I'm not a smoker of any kind. but I am a realist. I know marijuana should be legal since alcohol is. Alsohol is far more destructive and have caused the death of countless people health wise and due to handling machinery. To my knowledge I cant find a SINGLE death that resulted from marijuana use. Somebody prove me wrong plz. The american system is highly flawed.

I went through a ton of issues with alcohol. Nearly cost my life on a number of occasions. I am a full blown alcoholic (once I start, it is hard for me to stop till I have a pretty good fade on). So...I quit drinking. However when I did that I had depression, anxieties and other sorts of issues. So I started smoking herb again and I can fully function without any of the symptoms I was experiencing due to the years of alcohol abuse. Should I go back to drinking just because it is legal?

I also have been smoking every day for the last 5 years and have no intention of ever doing any hard drugs. According to the "theory" of the gateway effect coffee would lead to meth. I enjoy the recreational use of cannabis so much I rarly drink alcohol. My father cannot smoke due to his job drug testing. He drinks every day. I think if marijuana laws changed he could smoke with me insted of drink, in turn adding many years to his life!!

Yeah, if marijuana is a "gateway" drug...well then so is alcohol. You drink, get your buzz on, you loosen up but some people want more of a buzz. Some will reach for harder alcohol, whereas other may reach for harder drugs. But this clearly demonstrates how flawed the "gateway" theory is.

Yeah, it was good weed, and my tolerance would be non existent.

It was scary, and I got a hangover (which was fixed by a single panadol), but I don't regret it at all.

It's obviously not as bad as alcohol because I would have had to have quite a lot to get the effects that I did, and would be likely to be in a hospital being treated for alcohol poisoning.

I don't regret it at all. It was an awesome experience that I feel no need to do again.

There's no withdrawl symptoms associated with marijuana due to it not being physically addictive.. Bad choice of words, but would rather you smoke than drink or take a Panadol. Because you don't smoke the whole thing. If you're smoking medical grade or any good quality herb, you don't smoke the whole thing. Just give it 3 - 4 good hits, then put it out.

Fact: The current marijuana law in the United States places an all around ban on the usage, and sale of marijuana. This blanket policy makes it easier for people of ANY age to obtain it. It is extremely easy to get a hold of, all you need is money. Dealers don't ask for ID. If it were legalized, regulated, taxed, and commercialized, there would be age restrictions, making it MUCH harder for children to get their hands on. The FACT is that there is not really even an argument to be had.

The biggest problem is the kids having to deal with a criminal element to obtain it. Who knows what could happen to them in a bad neighborhood or buying from the wrong dude on the street. How about purity, too?
