Papa, tu me manques !
God I hate the sound of piezo undersaddle transducers. It's that nasty springy rubber band quack that sounds horrible and ruins otherwise excellent playing. Doesn't anyone hear it but me? Piezo USTs should be outlawed. They're everywhere too and musicians like this who are so excellent don't seem to hear it. It's an epidemic of bad sound.
An amazing talent... Such a master .. I have always loved his playing and compositions ... I wish he would gain more recognition... he is up there amongts the greatest finger pickers... but also he is a wonderful and masterful composer .... I think Marcel composed more great music than his Master Chet ever did...not sure ..but I love everything he did. Get the word out folks
I love everything he did, too. But... the wonderful and masterful composer of "Saturday Night Shuffle" was the originator of thumb-pickin', Merle Travis. And Marcel, were he still alive, would tell you he learned more about the guitar from the 'amateurs' he met in Muhlenburg County Kentucky than he ever got from Chet.
I think he didn't get as much exposure 'cause his compositions weren't as authentic sounding as someone like Atkins or Travis. He was a great player but not necessarily a great musician, atleast not in this musical milieu (IMHO).
@JSGuitar80 aargh.. something must be wrong with me!!! I love Marcels compositions.. in fact I believe many are better than those of Atkins and Travis... .. but thats my opinion... and maybe something is wrong with me.. but maybe its also because I lived in Europe 15 years.... and so the authenticity or even better some foreign flovoring is exactly what I appreciated and others did not?... Regarding musicianship.. I urge you to reconsider that comment.

@guitarcapo I agree, but it does give the bass lines a nice twangy sound.
