I was at this concert out at the Ritz at Lake Las Vegas. The entire concert was to die for, but especiallly this rendition of "Autumn Leaves". Ms. Berti's voice added
such depth to Andrea's speaking. The night was spectacular. I have seen Andrea in concert at least 10 times, and can't wait for next week, when we fly to New York to see him in Central Park. Long live Andrea Bocelli, the greatest singer of our time.....................
@arussellcampion: Just listened to the artist you mentioned in your comment "...Yves Montand's clip..." and agree with you that he (your artist suggestion) does sing it very well. It is not for me to disagree or, to agree with you. It is simply just what it is. I prefer Bocelli and you, it appears would take Montand over my preference. I can deal with that. I think I'll stick with my choice. Thanks for your feedback. I appeciate your thoughts... :)
OMG Yves Montand made this song classic, his version is an ultimate original performance. Bocelli does a great job, still you can hardly compare this versions. However, listen to the one by the late, great Eva Cassidy, who really made this song her own. Her version is beyond comparison.
@altar7 I agree - the addition of fast vibrato really is the torturous icing on the cake. An Italian who struggles with phrasing his own language in song attempts a classic in another language he can never hope to master within an infantile arrangement. Shame, shame!
This is a great song...and Andrea Bocelli sings it like nobody can do! The replay button --- 0:00 --- is for others like me who loves Andrea Bocelli and all of his songs!
@jabe55 You should look up Yves' version when he was older. He sings it with the pathos it deserves. That being said, you have a right to your opinion and I have a right to mine. Also, Veronica does not belong in this song or any other song Andrea sings. I don't know what kind of songs you sing, but I have a feeling I would not ever like to hear you.
@bella6626 Lol! I am a classical singer. If you like Andrea's style, you'll like mine as well; although Andrea is my superior in this regard. We can agree on Veronica at least. She looks like an uptight snob in my opinion.
@cuoredeinidi And yet another song by Bocelli "Besame Mucho" - in the same style but, in my opinion, by far the best version ever recorded. So, it's not the singing style after all. Maybe it's the arrangement in this case. And, of course, Ramon Stagnaro's guitar that injected so much passion into the song! I don't know. But whatever it is, it's outstanding. And even though Lucho Gatica's version supposedly is the best but I like this verson better.
@cuoredeinidi I absolutely agree with what you said. But at the same time, the same beautiful song performed in two different styles by two great performers perceived differently. There is no logic in claiming the superiority of one singing style over another. So it's purely a matter of taste. And that's what I meant.
Bocelli's voice is superb! But Yves Montand's unparalleled singing style and his 'Les Feuilles Mortes' is the reason why some of us are not very satisfied with how Bocelli performed this particular song.
@pexaminer Strange, I have heard Yves sing this song on many occasions and with my singing background it is my expert opinion that Andrea sings this song better. Yves sometimes sounded like he was talking the lyrics, not singing them and that kills the passion of the song. Andrea sings it better all around.
@123Citty Maybe he wanted to sing this song to the love of his life. Give them both a break and remember what it was like if you were ever in love. Besides she fought him about this and did not want to do it. He insisted. She did it because she loves him.
I take french at school and my freind is always saying how ugly french is, but goodness gracious! Andrea Makes it sound soooo beautiful! Omg that's so cute, Andrea singing with his fiance, Veronica.. :)
Thanks for sharing this beautiful song and great rendition by my favorite Andrea Bocelli: The Autumns' Agony - Val As the skies turn from blue to gray And the leaves turn from summer green ...To the bright autumn colors That will fill thy heart with silence As the autumn leaves fall that Grey skies and cold winter chill Will bring tears into my eyes As the snow flies high above That All I can dream is to be far away And let the pain and the sorrows deep within Be buried forever.....Val
Some languages are more poetical than others, and French is definitely one of them. There are subtle nuances in different languages that can never be conveyed in another one, so in short, this song is best expressed in its originally written language, French.
What a beautiful couple they make. Her voice is lovely too. It's a gorgeously romantic song and I'm not sure if it's his interpretation or the song itself that is so tender and sad.
I am well aware of his loss of eye site, but some one was kind enough to tell me that his wife left him. Call me old fashion but too many broken marriages. My comment had nothing to do with him being blind, nothing at all. He will always have my heart when it comes to his voice. This is just youtube and a place to make comments of what we understand or don't understand. And a place to learn and be enlightened. I can not help but to feel for a love gone especially if one becomes famous
Did leave him they are not legally married becasue they were married throught the church i think they are barley going throught divorce with the court..
And Now His Fiance Is Veronica Berti but he has said many times he will never marry her do to him being catholic ..i hope i helped
Nope, never was either. Marriage was a bartering of one family to another up until the early 1900's. Marriage was never sacred, and don't fool yourself into thinking that historically it was anything other than a business deal.

i love him and he broke my heart. I am all for the andrea whom had his babies on his lap with his WIFE! just because he was founded around the world like a tornado, surrounded by beautiful woman, he would still have my heart if he had stayed with his first love, mother of children through his fame. I could cry. sings like no other, but Im for family and love, works both ways, he or she that become famous. marriage is tough sometimes but one cant forget the love shared. shame of him
Oh God, His voice makes me cry. I could listen to him 24 hours a day. I wish him long life. Could someone please tell him, if something happens to me and I die he can have my eyes, but again, it is better to be blind in this unfair world then to see all those unfairness that we see.
LOL! it's the melody from autumn leaves...a jazz standard wich Yves Montand used to do a version to himself...like every jazz band , singer , orchestra do! Sorry it's not because of Yves Montand if Autumn leaves his a classic!
We sang this song with Mr. Walker in the sixth grade. It is good to remember that children understand. The whole class loved this song. Thank you Andre for reminding me how special Mr. Walker was. Thank you for a wonderful song and video.
@sealharvey Mr. Walker? As in Ken Walker? He's my french teacher right now.. I'm just wondering if it's the same Walker because I'm sure there are a bunch of walkers lol
I loveeee Andrea Bocelli and I adoreeee this song..his song "Melodramma" is what made me first fall in love with him..and I was so lucky to see him sing before the Pyramids here in Egypt..Love u!
I was watching a biography of Andrea a long time ago, which made me fall in love with his voice. It was explained that Andrea possesses a 'vulnerability' in his voice - and this is so true. He's wonderful, and just knowing that he cannot see the beauty of the world with his eyes, it manifests in his voice, wouldn't you agree? flawless.

LOL! it's the melody from autumn leaves...a jazz standard wich Yves Montand used to do a version to himself...like every jazz band , singer , orchestra do! Sorry it's not because of Yves Montand if Autumn leaves his a classic!

Autumn Leaves was based on Les Feuilles Mortes, not the other way around. The French song came first.

I was watching a biography of Andrea a long time ago, which made me fall in love with his voice. It was explained that Andrea possesses a 'vulnerability' in his voice - and this is so true. He's wonderful, and just knowing that he cannot see the beauty of the world with his eyes, it manifests in his voice, wouldn't you agree? flawless.

@chicanoxxx69 This is the worst version I have ever heard. What were they thinking? Veronica sucks.
