@Legio207 Some high res textures and skins won't do that. When you have an engine advanced off of a previous it's always going to be seemlessly better. Kind of like Crysis 1 vs. Crysis 2. People believe that 1 looks better once modded, but then mod 2 and see where it gets ya. ;)

@exsinner You people have to understand that they are working on the same source engine just updated, they have never used a different engine, only updated it, and development of the source engine is kind of slow, because Valve doesn't have as many people working on the source engine as, for example, battlefield's Dice engine. which has maybe 5x more people working on the engine than valve does on the source engine.but it does progress well. this is basically as @Legio207 said
