And your favourite TV serial, I can see what made it so engaging . A nice discovery all round. Cheers, Mike Rubbo

  • @MikeRubbo I'm absolutely honored Sir. Thx fo your message & for going through my channel. I love the 80's & your film has stayed with me since childhood. Those were really the best days of my life...Kudos to you.

  • @shantanuy Where did you download it from I want it too!

  • I loved this video as a child. I've had it on order from Blockbuster . com since last summer and it just arrived. My children are watching it right now and are glued to the TV. They're normally bored watching classics.

  • MIKE! I just want to thank you so much for making this excellent movie!!! This was one of if not my favourite film when I was a kid!

You are the man for creating such an awesome film! I hope this finds you well. I'm glad I got the opportunity to thank you for it.

  • I watched this movie when I was 16 on the public television station of my country. The Spanish dubbing was absolutely hideous, but the film itself was very cute and fun. I remember the picture quality of it was questionable at least, which showed how low budget public TV was in Argentina.

  • great movie........cast me....cass cumerford .....if y' make another

  • I think he traded away the man in the mast... I havent seen this in over 20 years!! But I watched it so much It all came back to me when I saw this clip. • can anyone throw a torrent up of this movie at least?? or guide me a good link!! MAN THIS CLASSIC and takes me back.

  • i really want to watch this movie

  • Hey Mike. Can you possibly post the infamous one-man-band scene from this movie? I've been trying to find it for years

  • Hey Mike, great movie you made here. Why not upload the whole movie on youtube for people, including myself, to see? As I wrote in another comment here, I basically remember nothing about this movie, just the name haha. You're the director, doesn't that automatically give u the authority to put the whole movie on here whenever u please? Come on man.

  • No, i don't have the authority to upload the whole movie.<Rugratsfarn. I don't own it, sadly

if there' s enough push for it, perhaps it will be available again.

The producer tells me he has no English copies left (there was a French version) even for myself. Mike

  • @MikeRubbo What do you mean the producer has no English copies left for you? You mean you don't have the film on dvd??? I'm sure I must be misunderstanding your comment!!!! This movie is amazing, and I as well as sooo nostalgic, watching it...... thx!

  • I used to see this movie when I was a little kid and when it came on TV again like 5 years ago, I remembered the name and the movie so I recorded it. Lol.

  • lol i will upload it i just got a dazzle

  • yeah if u can please upload the movie. That'd be sweet. I had to look up this movie, I hardly even remembered the name of this movie......I literally forgot everything about this movie lol

  • how do u do that noise with the hand

  • How to make the noise on the cheek? I dont know. maybe Tommy explained it to at the time but ti's so long ago. I do remember that I thought it was clever and it was one of the reasons I chose Antony Rodgers for the part. it's probably a finer pop, like if you put a finger in your cheep and pop it pop it out, pressuring your cheek as you do so. This makes a popping sound too. Mike

  • @MikeRubbo

I figured it out after watching the movie, it drove me and my brothers crazy until I got it,. You interlock your middle finger in between your middle and ring finger on the other hand, like the spock sign, the web of skin between your fingers has to make a tight seal and you have to squeeze the spock hand a bit around the middle finger.

Then press the whole thing against your cheek, and keeping the spock hand flat pull the middle finger out. watch video for details.

  • This movie is crazy man do you have the clip when they are in China in the school and the teacher is telling them to read the blackboard and they go, "TALL TREES TALL TREES BIG TALL TREES!" hahahaha

  • wow, that brings a lot of memories as a kid, anyone remembers a movie where the father is obsessed with tarzan and his kid isn't?, or the one where there's a kid that builds model airplanes and gets to help and old man rebuild a real biplane?

  • just found it!! its called Tail of a Tiger IMDB rules!!!, now just need to find the Tarzan one.

  • i liked this movie alot as a kid.

but its a fantasy, the fantasy is that these kids actually collect stamps.

never met a single KID who collected stamps.

  • Tommy Tricker was by far my favorite childhood movie. I remember renting the VHS during the summers and was shocked to discover a copy STILL available at my hometown's local library (this was about 5 years ago). I now own a VHS copy that I purchased via eBay. If only the soundtrack were available - I have been a Rufus fan ever since this movie! Such an entertaining and educational movie. I am now 28 and am working on my nieces to become just as obsessed as I was :) Thanks for the memories.

  • I haven't seen this movie in forever! My favorite part is when he's in china.

  • where can i watch this movie for free online??

  • yes it'is, thx telavivit :))

  • haha excellent!...

"ask me no questions and i'll tell you no lies"...

still use it till this day!!!

  • Pandora166 has been tying to leave this comment.

My kids (6 & 8) love this movie and watch over and over.I love it also because I grew up in Montreal so it is nostalgic for me.The movie is special because is has non-actors and that is what draws in my kids so much-they choose it over "Hollywood" stuff all the time.

I also love that I have discovered Rufus and Martha Wainwright because of this movie-they are amazing! Bravo!

Thanks for that Pandora. Mike Rubbo

  • OMG! I remember this part esp. when they were looking at the stamps, man I wish I could get the movie!

  • i love this shit

  • I remember this movie didn't make any sense though.

  • What about it didn't make sense to you? Maybe you just have to watch it again.

  • Serene, Rock was the producer, the man who raises the money. It was also his series, Tales for all, each film a different story and different directors .(I did 4. ) La Fete is Rock's company. Actually Rock is much more than a normal producer. he has very clear ideas of the values he wants in these films, and he collaborates in many ways, and did so with me as writer and director. It was great fun working with Rock, someone not motivated by profit but by quality and ideas.

    Cheers, Mike

  • Probably I was really little when I saw it and I didn't see the whole thing just pieces so I guess I need to watch it all the way through.

  • Awesome! Thanx for posting this. I loved this movie when I was a kid.

  • thanks for the nostalgia trip. i loved this movie as a kid... it just popped into my head and low and behold it's here in the land of youtube, thanks to you. right on... thanks for posting. i need to go find this on dvd now...

  • lol same here. Just popped into my head for some reason. It's been about 20 years since i saw this movie.

  • AWESOM!!! I remember this when i was a kid

  • I'm going to get it on dvd. I love this movie.

  • Let me know how you like it, Serene when you get it. How long is it since you saw it, by the way? Mike

  • Got it today, can't wait to watch. It's been at least 10+ years. I love when people tell me that they love Rufus Wainwright, yet I always surprise them when they see him in this movie. :-D

  • It's been about 20 years since i saw this movie.

  • I just finished watching it. What a great movie, it's exactly how I remember it. When I was younger, this movie made me want to collect stamps, but I never did get into it. I love art though and each stamp is a wonderful piece of art, yet many people take them for granted. Question: I noticed that in the beginning it has different characters from a company called La Fete and then it says Rock Demers Planet Earth present Tales for All #7. Can you explain this? Is your movie part of a series?

  • where did you get this movie from

I am desperate to watch it!

  • I really can't believe that there is a clip of this on here! I haven't seen this in YEARS

  • Thanks for your nice comment on my movie. I may put up some other clips as well. Mike

  • this movie is so rare that of all the people i know, i was the only one who saw this as a kid.. and the funny thing is... i just realized my girlfriend saw this when she was a kid too.. so that makes only two of us.. fate maybe..

  • oh! and she said that of all the people she knew.. i was the only one who saw this movie too.. ^^

  • this REALLY remind me of my childhooood mannn thnk you soo much!!

  • Can you upload the whole movie? We used to have this on VHS a loooong time ago. I haven't seen this movie in forever! One of my favorites as a kid.

  • I remember this movie...absolute favorite movie from childhood. Thanks for posting this clip.

  • This was my favourite movie when i was a kid, thankyou to the makers it got me through late night childhood, good ol vhs! Had to go buy it to add to my childrens collection! Loved it, and hell we all had a crush on tommy tricker...well i did. Thanks again

  • Some serious bad acting!

  • I'm not sure if your aware, but this is from an 80's movie called 'Tommy Tricker And The Stamp Travelers' =]

Amazing clip, it never gets old. Possibly the best film ever.
