I don't know much about Audrey Williams and if she could sing or not, but she does a good job of harmonizing with Hank on the last song. What I do know is that Yoko Ono could never pull that sort of thing off in a million years.
A true legend living or dead. One of the first country rockers. He had his personal demons but he brought joy to so many. God bless you, Hank. He was the template for the rest to follow. I was ten years old when I heard on a Toronto radio station of his death that New Years day. Like Pres, Kennedy, I remember where I was. I was at my uncle's house with my family for a party the night before. Thanks for this, AlanPaladin. Great photos, too.
Hank has a voice like no other. I am an old time fan of his and many more. One day I will have a new body, not like the beat-up one I have now. He speaks to those of another age, not to this age of schlock country, pre-made by machines that can make anyone sound like a star.
Alan, all I can say is everything you post on Hank Sr is powerful. I truly believe Hank III is part of Hank SR they are almost identical. For anyone who has not listed to the song "Howlin at the Moon,(Stubbs) listen to hank sr. then to Hank III and tell me they are not re-incarnated.
Its is said that after leaving the stage one night after singing with Audrey he said to his bandmate: "its nerve racking enough for a man to have his wife sing with him, nevermind when she cannot sing a lick" LOL!
Hank covers pretty well for Audrey on that last number, they actually pull it off, which just goes to show ANYBODY sounds good w/HANK WILLIAMS, one of the great singers in american music history.
Great stuff! But please remove the doucebagery when jerks disrespect Hank & his fans & you. 'sp1kers' is no doubt your typical failed musician who's jealous of the love & admiration that we have for Hank. It's funny how lonely & frustrated musicians all desperately try to get attention by spewing ignorance & hatred instead of doing something productive. Hank was a musical genius. As to his accusation of drugs, he had many health problems & back pain! Hello! No wonder his channel has no comments.
Hank Williams was a pathetic drunken dope addict who lived on booze and prescription medicine. Fred Rose wrote most of his songs for him and he never took the credit - otherwise, no one would even know who he was.
"Poor me, my little ole heart is broken - please feel sorry for me"
The previous comment is not only pathetically boorish but also incredibly ignorant. Mr. Williams was enormously talented, his songs are as popular now as when written - they transcend time. Also, he wasn't just a big star in his time- he was TWO big stars-a country music star as Hank Williams and a gospel music star as Luke the Drifter. Can any contemporary performer make such a claim? Imagine how many more immortal songs he would have written had not substance abuse shortened his life.
Right, Fred Rose just gave away his songs to Hank, because he didn't want the money? Don't think so... despite his personal problems Hank probably had 1000% more talent than you... nuff said.
Check out his offspring - there are NO brains or talent in that entire family. They are all drunken dope addicts. "poor me, I have a good reason to be a drunk 'cause my granpappy wuz - I have a licence" DUH! OPEN YOUR EYES!
i have only heard of Hank's radio show. i never heard it before today. i don't recall ever hearing Audrey sing before, but i agree, it kept the peace in Hank's house.i'd love to hear more of the radio show. perhaps it is for sale on CDsomewhere.
To no1countryfan - click on the AmazonMP3 tag below this video and you can purchase the 2 CD Health & Happiness Shows from them. It has a lot of Great Songs done live from Hanks Radio Broadcast Shows in 1949 :)
I seriously laughed out loud at the description of this video & how Audrey was the "Yoko Ono of Nashville!" I understand she was his wife and blah blah blah, but my GOD, the woman couldn't sing! Why would you allow her to get up on stage & represent you if she sounded like a dying cow?
Well, I think they were probably both tough to live with. We only really know of Hank's experiences, because of his songs/comments. He even threw a little digg in there before he sang "Long gone Daddy." ...
Great

I like to hear just about everything Hank sang including songs with his wife "Miss Audrey".
Seems not many people liked her singing ,I guess their ear is finer tuned than mine, because
I love her 'n'Hank duets.

@lordkoos When Hank was recording with Acuff/Rose very few were Fred Rose songs, majority were hank's songs.

..I don't know, but Hank might say somethin' like, it might be a lot easier for you to do that. and then again, you weren't married to her

@riverbelle81 No, she couldn't sing, hence the comparison to Yoko, who was also fond of making 'contributions' to her husband's records...
