Android has come a long way in terms of responsiveness. I'm totally sold on buying this phone as my upgrade come January. If I don't like it, I'll just make good use of the 30 day return policy and stay in my comfort zone of using an iPhone but more than likely, this will prob be my new phone :D

Well I actually bought an SII and like it mucho. This is a good review, and for those wondering about call quality, it is very good. The speaker is a little rough at higher volumes, but definitely passable.

Excellent review. I'm having a hard time deciding between this phone and the google nexus which will be out next month. Nexus only has 5 mp cam and super amoled display though. So does ice cream sandwich overcome those two downsides?

Not sure why you`re having a hard time deciding.

The Galaxy Nexus is a midrange phone. The S2 is a high-range phone.

The Nexus has a lesser camera (as you noticed) and doesn`t allow memory expansion , you can`t fit a memory card. Ice cream sandwich cannot make a 5 megapixel camera better than an 8 megapixel camera or make the screen better.

If you`re looking for the best phone then there`s no decision, the S2 wins hands down easily.

Something newer does not always mean better.

this is tough... getting a new phone from tmobile. i currently have an HTC but I'm willing to get anything from the best of the best, even out of my HTC comfort zone. @MagicDrumSticks i don't know about your source of info, but it will be a super amoled not plus and it is a big difference( imagine that samsung galaxy s has a 480x800 res same as gs2 but although the s2 has a bigger screen it has a better resolution because of the sub-pixels, ~1 mil on the s2 and ~700k on galaxy s) and besides that the simple amoled uses the pen-tile technology wich has its disadvantages, check out on google about the difference between sa and sa+

However, we're not talking much, so if you've got a budget of around £300 ($478) then bid for a Galaxy S II on eBay. Find a good one on there that's either brand new or has only been used for a week or something.

Screw buying it for its retail price for £200 more :)

Exynos; SuperAMOLED+) than Apple's iPhone. iPhone's touchscreens are manufactured by the same company that supplies Nokia, SonyE and Motorola, Bluetooth by Cambridge, A4 and some A5 chips from Samsung and other components from Marvel, Philips and Broadcom. @EP8841 Hey, if you really want a quality phone that is fast, slim, light-weight, you should go for the galaxy s2. Also, the main reason i got attracted to the galaxy s2 was the super AMOLED screen. It looks amazing in real life. Plus the camera is awesome. The galaxy s2 is better than the Xperia Arc or Play in every way i could think of. Maybe their design is better, but the galaxy s2 is still goodlooking.

For those who wonder about the battery life of this phone compared to the iPhone, remember one thing: you can always carry a spare battery for an Android phone, whereas you CANNOT with an iPhone! That's why I ended up taking my iPhone 4 back - I'm a heavy all-day business/pleasure user and after 8 hours it would need recharging (I'm on the move all day and don't have access to a charger). With an Android phone, no problem! Slip in your extended life SPARE battery and you double the battery life!

To all those Apple fans from hell... Apple sets a standard to be beaten by other manufacturers, like The Galaxy S2. Retina display vs Super AMOLED Plus? Galaxy S2 beats the sh*t out of apple's retina display. The resolution of the IPhone 4 is larger than GS2, and still everything looks better on SG2. Speed? Man, the iPhone is like a PC, the more you use it, the slower it gets. Take browsing, SG2 just flies through pages and loading videos. You guys should test this phone live against an iPhone4
