does not work the way it was designed.
Component is bullet proof and can provide the same resolution and quality as HDMI without the disadvantages.
glockman9c 1 year ago
@glockman9c get your facts strait
Kev3085 1 year ago
@glockman9c
i agree what you stated that the HDMI may not be better after all. What i would just like to say is that i prefer HDMI over Component because of all the cables. i want to eliminate all the cables to make it look more organized. and i just use the TV speakers instead of another stereo, so i dont need any more cables. so it works fine with me and works just what is was designed to work for. your hook up may be radically different so may i just ask to speak for yourself next time?
mik3ayala18 1 year ago
No, you don't know facts. HDMI has a better color processor and provides a sharper image. Component is analog and old technology.
techgamer360 1 year ago
Maybe for high-end HDMI tvs. But the quality depends on the cable. Some TV's handle analog signals better. My TV handles both audio and digital signals similarly.
MegaShot419 1 year ago
it also has better, richer colors and deeper black levels, hdmi is 10x better than component.
techgamer360 1 year ago
component is only 1080i and the HDMI is 1080p
leppy5 1 year ago
@leppy5 Component can do 1080p too
stopwhining1 1 year ago
@stopwhining1 good luck with trying that
leppy5 1 year ago
@leppy5 Thanks, but I already have my 360 running 1080p through component..
stopwhining1 1 year ago
@stopwhining1 its not true 1080p its only 1080i that your T.V. may say is 1080p but its not
leppy5 1 year ago
@leppy5 Well whatever it is, it looks better than 1080i
stopwhining1 1 year ago
@leppy5 Actually component can do 1080p, its just a matter of whether your TV will accept the signal or not. And it may not be "true" 1080p because the signal is not 100% digital (because component is analog), but it is still 1080p.
IProphetI 1 year ago
its due to the faggots wanting more "Copy right" crap
kawaiifreak860 1 year ago
hdmi is darker, more rich, more clear. component has a more fair brightness, not too colorful and its just as sharp as hdmi.

JeRseybOy251 1 year ago
Hello, I have a problem, you see I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv9500 Notebook PC, with a HDMI entrance. However, on the setting of the Sound on Control Panel, it does have the option of HDMI setting, to let you hear the sound on the LCD. For some reason, some videos on youtube does have sound on the TV LCD, and some don't, but the rest of the program such as Media player can't have sound. My question is: Is there a way to install the option on the control panel???

on amazon you can get an hdmi cable for about 50 cents- no joke.
all this hdmi cable marketing is a load of bull (MONSTER!).
all hdmi cables transmit DIGITAL signals, your picture quality will be no better if you buy an 1$ cable, or a 100 $ monster cable. It is absolutely ridiculous what these companies will make you think to you purchase their product.
EvilWitDaKronic 2 years ago
well, actually some HDMI cables use different technologies(1a and stuff) but thickness has nothing to do with quality...for hdmi. As for analog cables, the thicker the better. But yes, Monster does overprice their products.
cargodudeMT 2 years ago
i upgraded to monster and the picture quality actually was a tiny bit better and the frame rate was smoother. i was skeptical about it at first but it was satisfying. ofcourse its not really worth $130 but i had gift cards so i didnt really pay for it
