I am an operatic tenor, but i happen to be indian by birth, although i was raised in the US...yes, some indian classical is amazing, if u listen to someone like M.M.S, but otherwise, if there is a singer not singing from his/her soul, indian classical can get really ugly really fast....listen to her Bhaja Govindam, its truly enchanting...she is the only singer that grabs my attention, outside the world of opera
So true! I woke up this morning hearing M.S.S. singing to me. It went on for an hour. She was singing "Vishnu Sahasranama." I believe she knew I had some bad news lately and she was consoling me...from spirit world! Karen Devaki
the lyrics(3): In this Kaliyuga You have entered the sanctum You have come to stay at Tirumala Where, though I see you not, I have no complaints. Keshava! When Mahalakshmi is there with You To stay on Your chest, Why should I have any complaints?

the lyrics (2): You stand veiled by a screen Which only the learned can part For they are wise Which I am not But no, no complaints have I. You stand as the crown of Venkata Giver of Boons Immutable God Father to these hills I have no complaints Govinda! Govinda!
the lyrics (1) : I have no complaints, my Lord, None, Lord of Wisdom Kannan! Though you stand Where I cannot see You, My light, my very eyes, Protector of all beings, I know You sustain me O Lord of the pure Venkata hill! You meet my hunger, my thirst My hope, my prayer You keep me from harm, I need nothing else Father of the Seven Hills, Govinda! Govinda!
the melody and the lyrics are of an exceptional beauty. It's a metaphysical, deeply religious song full of wisdom, (happy) surrender and devotion. MS Subbulakshmi rendition here -at old age- makes it one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing songs I've ever heard. The lyrics tell about a devotee's experience of absolute faith in God, the devotee is content with worshipping the Lord inspite of His absence.

her last performance at the age of 81, in 1997 ; there's so much knowledge and wisdom in her notes and so much intensity in her sound, Pure Bliss for the listener! Subbulakshmi's voice is divine and a true carrier of this great tradition
vote up if you knew this is kurai ondrum illai just on reading the title . . :):)

You have to post Who is singing, where, when, who are the accompaniments, what is the song/ Lyrics, etc.
Many westerners watch these stuff too.
I like what I hear. But, I am completely at a loss as to what the hell am I listening to.
This is a common problem to many uploads.
