question. is this guy a blue angel? i just ask because i see he is wearing a blue flight suit and yellow shirt unless thats what they wear in the navy normally?
@gu0ar0di7an He is from VFA-192 Golden Dragons. They like to wear the blue flight suits with the golden shirt. If you look at his helmet at 2:39 you can see the golden dragon on his helmet. He is launching and landing on the USS Kitty Hawk.

no no no. Lots of Patriots in Canada. Don't know why you automatically judge canada from like 0.00000003% of the population.
Anyways. I respect the military. But I don't go all sucky, and thank them. They're not doing any good overseas anyways. The government is just wasting their lives. I feel sorry for them. I don't thank them.
IF this was a world war. I would thank them. Because they are serving for our good. Right now...it's a partisans war.
Not doing any good overseas?! What about all the reconstruction and training of defence forces the Canadian army has been doing in Afghanistan? Do you know anything beyond what you hear on CBC?
I only tolerate people like you only because it means the service of myself, my brothers and sisters in arms and all those before us has not been in vain. If idiots like you have the freedom and the privilage to say stuff like this without being killed by our government then we have done our job.
F-35 will be taking over the A-10 Warthog(maybe not in Air National Guard), the F-16, F-15 Eagle(not Strike Eagle), F-18 Hornet (not Super Hornet), and the AV-8 Harrier.
It is disigned for close ground support, bombing, and air superiority. And dont tell me anything about Su-37s, Migs, or Eurofighter Typhoons because they ARE NOT as good. V/STOL(vertical take off/ short landing) for Marines, STOL(standard take off & landing) for Air Force, and CV (carrier variant) for Navy.
I'm going to be an Air Force fighter pilot, hopefully I will be able to fly the F22 or F15 maybe the F16, but anyways, I love the Air Force but I have to admit that the navy pilots have sum HUGE balls(NO HOMO) to land on a moving ship, day n nite, good n bad weather on top of that, with the landing strip a couple yards long, while ours is THOUSANDS of feet. But I want to show my deep respect for you navy pilots out there b/c I would never want to have your jobs b/c i wouldnt have the balls.LMAO
it will eventually. The navy is currently using the f35 now in test flights. The f-35 is replacing everything, f-16s f-182 and harriers with the VTOL version for marines (the one seen in die hard 4)
He is from VFA-192 Golden Dragons. They like to wear the blue flight suits with the golden shirt. If you look at his helmet at 2:39 you can see the golden dragon on his helmet. He is launching and landing on the USS Kitty Hawk.
No shit... thanks tips... Canadians launch off of US carriers all the time, its in the NorAD edicts. Its the same as Canadian JTF being dropped off by US Blackhawks, and the USAF using the MTA in Cold Lake, Alberta.
just wondering cause i am in the navy and do work on the flight deck. never have seen a naval pilot on a ship or at an air station in a blue suit and yellow t-shirt...cept the blue angels pilots when i was in pensacola.
Yeah, I understand, the confusion is being from different countries. I'm with the Canadian Air Force. Mostly because our primary fighters are the F-18 Hornets, and we have no carriers or Navy Aviators, our Air force pilots train with the USN to get trap certified for allied excursions.
I work in the arresting gear on a nimitz class carrier. I must say i respect these guys, BUT GODDAMN CAN THEY CAUSE ME LONG HOURS OF MAINTENANCE!!! lol, its worth it though. keep soaring navy!
At the jet launches off the deck does it get a push from a catatpult? Does the pilot have the trottle set at full or maybe 3/4 already...anyone know please? Thanks. VFA-192 and the Golden Dragons will always be in my mind after seeing this amzng video.

this is a squadron from Japan VFA-192. jets are easy to learn :) landing on the carrier is the hard part. besides that my pilots always say its like driving a car
if anybody wants to be a fighter pilot nowadays there looking for kids with 4.0s and high ass scores on a.c.t 's and depending on what branch you fly for 100out every 1000 people who apply to the naval academy make and only 1 out those 100 will earn there wings, becoming an aviator for the navy these days is a very long road of hard acheivements but if you make it, its one of the coolest jobs.
agree. I think more people need to be realistic. If you're not scoring 98+ percentile on test scores, you likely won't make it. You have to be more or less perfect.
the A/C's launch bar attaches to the shuttle, also the hold back fitting is conected to the H/B bar which releases upon cat release, the shuttle sends the A/C down the catapult until the launch bar releases and the shuttle is retracted once another A/C is on spot!
The f-18 are not getting replaced everything one the super hornets are not the normal hornets some are them wont be in use super hornets the DOD said they will stay they unitl 2030 -2040 i know i didnt believe it myself cause you'lld think that they would have like alien type aircraft by than the way it's going the f-35 are great planes but i dont think it could beat a super hornet depends on pilot just looks at the stats and compare them
It's not hydraulic at all, it's powered by steam from the ships own reactor. It's a British guy that invented the steam catapult and funny thing is the Brits don't have a Carrier this size to use the steam catapult lol.
There is a shuttle right below the aircraft's front gear and the aircraft connects to it with the T-Bar and they connect the holdback bar to keep it in place when giving full power and steam is charged into the piston from the ships reactor when enough steam is charged the catapult officer releases the piston and so janks the aircraft and the shuttle forward in less than a second you'll be traveling at 180mph it's very violent for the weak hearted.
sorry for this, witch profession is best? archeologist, fireman, police officer, fighter piolt, PI, parkour/freerunning teacher, or profesional actor? because i cant make up my mind but fighter pilot is among the top for me with firefighter.
Another way is you can st go into the navy inlisted and you can fill out an officer pakage and send it in and then if your leutenents and captains put in a good word for ya like your responsible and capable to do what needs to be done you will be sent to flight school and youdont ne 20/20 vision you just ned to have it corrected but u cant wear glasses or contacts you can either get lasic or you can get yor oxygen/gas makes visor made so its just like one big pair of glasses
If you go to Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, you pass the ASTB, and you have vision close to 20/20 or correctable to 20/20 they GUARANTEE you a seat in flight school after completing 10 weeks of Officer Candidate School, and 6 months on Basic Officers Course (Since you're a Marine you need basic infnatry skills). However, once you finish the 6 months, you go on the Pensacola for flight school. The training evolution at flight school is about 2 years, then you hit the fleet.
ur gonna need alot more than a high scool diploma chief. Being a fighter jet pilot is not something you can just sign up for. You need to have spectacular boards and, more often that not, you have to attend the service academies for college (Annapolis, Colorado Springs, West Point, George Washington, etc...) and to get in to those you need, well, very good grades.
you have to have 20/20 vision, must be athletic, and you cant have any health shortcomings (asthma, flat feet, or heart problems)
You need a 4-year college degree, need to graduate from one of the Officer Candidate Schools, and be chosen for that service's flight program. I only know about the Navy's program - there are a series of flight training stages; Primary (where the class is split between Jets, Rotors, and Fixed Wing). If chosen for Jets there is Intermediate and Advanced (T-45), then wings, then you go to the Replacement Air Group, your first squadron for your a/c, ie F/A - 18. The lesson? Don't stop studying!
Marine Corps GUARANTEES seats at flight school if you qualify for it, which is basically what artyymac7 listed. You also have to complete Marine Corps Officer Candidate School as well which is extremely tough. When you hit the fleet. you'll be a fighter pilot, naval aviator, and U.S. Marine all rolled up into one. You need to be enrolled in a 4 year college to apply though. PM me if you need more info.
Go Marines not navy...they have nicer bases and they will be flying the f-35s first and all their old trashy f-18s and harriers will be replaced by the f-35b/c's.

The training evolution at flight school is about 2 years, then you hit the fleet.

so what would i have 2 do to become a fighter jet pilot? im workin on my high school diploma but i kinda dont know what else to do...anybody?
Anthonyk14 3 years ago
ur gonna need alot more than a high scool diploma chief.

Most pilots do not come out of the military academies...

talk to your nearest NAVY recruiter they wil tell u everything u want to know. or go on the NAVYs website
