Is there any way this movie will be released and remastered on Blu-Ray with limited edition Blue Nose Stamp with the Man on the Mast? Or do I have a better chance going to China and asking for the TAAAAHHLL TREES TALL TREES BIG TREES TAAAHLLL TREES!!!!???
oh man this was one of my favorite movies my 2nd grade teacher would show this in class it was magical lol i was like 8. 10 yrs later i still remember this scene :')
@shortymatt420: Anthony Rogers played Tommy and there is like no information on him on the internet. Raphie is played by Lucas Evans and again...no real info =(
This movie got me collecting stamps at a young age. I used to not be able to walk into a post office without buying some stamps. I love it for that. But Why did I end up becoming an architect just like Ralph's Dad??? WTF I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!
I remember this movie from when I was a kid. Loved, it, but had no idea what it was called. LOL I googled " Australia stamp movie " and guess what, found out what it was called. anyways, I wish I could find a copy so my kids could watch it with me :) This sure brings me back.
OMG! That was my FAVORITE movie when I was little... I remember being 6 and totally in love with Raph! He was my first crush ever! hehehe I am now 28, and I still remember EVERY word. And I enjoyed watching this as much as I did 22 years ago! :)
Thank you for this wonderful story! I am going to look for it on DVD, or VHS if there's no DVD. Definitely will share this with my kids one day! Thanks again!
I was trying to remember this movie from my childhood for so long. I just love the nostalgia i get when i watch this film. Just downloaded a english copy of this awesome film & i'm back to my childhood. Tommy Tricker I Love u. & thx a ton Mr. Mike Rubbo.
@shantanuy Thanks Shantanuy for your great message. It's really nice to get such appreciation. I went to you site and played some of your favourite videos. I really like the Song, Mile sur..... And your favourite TV serial, I can see what made it so engaging . A nice discovery all round. Cheers, Mike Rubbo
@MikeRubbo I'm absolutely honored Sir. Thx fo your message & for going through my channel. I love the 80's & your film has stayed with me since childhood. Those were really the best days of my life...Kudos to you.
I loved this video as a child. I've had it on order from Blockbuster . com since last summer and it just arrived. My children are watching it right now and are glued to the TV. They're normally bored watching classics.
I watched this movie when I was 16 on the public television station of my country. The Spanish dubbing was absolutely hideous, but the film itself was very cute and fun. I remember the picture quality of it was questionable at least, which showed how low budget public TV was in Argentina.
I think he traded away the man in the mast... I havent seen this in over 20 years!! But I watched it so much It all came back to me when I saw this clip. I wish I could see the whole movie and some other Canadian films I used to watch as a kid. (I am from Nevada).. But I cant get the titles right
they made us watch this film when it was a horrid rainy day at school- think i was 11 and geez i had a huge crush on ralph haha! my best friend liked the singing boy who turned out to be the famous Rufus Wainright! i watched this movie over and over and always wished i couldve played 'Cheryl' coz im australian and lived close to sydney haha. is martha wainwright in the film at all? cheers!
what a great movie, i last watch it 10 years ago, and after searching the net i finally found the link and downloaded, now i am enjoying the full movie.
Oh my god. I just waded in nostalgia's waters for five minutes. I need to find this movie. I have a taped French version, but I need the English one. Anyone know where/how to find it?
Hey Mike, great movie you made here. Why not upload the whole movie on youtube for people, including myself, to see? As I wrote in another comment here, I basically remember nothing about this movie, just the name haha. You're the director, doesn't that automatically give u the authority to put the whole movie on here whenever u please? Come on man.
@MikeRubbo What do you mean the producer has no English copies left for you? You mean you don't have the film on dvd??? I'm sure I must be misunderstanding your comment!!!! This movie is amazing, and I as well as sooo nostalgic, watching it...... thx!
I used to see this movie when I was a little kid and when it came on TV again like 5 years ago, I remembered the name and the movie so I recorded it. Lol.
yeah if u can please upload the movie. That'd be sweet. I had to look up this movie, I hardly even remembered the name of this movie......I literally forgot everything about this movie lol
How to make the noise on the cheek? I dont know. maybe Tommy explained it to at the time but ti's so long ago. I do remember that I thought it was clever and it was one of the reasons I chose Antony Rodgers for the part. it's probably a finer pop, like if you put a finger in your cheep and pop it pop it out, pressuring your cheek as you do so. This makes a popping sound too. Mike
I figured it out after watching the movie, it drove me and my brothers crazy until I got it,. You interlock your middle finger in between your middle and ring finger on the other hand, like the spock sign, the web of skin between your fingers has to make a tight seal and you have to squeeze the spock hand a bit around the middle finger.
Then press the whole thing against your cheek, and keeping the spock hand flat pull the middle finger out. watch video for details.
This movie is crazy man do you have the clip when they are in China in the school and the teacher is telling them to read the blackboard and they go, "TALL TREES TALL TREES BIG TALL TREES!" hahahaha
wow, that brings a lot of memories as a kid, anyone remembers a movie where the father is obsessed with tarzan and his kid isn't?, or the one where there's a kid that builds model airplanes and gets to help and old man rebuild a real biplane?
Tommy Tricker was by far my favorite childhood movie. I remember renting the VHS during the summers and was shocked to discover a copy STILL available at my hometown's local library (this was about 5 years ago). I now own a VHS copy that I purchased via eBay. If only the soundtrack were available - I have been a Rufus fan ever since this movie! Such an entertaining and educational movie. I am now 28 and am working on my nieces to become just as obsessed as I was :) Thanks for the memories.
hey guys, that was the movie i remembered from my childhood. And howard the duck, the watcher in the woods, adventures in babysitting, the goonies was another legendairy movies. But i m still trying to remember another movie, there a boy is a bald after a herbal aid his hairs getting longer. İs there anybody remember this movie? From Turkey, 90's rules..
My young children love this movie and watch over and over.I love it also because I grew up in Montreal so it is nostaglic for me.The movie is special because is has non-actors and that is what draws in my kids so much, they choose it over "hollywood" stuff all the time.I also love that I have discovered Rufus and Martha Wainright because of this movie-they are amazing! Bravo!

Serene, Rock was the producer, the man who raises the money. It was also his series, Tales for all, each film a different story and different directors .(I did 4. ) La Fete is Rock's company. Actually Rock is much more than a normal producer. he has very clear ideas of the values he wants in these films, and he collaborates in many ways, and did so with me as writer and director. It was great fun working with Rock, someone not motivated by profit but by quality and ideas.

I just finished watching it. What a great movie, it's exactly how I remember it. When I was younger, this movie made me want to collect stamps, but I never did get into it. I love art though and each stamp is a wonderful piece of art, yet many people take them for granted.
