This is definitely upbeat for James Last. One of the most intense orchestral instrumentals I have ever heard is kamarinskaja by him. Unfortunately no one has uploaded this masterpiece to Youtube. It starts off slow then just explodes half way through.
@john54542 The track you refer to is on the album Russland Erinnerungen, but to my knowledge is not captured on video anywhere. Shame as Hansi had a habit of "exploding" some tracks which was truely breathtaking. He has slowed down now, still he is nearly 82!
stan's solo is great, but when i hear a solo like that, all i can think is michael brecker.... brecker was a beast... someone to check out as far as lesser known but awesome sax players is zbigniew namyslowski... he was a contemporary of michal urbaniak. if you can get the 70's polish urbaniak recordings with namyslowski, do it. also zbigniew's 1964 solo album "lola" is pretty easy to find...
i found this song looking for a song from the game earthbound, i looked up 'frankys theme jazz' because i wanted a jazz version of the song. Instead i found this! and i like this a whole bunch more!
Hello ! One interesting thing about the orchestra, is that the musicians are from approximately 15 countries. Two of the trumpet players come from USA : The brothers Chuck and Bob Findley. They have toured with the band since 2000/2001. The orchetra play almost all kinds of music. If you search for Chuck Findley on You Tube, you can listen to a terrific version (jazz) of the known song Nature Boy. Recorded during the James Last European tour 2002.
He has the worlds most famous orchestra. He has sold more than 100 million records and recieved 206 golden records and 17 platina records. The orchestra have been touring throughout almost the whole world over the years. They have never toured in the USA though. James Last have just finished a concert tour in Great Britian. In London they played in Royal Albert Hall for the 85th time. You can see clips from that tour here on You Tube. There will also be a DVD release in 2008 from this tour.
I heard the de souza version about 20 years ago in a club in Denmark. This is the first time I've haerd it since. Anyone know a posting of it on you tube. It's awesome. this seems like a decent verion of it.
This stuff is better than Muscular Dystrophy muzak! It kicks ass. This music doesn't put me into a wheelchair like telethong muzak does. Screw Jerry Lewis. Hi-Yo!
This music is at least from 12 years before I was born but I still find it mind blowing! :D

Kann mir natürlich auch ohne Englisch verraten werden. Ist einfacher für mich.

It's Terry Jenkins. He was also a drummer for Tom Jones in the 70's. He is now known as a Jazz drummer, I think.

Oops, I remember JL as an absolutely "nogo" in my youth. It's seen as kind of grandmas sound.
Later I was told by a pianoplayer, he's on of the guys who could really live on playing jazz in germany. (Why didn't he do so?)
Sweet Lucy is great stuff by George Duke.
No need to hurry that way, believe, if it was ment to be faster, those guys would have played it faster.
You've tried to enhance your sound up to the groove of the "de Souza" recording.
But:
The lead-instrument part is for prophet5?

Definitely good musicians. All of them. But I prefer the original version by Raul de Souza with George Duke on Piano.
They destroyed all the funky tunes in it. At 0:22 til 0:26 it even sounds like Polka ?!
