  • She was born in holy town of Madurai.. she already possessed all the divine powers of singing.. as if she was born to sing, born to get attached to lord.. born to show us the path and make us mesmerised by her lovely voice.. Evergreen voice of Madurai Shanmugavadivu Subbulaxmi!! Im blessed to hear to her singing....!!!!

  • GOD OF CARNATIC MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

  • You have to post Who is singing, where, when, who are the accompaniments, what is the song/ Lyrics, etc.

Many westerners watch these stuff too.

I like what I hear. But, I am completely at a loss as to what the hell am I listening to.

This is a common problem to many uploads.

  • @A123632

its BharatRatna Dr. M. S. SUBBULAKSHMI . . A well-known carnatic classic vocalist . . she's accompanied by gowri ramnarayan (vocal support)(dont know the names of other accompanists) . this was her last concert . . in the year 1997 . . where she was awarded swaralaya puraskaram . . the song is a composition of C. Rajagopalachari . .

the uploader, probably, didnt feel the need to give any description . .

  • The song goes like this-I do not have any problems krishna... (contradicting the fact that a human being has many problems, reassuring onself "when krishna is here, no problems will come to me)

  • She says "O Lord, I dont have any shortcomings. I feel complete. Thanks to your grace, my Lord, I am contended and delighted......"

  • She also has a beautiful instrument - try to listen to some MSS in her prime (1950s, 60s, etc.)

You meet my hunger, my thirst My hope, my prayer You keep me from harm, I need nothing else Father of the Seven Hills, Govinda! Govinda!

  • the melody and the lyrics are of an exceptional beauty. It's a metaphysical, deeply religious song full of wisdom, (happy) surrender and devotion. MS Subbulakshmi rendition here -at old age- makes it one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing songs I've ever heard. The lyrics tell about a devotee's experience of absolute faith in God, the devotee is content with worshipping the Lord inspite of His absence.

  • Wonderfull translation.. Thank u soo much

  • her last performance at the age of 81, in 1997 ; there's so much knowledge and wisdom in her notes and so much intensity in her sound, Pure Bliss for the listener! Subbulakshmi's voice is divine and a true carrier of this great tradition
