  • nuclear fusion ftw. nuclear fission sucks

  • This freaks me right out!!

  • nuclear power it is the death

  • We really should demand they tell us the whole truth about that disaster.

  • I wonder what happened to the "biorobots" or liquidators that worked on

containing the fallout immediatly after the expolsion??????????????

  • it certainly looks like cod 4.... even the amusment park.... the same thing happens in japan because of the bombs

  • @Hob0Fighter in one mission in CoD4 you are in Pripyat (chernobyl 3km away)

  • @TheRogy577 Awesome... another fan of CoD brough here because of a game.

  • @cooldude2500 nope

  • 1:37

the most black dots on the video tape are caused by high radiation

  • where is Chernobly? LOL

  • Ukraine

  • it is in russia

  • @thefalloutkid13 It's in Ukraine, 2h drive north from Kiev

  • @thefalloutkid13 no. it is in Ukraine...

  • dont want to be insensitive

but... chernobyl looks a lot like cod4....

    pretty sad

  • COD4 was based on it dude.

  • your retarded. infinity ward just remade pripiyat, and did a crappy job doing so

  • thats bad =(

  • Ужас

  • they show how bad it is but what do u gonna do about it ? wo is going to risk hes life to get there

what will they do ? if u can answer that

  • This is too sad. I wonder what we will do when we start running out of oil in a few decades... I don't even want to think about it. More nuclear plants in poorer areas of the world will dramatically increase the chances of more of these situations.

  • Check out the radiation at Lake Karachay in the same area as Chernobyl. What an immense tragedy! I hope something can be done for these poor souls! May Divine Providence have compassion on them.

  • I wouldnt even think of having children if ever that happened to me. Also they say the are is still radioactive, why is that guy standing near the building.

  • whatwould50do you can stand there like 15 min

  • alternative energy sources, FOR THE WIN. poor children should NOT be born only to see no future what-so-ever. NO, i'm not a religious extremist, as I believe sometimes abortion is the only way best for everyone involved. However, i think its a little selfish of people to just stay in that, still, very highly effected area. If they can't afford to go anywhere else, that's understandable...unfortunate, but understandable. I still fee so saddened for them all & pray for everyone

  • actually nuclear energie is the best way of making energie. everybody says it is to dangeres. but if people would do more rechearch for nuclear energie, we would have a clean way of making energie without co2 or nox.

  • hmm, Thank you. I'll research it a little more then. I still feel sad for the little ones and elderly, though

  • Why not for the middle-aged ones? Are not all people equal?

  • They tell the truth when they say that this disaster is not localised. I was in West Germany when Chernobyl tripped off the line. Now my thyroid is useless. Potasium Iodide could have halted a lot of it and it was pennies a dose. Macho bastards would kill us all before they'll admit that there is a problem...

  • o.o reminds me of call of duty 4 when sniping around pripyat o.o almost the same.. the ferris wheel..the atmosphere the ghost town feeling everthing!

  • in call of duty 4 theres 1 map where u are in pripyat

  • so sad this first baby its absoleutly unbelievable as to how the soviet union kept under wraps all the incidents and accidents in the process of building the plant all to get a military promotion and a bonus well they all have a bonus now they all know now that they are going to die a very slow and painful death a death beyond normal human comprehension

  • its unreal how call of duty is so like the actual place

  • I thought the same thing!

  • sob* now i have definitely going to help my ukrainian friend! it makes me cry seeing the bay dying it's notfair and that guys is right!

  • In call of duty 4 have scens of Chernobil town and is the same... realystic. Look on video ( Chernobyl after and beforen )

  • reminds me of call of duty 4 were your Lt. Captain price.

  • I feel such pain seeing and knowing these children have such pain and suffering and little joy in their short lives. We all need pray for them if you have anything close to a heart, they need all prayers they can get. God bless them all

  • then your in the same boat as me i really want to help them rebuild their lives

  • your dead rite.

  • nuclear power seemed a great idea, much cheaper than fossil fuels with less pollution.

also one that people did'nt understand. fat cats and scientists where humbled by thier own creation with the chernobyl disaster. but now people know the risks, the cost to safley and properly remove and store radioactive waste and maintain these power plants is very high. so it's not much cheaper than using fossil fuels tbh.

  • @graciebaby690 nuclear power is much cleaner, much safer, and much better for the environment as a whole. it's just ridiculous how hard it is to keep under control if the proper precautions aren't in place from the get go

  • @graciebaby690 Oh please. Coal costs the US 180 BILLION dollars a year. Nuclear power is MUCH more efficient, cleaner, SAFER, better for the environment. And one plant's waste is another plant's... gold.

  • radiactive energy=non effectient OR radioactive energy+minor human fuckup+crappy reactor design=complete and total disaster and torture to ANYONE within hundreds of thousands of miles.

  • you're -unfortunately- right Bricktopher. and this is really sad... this disaster not only concerns us today, it will concern many next generations also.

  • no anis omg i feel sry for the people effected by the dissaster

  • fucking bullshit this has to happen to kids that had nothing to do with it.

  • Radiation and radioactive material is one of those things we wish we could un-discover i guess =(

  • have to stand up to goverments people stop taking it in the ass, some fuckin crack pot scientist saying radation is good, this is a lesson that must be lerned or this planet wont see another 100 years.

  • damn..

1 nuclear war = the end of life on earth

why don't they build nuclear shit on mars or something ? XD

  • Brilliant idea! We've thoroughly fucked up this planet, let's fuck up Mars!

  • Lets fuck up your sister!

  • (cry) ;(

  • плохие следуют...

  • Radiation is a dangerous thing i never thought that mutation stuff that happens in a superhero cartoon can happen, never believed in it now I do.

  • Humans have a high tolerance to mutation. Most of the mutated fetuses die, few survive. It wasn't a cartoon mutation either, it was a premature birth. The baby looked deformed because not all of what is normally a baby was there.

  • Exposure to radioactivity causes premature birth and birth defects.

  • poor kid the soviet union people are idiots but the heroes are true heroes!

  • u call people idiots because they did one little mistake that keeps on growing but the truth is everybody does even the USA has done stupid mistakes that has cost a lot of ppl suffering and death... but still they have there heroes and u have yours.

  • Chernobyl was horrible.... But today, they are finding ways to deal with nuclear waste ALOT better then in the 80's. When it is stored right, nuclear energy is clean and very efficiant.

  • Nuclear fusion ^-^..........

  • Poor child

  • it's so sad :'(

  • Hey buytime...you sound like a typical under-educated, redneck homophobe. Get off the internet and go back to your NASCAR race. Leave the discussion of nuclear physics to the more educated among us, okay?

  • Actually, nuclear power is very very efficiant and powerful, and they are finding more and more ways to deal with the waste. Buytime is stupid, but you are just as fucking stupid if you think nuclear energy is bad. Greenpeace is just as fucking dumb

  • yeah right. you say that nuclear power is good. but it is not good. it is efficient. but what if someone makes a mistake?

    Human Error=Nuclear Explosion=Radioactivty=Death

  • ... ofc everybody else too...

  • allways when in russia happens something we finish people have to suffer... were just too close to it... last summer as there were big fires in the woods we could smell it and i live on the west side of finland (=far away)

  • are you serious about wood fires? It's nothing to be compared with Chernobyl disaster.

  • no whining...

  • dr. iganius step-on-over ha

  • This is why the Soviet Union is a failure. They were responsible for the worst nuclear accident in history, tried to cover it up, and poorly handled the situation. It took forever for them to contain the blaze and let it burn itself out. The closest the U.S. came was Three Mile Island - nowhere near as bad as THIS!

  • dude i totally agree and lied to the people in pripyat saying they would be back in three day and of course they nvr returned

  • There are some more reasons of SSSR failure I would not like to talk bout...

  • the city is like in the call of duty 4

Hai ramai in Canad si fute-te cu renii

    Te pup!

  • hogwash !?!?! WTF !?!

  • this place will never be habitabal again...it surprises me that people want to even go near this place

  • Many people goes to there but with a license.

  • damn...just imagine the whole world like this..sooner or later it will happen...the bad thing about the explosion is not the victims or casualties...u can take it as a sacrifice...the bad thing is the affected zones(all europe and a part of asian russia i think)and the period that the radions are kept..we are talking about thousands of years people this places will never be populated again!!!...nuclear winter ahead of us...or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at planetary level..

  • Well, I guess being born without an anus would be better than being BORN a giant anus like George W. Bush was.

  • kwm2k8 said

no, it was a nuclear power plant explosion. the radiation from the reactor is just as deadly as from a nuclear bomb though.

    ********************************************

That's laughable! The radiation released from a reactor explosion or meltdown is MUCH more, thousands of times more radiation than a nuclear weapon.

  • Sure...of course Nuclear Power Plants are a clean source of energy. Te nuclear waste itself is actually the cleanest thing of all.

Do you know that there´s NO definite solution for nuclear waste? That´s right! NONE. All the nuclear waste ever produced was either burried or somehow temporaly isolated. Those are temporary solutions. Some kinds of waste will take thousands of years to START becoming not-immediatly-lethal.

  • sa me fai drole de voir sa jespere kin jour toute le monde sunniron pour aidez ses gens

  • omfg.... 20 years... after the accident and still to radioactive to live? d@mn... must be a big bomb

  • Radiation from that is going to last at least 10000 years

  • yep, sucks.

  • It wasnt a bomb

  • is it a Nuke?

  • no, it was a nuclear power plant explosion. the radiation from the reactor is just as deadly as from a nuclear bomb though.

  • Yeah it blew up in 1986 and the radiation still stands today

  • oh ok i thought it was a nuke factory for Soveit Russia.

  • i am really fucking sad bout this we are taking it forgranted its really sad how this could happen to people.off topic some one should make a terrisot group bent on saving the world watever means nesscery chich chic kambbom

  • this is very depressing

  • is this Chernobyl Hart?

  • We are doing this to us , not , cataclisms, not nature , not meteorits, we are squeezing the life out of our planet !

  • cool squeezing lol i always thought it as sucking

  • MY GOD....What have we done.?? One thing is for sure....Us humans sure are Taking our home for granted.

  • oh yeah... totally because the guys up at the plant were like lets blow this shit up and doom many peoples lives and deem many many square miles uninhabitable..... sounds like a great idea... and with out nuclear power, well end up burning our planet up.. so step back and see whose really doing good? people trying to get power with only one reproduction, water, or burn fossil fuels... your choice... what are YOU doing to MY home

  • As we live, the world turns.., . yes we burn oil for heat, cars, trains, lubrication whatever,. Nuclear power is based on water/steam. Clean power. its obvious we cannot live without it, However, cancer rates are up worldwide without an explanation

In 2004 cattle was tested to have higher than normal radioactivity. US blamed chernobyl fallout=={ Nuclear energy is not to be toyed with. We have it all over the world... just don't spill it, ! Chernobyl did

  • Don't pay too muc attention to "rising" cancer rates. People died from cancer 200 years ago, it wasn't even documented. Now as other diseases are treatable and survivable and autopsies are performed more regularly we are discovering "more" cancer. Bad use of statistics, and the medical industry is as untrustworthy as any other.

  • dat aint cool at allllllllll

    omfg i wanna kill someone!!!

  • no anus dat aint cool

  • oh shit

  • об этой трагедии не должны забывать.

  • are you an idiot? its the cleanest huh?

  • Why does it say 'Greenpeace' at the end? Nucleair energy is by far the cleanest source of energy.

  • "Nuclear energy is by far the cleanest source of energy".

Sure, until there's an accident - then it's by far the dirtiest. Also, the problem of nuclear waste. It hasn't really been solvwd yet. Who's problem is that? Uranium 235 has a half-life of 700,000,000 years. All nuclear waste produced is deadly - and it's around forever. Think of that.

  • Tchernobyl has been the only accident so far, things are kept in tight check. And nucleair waste is not that big a deal compared to the CO2 problem, there are already discoveries that greatly reduce the halflife. Its the safest bet until the permanent solution is found I would say.

  • well actually, there have been a lot of accidents by now, especially in the ussr. also, their plants (especially the older) are pretty damn dangerous.

anyway, i still think that nuclear energy is better than fossile ressources.

    fusion power would be best.

  • apestaartje321 says;

"Tchernobyl has been the only accident so far, things are kept in tight check. And nucleair waste is not that big a deal compared to the CO2 problem, there are already discoveries that greatly reduce the halflife"...

    CrudeDude says;

Oh? I guess you don't remember TMI? Fool. "dicoveries that greatly reduce halflife?" BULLSHIT! Pure unadulterated BULLSHIT! Show me a link!

  • I dont have a link, search it yourself. It was all over the papers, almost a year ago. They found that keeping radioactime elements close to zero temperature boosts the decay.

The meltdown you referred to happened 30 years ago, probably for the same kind of incompetence.

  • Another experiment showed that bacteria could be used to decompose these materials by the way.

  • Hogwash! Show me a link!

  • If you think I'm making this up on the spot, why would you even bother..

Google it and you'll find discussions. No confirmation though, so maybe it didnt work after all. You cant expect me to do research before typing a youtube comment, I usually assume something this big is scrutinised before released to the press.

  • Hogwash! Show me a link!

  • In a way he's right you know, we can sit on nuclear waste and the decay issue becomes less problematic than CO2 which is compounding and inevitable. I'm not a huge nuclear proponent but we've only been playing with this for a few generations, what makes you think we won't figure out a way to neutralize or use it? Put it in well designed containers deep enough in a hole, I think the risk is more acceptable than the certain and more immediate destiny of traditional power sources.

  • Nuclear energy is clean yes, but in this case, no

but i agree with you, Greenpeace fags have their heads so far up their asses

    its crazy as shit

  • nuclear energy is not clean. Becasue noone can guarantee that another chernobyl won't happen. Once the chain reaction is out of control no one in the world can stop it

  • I mean Clean as in what comes out of the smoke stacks, steam...

thats clean, theres nothing in it..

  • nuclear enegy is the cleanest in the ideal conditions. But the fact that, ideal conditions never can be guaranteed.

So with nuclear energy we are always under the risk of an accident, in contrast to the continuous pollution of other thermic power stations.

So it is a win-win case for me

  • hohahohi. stfu you heartless bastard, learn some history

  • Write about it in your newspapers people... a lot of money is needed for building a new sarcofagus.. we in europe too will probably get downfall again when this one collapses. They have been warning about collapse for many years already.

  • your a fat yank take that porsche off your display pic you fat prick you will never ever have german or any euro in you so go back to muscle cars. there im playing on your elvel you inconsiderate fat fucking nerd. Grow some compassion, because I can garuntee oneday when you get some sort of bad disease I hope you realise how fucking inconsiderate you have been to other peoples on earth.

  • "They didn't have the funds to teach their workers how to follow simple guidelines?"

It's not important whether they had the funds or not. It's know that at the time of the accident the operators were a skeleton crew; most of which had not read the manual and had come from unrelated industries.

"How did they build those four fucking HUGE reactors then?"

You mean those extremely poorly designed reactors(POSITIVE void coefficient for fucks sake!) with a distinct lack of emergency features?

  • more than 4000 people died... UN said about 9 000 000... so please...

  • No, the UN said the death toll could eventually reach ~4000.(Not to trivialize the disaster, but to put it in perspective: ~30 000 people die every year from coal power in the US alone.)

(If chernobyl had caused 9 million excess deaths atmospheric nuclear testing would have caused hundreds of millions.)

  • Wrong and easy to demonstrate

you can read my book ( and others)

you have to wonder who made the report saying that 4000 died : the AIEA first(!), and yeah, also the UN (that's a shame), the russian, byelorussian and ukrainian governement, etcetc

then, you have to know that they calculated the 4000 deaths thanks to a mathematical modelisation based on proportionality (!!!)ONLY, with no REAL OBSERVATION

    etc, etc

  • ...and remember: "the liquidators" were more than 200 000...so... and don't have to say more!

Maybe Kofi Annan exagerated when he said 9 millions deaths, but 4000 is just absolutely incongruous and impossible.

and yeah, nuclear testing causes huge damages too so what

  • I'am so with you it did cause damadge but it is for 300 400 years and it is not our problem that they are in such trouble. By the way it is Russian's fault that this happened if they weren't fucking around with U.S.A. Also they wanted to finish Nuclear Power Plant faster and cheaper, well they got it quick, poisoning of their kind. Since when did we start caring about those children and people no one gave a shit about them for 20 years.

  • part1:

how "retarded" and hardless must someone be? are you sure you and your brain and feelings were born alright? (without trying to be mean just as a kind of link to the kids above in the video. i think you deserve more pity than they already have.)

  • *heartless i meant... i should go to bed and not care about people like you, hohahohi... then i wouldnt fuck up my own english. probably. haha.

  • part2:

it IS OUR problem since we are all sharing this planet together... because of people that think like you there are wars, fightings, slaughter and so on... its a shame! a bloody bloody shame!

it for example became also our/europes problem since alot of radiation clouds just gave us a visit. so okey, so we dont care...leave it the way it is...its just fucking radiation..it will just fuck us and our descendants up.. oh yes.

  • part3:

oh btw. pripyat and tchernobyl is not russia, its the ukraine. there we go..you dare to open your mouth so big and shout things you have no idea about but still you have no fucking clue about geography and shit.

i really feel digusted to realize that i am a human being when i stumble over people like you. its sad, very sad.

  • part1:

about 3000 people are still working at the power plant and since over years people die in that big crew (very often already at age 40 for example)....every now and then new members join because they get what they need...a good payment, insurance, a house plus garden in the city that was build for the "new generation" of workers at the powerplant (where, sickly, the center of the town is an exact replica of pripyat)....

  • part2:

so count all that together with people that died when the accident happened, then also count the people and liquidors that tried making this place safe since 1986.. oh and not to forget all the children that get born allover the urkraine and russian and wherever area and how many of them die every year.

if it isnt 4000 yet then it will be close to that soon enough.

  • poor idiot

  • FREAKY....

  • Not thatIm history teacher or anything, but You cant simply "move away" from the radioactivity. A cloud of radioactive fallout was spread all thru out The Soviet Union, Eastern, Western, and Northern Europe, along with Eastern North America. Plus, how could u people be making jokes about this disaster? Over 4,000 people died! And 6.6 MILLION were exposed to radiation. Oh yeah, that's Hilarious..

  • You find it funny ?

  • *crys*

  • Why are some people not taking this serious? My mom has cancer, and my dad needed so many surgerys from chernobly, and my oldest brother cant do anything besides lay in bed and stare at the ceiling, and some people are making jokes out of it, that's cruel!

  • yes. its very cruel. and its very unfortunate to hear about how your family has tolive with the struggles from this accident. may god bless you all.

  • Why don't they move them from highly radiactive places = no more trouble.

  • move how! they have no visa'a, can't get visa's, most do not have jobs-much less cars! soviet still has strong hold on country and along with mafia and gangs, these people have little chance and no choice in life! They cant even buy food from shops "if they had money", the shelves are empty 75% of the time and they are forced to grow and eat foods from contaminated soil. It is unbeleivable but true and not a bit funny!

  • lol soviet doesn't exist and also when chernobyl happened they were offered to move back in 1986 but they refused because it is their land.

  • soviet rule is still strong today. it's known now as the "corrupt" federation. they ask for foriegn aid for cleen up and for children of churnobyl but the money never makes it to where it was to go. and the federation moved the people to "shared apartments built in a hurry on unsettled marsh land that is slowly sinking. I have relitives there. I know!

  • the people of pripyat were forced to leave all behind because all was radioactive and were given a few rubels and never allowed back. soldiers and kgb went through city and looted all, selling it to people who know nothing of the radiation! the few that retuned, were the old and the live on farms, none went to city. about 3,000 returned, about 300 still live-today. I'm going for visit mid-08 I'm from Ufa

  • poor kids

  • it's cool it gave idea to make game called STALKER.

  • "cool" for a guy like you, for which the most important thing is to play games. For us, the normal people, there is nothing "cool" about this story.

  • More mutants! XD

  • poor littleone

  • Dont F*** Chernobyl F*** the idiots who tried to pull off a test that was known to create extreme unstablitly inside the nuclear reactor.

  • poor baby fuking chernobyl & radiation fuck it

  • the accident happend on 26 april of 1986 in the urss times

  • On every video about Chernobyl people that comment are either seriously trashing Russians/Ukrainians or are Russian/Ukranian and defending themselves.

I am not Russian or against them, but this really needs to stop. It's very unnerving.

  • Seriously, something like this could have happened anywhere. It's a tragedy.

  • No, it couldn't. Modern radioactive facilities have too high saftey standarts.

  • Oh ok, is that why radioactive material spilled into the Sea of Japan last week? Sorry, but all the safety standards in the world won't prevent ALL accidents. Shit happens...

  • "something like this could have happened anywhere."

The darned thing had a POSITIVE void coefficient! The control rods had tips made of GRAPHITE.

They carried out an experiment with a skeleton crew at night with inexperienced operators. Didn't abort at the first sign of trouble. Didn't know the reactor was poisoned with xenon at low power. Withdrew control rods ment to be permanently in the reactor manually(no design should allow this!).

  • it would seem that u know all the proper steps about Nuclear power and that you would never make a misstake in your lifetime.the silly thing is you have lernt nuthing about life but to blame everyone about the misstakes they have made, not that u eva made any m/f. live and learn cos if i had the power i would build a NP under your house coz you know it all>>>>>>>So what about 3mile Island and all the rest of the none DANGEROUS NP power plants around the word

  • your an idiot it is in ukraine and they might not have had the funds to do what your expecting also nuclear power is still a quite new power supply

  • When the accident happened, it was in soviet russia.

  • OMFG the baby born without... anus.... disgusting !

  • It would be kinda cool to walk thru the deserted City (if it wasn´t so dangerous)
