Great educational video. He'd answered my question, such as why some videos showed placement on the torso rather than limbs. Now I know that the limb leads can be either on the limbs or torso. I love YouTube! I'm learning more now on YouTube than I had ever did in college! LOL.
you dont use a NRB if the patients sats are holding above 95%, 02 causes vasoconstriction, thats the last thing you want the the coronary artery that is blocked to do. hints why we give nitro, its all about vasodilation
@CrashBandikoot7 im a paramedic, when i do a 12 lead on a woman i put the sticky's (wires) under the breast, not on them. i've put them on the breast and it gave a bad reading. every time i put them under it comes out clear. you hardly ever get a perfect patient so just do your best! and always take the bra off, some have metal in them and is srews with the reading. there's no place for being shy in EMS!
If one is uncomfortable with performing this on a woman it is possible to complete the task with the patients bra in place. If that is not possible a towel can be used to cover most, but not all of the breast area.

Leads V1 & V2 should be the fourth intercostal down, no more than 1/2 inch from the sternum. The limb lead placement should only be varied in cases of severe wounds or amputations to the limbs and then the lower stomach or upper chest areas can be used.
Question, can you expand upon the limb leads placed on the torso instead. Its around 6.57mins into the video.
I was always taught to place 'on the limbs' but i often see them placed on the torso in the real world emergency situation. What difference if any does it make?
Why the electrodes on the legs? I went to the doc and he examined only with the fingers, in the same place of the leg electrodes, was that to assess the heart? it was very quick.
thank you sooo much for this! I have been out of the field for a few years and am going back in tomorrow!! needed a refresher crash course. thanks again!!!
so true.... especially being a guy like me... the woman sometimes feel uncomfortable. But they always let me do it on them. I said it is very important for the outcome of their diagnosis... especially if they are having chest pain. :-D
@iadknee It isn't that bad so long as you explain to the patient what you are doing, why you are doing it, and use the back of your hand to lift the breast discreetly. Never grab the breast with the palm of your hand, it is poor form.
Treat the patient first then apply the 12 lead remember he could still be having an AMI and it may not show just like he explained in the video it may go away so treat regardless of your findings treat the patient not the monitor
I really liked your channel and this video. If you need any help getting this video exposed I use a site called tubeviews (dot) net It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position.
There is software im using to send atleast 30,000 text message a day advertising my online business...it is amazing. I think they have free demos to try as well.

I recently had this in ER. The nurse placed BioTabs on my body, then clipped the wires on. It was an interesting experience, as I've never been to a doctors or hospital in 36 years.
He is not driving at all. The camera is located across the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle. The camera is positioned low so that it is not obstructing the view of the driver.
Great video. Thanks a lot. Very educational and so learnt a lot that would have otherwise taken a long time.
I teach a lot of nurses memory skills, and this video is a nice learning tool!

@pebbles1052 what is "intercostal rib?" there is no such a thing? u mean intercostal space? "cost=rib in latin" so no need for the "rib" again!
thnx....

is it safe to drive whilst holding a book and looking at a camera and not at the road ??!!
trix1210 4 years ago
It is OBVIOUSLY no..
& please do put in mind that the video is for ECG purposes, not driving safely.
and also,
I personally don't think he is the one driving..
I don't see the steering wheel.
even if he holds the steering wheel, the car might be on another larger vehicle, hence no need for steering.
