  • Cross with an icon of Jesus on it. Interesting.

  • Incredible chanting. Jesus told us to love everyone including those who may seem to deserve it the least. We have no place to judge.

Let's all enjoy celebrating Easter at the same time this year...Happy Easter everyone

  • Nice original Tessaloniki Eifos!!

  • Fellow Orthodox, let us show love to our fellow human beings. To say that this or that is not Christian and outside the pale of salvation is NOT the mindset we Orthodox have. We cannot restrict God's love and mercy to anybody. Orthodox can say only where salvation is--and this with HUMILITY--not where it is not. Let our Lords's meeting with the Samaritan woman teach us, that we not be haughty. Καλή Ανάσταση!

  • Προσκηνουμεν τα παθη σου ΧΡΗΣΤΕ

  • Bravo Hari, xara na akouso tin foni sou kai

    avtin tin omorfi mousiki!

  • oraia i psalmodia tou theoseptou idiomelou toutou! doxa Theo!

  • Long live our Greeks brothers and all orthodox kind!!!

  • doxa thoi teoi panta eneken!

  • Until Christianity was preached by St Paul, people believed in the 12 Gods and others. Paul preached in Greek because Greek was the written language of that time. The first Christians were Christian Orthodox (meaning correct dogma). The Catholics created their rules after the 'Schism' between Rome and the East and this was mainly for Power. Apart from minor missinterpretations of the 'Creed' Orthodoxy and Catholicism are the same. As for the rest.. you judge by yourselves!

  • differances in the calender, the way we do our cross, wine and bread (blood and body) and the list goes on.

how dare we as humans break the body of christ (the church) in two! Orthodoxy preaching the truth since 33 AD!

God bless the true faith amen!

  • Asmarino45 is right. We are all Christians.

I am Catholic, but I like Orthodox chants.

  • You are right my friend. Just to add to your comment, I am Orhodox, I received Catholic Education in a country in which Christiams/Moslems/Jews/Hindus etc lived peacefully side by side with mutual love and respect!

  • we are not all Christian i will never consider catholic or protestant Christian. They are responsible for genocide and force convention. They destroyed wonderful cultures of the world because they consider them barberic. They have launched many crusades agianst my homeland and now send missionersy from american to try and convert us from orthodox calling us sinners and pagans. You are never christian you are nothing but vile people who uses there faith for politics and greed.

  • first of all when Christ died, he didnt die for the "orthodox", he died for radical change. for u to say catholics are not christians is horrible. u can go ur whole saying kyrie elieson but when was the last time u walked into the world and told u neighbor kyrie elieson? i am sick of the orthodox and ur hard headedness. i love how u can claim urselves to be perfect and everyone else is fake. before u remove the speck from ur brothers eye remove the plank in ur own!

  • catholic is a pagan faith founded by the roman empire and had done nothing but blood shed, crusades and force convert. You have murder thousands of orthodox Muslims and other peaceful people for your vile faith.

  • Catholicism (or Papism) has significantly distorted the Orthodox faith (e.g., see the heresies of Filioque, the "primacy" of the pope, his "infallibility," etc.) The misinterpretations of the New Testament and of the Ecumenical Councils are NOT minor. As Dostoyefski has said, Papism is worse than atheism, since the former presents a distorted and wrong Christ, whereas the latter simply refuses to believe in Christ.

  • u my friend, have disorted Christ by simply denying me a Catholic at your table. can u justify your feelings with actual Jesus? can you rightly say Jesus would say the same thing you are saying?

  • By denying to celebrate a holy feast together with a heretic an Orthodox

    Christian demonstrates his true Love

toward the heretic, because the latter

might realize that he is in error, repent, and save his soul. On the other hand,

pretending that we are all the same, as the modern ecumenists preach, is the worst kind of hatred toward the heretic.

  • because Jesus denied the unclean to enter the temple, because he allowed prostitutes, publicans, and zealots to sit with him? we are not the same, but we are united in Christ. if even if you think the Orthodox are perfect they arent because they are only human. Denying Catholicism is denying the Holy Spirit, since we are from the seat of St. Peter. Denying Orthodoy denies the seat of St. Andrew. the same with St. Mark. WE are all led by the Holy Spirit.

  • No, my friend, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Truth and does not stay wherever

a heresy (=Devil's teaching) is preached.

Jesus said that whoever changes even

an iota or an intonation from His Teaching goes to Hell. The papists have turned everything upside down. Embrace Orthodoxy and then practise all the virtues that you mentioned (love, forgiveness, etc.) to save your soul. Outside the Church (as is "catholicism")

    there is no salvation.

  • You sound to me much more interested in Orthodoxy than Christianity.... ~_~

  • so ur saying that salvation is only attainable through ur church? dont u dare put a limit on Gods love and mercy! Read the prophet Amos and see God's mercy. The Catholic church is the True church and is continued to be led by the Holy Spirit! we are able to have ecumenical coucils because we consist of all the Rites. The orthodox have yet to move to the future since u are only comprimised of only one see and are unable to recognize the voices of Peter, and Mark. CHRISTOS ANESTI! CHRIST IS RISEN!

  • @phati129: Ignoring deliberately the teachings of the Apostles, of the Ecumenical Councils, and of the Church Fathers leads you from error to error, and from misinterpretation to misinterpretation. Where on earth did you derive the conclusion that the loss of the heretics is due to the "limited love and mercy of God"?

  • no one ignores the teachings of the Apostles nor of Christ....but to say that many of the teachings do not need improvement is kind of odd. a law, i would think, might need to be revised if it is oh lets say 1900 years old. others dont need to be. the Church today is much diffrent than it was 2000 years ago but its the same church except it adopted new traditions or new teachings for the time we live in now. and on a personal level i take offense at u calling me a heretic.

  • take the plank out of ur own eye before u remove the speck of dust from your brothers'

  • So you think of the panheresy of Ecumenism as a "speck"!!! This shows how much you know or care about the Faith taught by Jesus Christ and His Apostles. Good bye.

  • dhatzinik, the Orthodox Church is both the true, historic Christian faith, and the one true faith, but she is not the keeper of salvation. Non-Orthodox can be saved. However, non-Orthodox cannot acquire our goal in this life, Theosis (union with God).

  • The Church Fathers teach that there is no salvation outside the Church, unless a person has never come across with the Bible, in which case, as Apostle Paul teaches, he/she will be judged according to his/her consciousness and his/her works.

  • dhatzinik, I previously shared a similar view, until I learned about the Orthodox Church's view of grace, of which there are two kinds: God's uncreated external divine grace, and His uncreated internal divine grace. Both are all-present and save one who has faith in Christ. However, the latter is only accessible to a person (in this life) through Orthodox Baptism; and through our spiritual and liturgical lives, we attain Theosis.

  • I am not a theologian, so I may be wrong on this, but I have never heard or read this view; it sounds ecumenistic to me. You said that you "learned" this, but you should make sure that your source is truly Orthodox. These days a lot of clergy and theologians who claim to be orthodox, in fact they are not; they are ecumenists, like "patriarch" Bartholomew and many others.

  • dhatzinik, I'm not sure if Youtube deleted my previous post because I provided a link. But Orthodox Christians must distinguish between God's uncreated divine essence and His uncreated divine (external and internal) grace/energies/light. Monoenerginism (the heresy that God as only one energy) was condemned by the 6th Ecumenical Council.

  • I did not say or imply anything about the heresy of Monoenerginism. I only said that, according to the Church Fathers, the view that salvation in general is possible outside the Orthodox Church sounds ecumenistic, i.e., heretical, simply because it is against the dogma of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

  • dhatzinik, the Orthodox Christian Information Center has a great article entitled, "II. The Orthodox View of Grace". In Orthodoxy, the purpose of our life is Theosis (to become by grace what God is by nature), and not simply salvation when we die, as Westerners think. Non-Orthodox who sincerely believe in Christ can be saved at the end of time, but in this life, can't acquire union with God, for only the Orthodox Church was founded by Christ. Ecumenism is indeed fueled by the Antichrist.

  • ICXCNIKA, thank you for the specific reference on the subject. I took a quick look at it and found it ANTI-patristic, since it says that cardinals and other heretics who perform good deeds (like mother Teresa) can be saved. The Church Fathers (e.g., St. John Chrysostom, Theodore Studite, and others) teach that the heretics and those who KNOWINGLY have ecclesiastic communion with them will be lost. Their good deeds will count against (!) them, as they help their heresies to be spread out.

  • dhatzinik, it's a good point you bring up, about the heresies being spread out. And I want to make it clear that I hate Ecumenism, and I believe the New Calendar Church has fallen into the heresy of Ecumenism. To put it concisely, I maintain there's no salvation outside of Christ, and no union with God (in this life) outside the Orthodox Church, the one and only Church. Only God can judge one's heart.

  • ICXCNIKA, I agree with your statements about Ecumenism and the New Calendar Church as well as with the statement that God is THE ONLY final judge of goes where after death. We simply have to spread out the word of God, as taught by the Church Fathers, and avoid making our own judgements on such issues as salvation.

  • dhatzinik, and also, to the best we can, live as Orthodox Christians, both for the benefit of our own souls, and as an example to the Heterodox. But more difficult, we also have the task of, when encountering New Calendarists, letting them know Orthodox need to bring the Heterodox into the Orthodox Church--the true path to Salvation. But my point is, some Heterodox don't care. That's why we need to tell them of our goal in this life, Theosis.

  • We have a mission to EVERYONE we meet in our lives to bring them to the True faith. From the love in our soul we should pray for all, even those who hate us. God rewards us by His grace. He sees everything, everyone and everything is His creation.

  • dhatzinik, Ecumenism states that Orthodoxy is not the totality of Christianity; that's why Ecumenism is Satanic. Both God's uncreated (external and internal) energies are ever-present, but the latter, through which we achieve our goal in this life (Theosis) is only accessible through Baptism in the Orthodox Church. Thus, on this earth, non-Orthodox are cut off from the glory of God.

  • In America where I live we have many religions. We also, unfortunately, have people who join cults.. JW's..LDS..etc. These are the people we here should be worried most with...they steal people of weak faith away. It is important to remember that we as the Church pray for the salvation of everyone. As an Orthodox Christian I can tell you there are many faithful Catholics. We can't worry ourselves as to whether Mother Theresa is saved or not... that is ultimately in God's hands. Kat'oikonomeia.

  • And what are we as Orthodox to do? Hate the Pope..hate Catholics..hate everyone? It is a positive step at least to be fellow brothers and sisters to one another. We pray for the whole world, for its salvation while at the same time defend the faith.

  • good very very good my dear friend. I am a Catholic. May God bless you for you wide vision.

  • There is ONLY ONE Christ and HE showed those who later followed him a way of life. The weak nature of some people and the 'greed' for power have misinterpreted HIS teachings and brought changes. As we are dealing with human beings taking decisions and none of them is infalible, let us forget so called 'differences' and learn how to accept each other!

  • Distortion of Jesus´s Teachings is Heresy, which is a blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

As such, it cannot be accepted. All we have to do is follow humbly the Holy Tradition, as expressed in the decisions of the Ecumenical and Local Councils, as well as the teachings of the Church Fathers, who interpreted everything for us.

  • ΑΓΑΠΑΤΕ ΑΛΛΗΛΟΥΣ all people are children of God! Don't make God a science or literature! He is so great to know him by books:)

  • Yes, Hagia Sophia belongs to the Christians.

Even the Blue Mosque looks like Hagia Sophia.

Been there, practicing Orthodox Christian, (although I struggle with sin).

    Try to be unmoved.

Life is a struggle. Personified here in this chant.

  • "The Orthodox Church is evangelical, but not Protestant. It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman. It isn't non-denominational - it is pre-denominational. It has believed, taught, preserved, defended and died for the Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost 2000 years ago." Anon. .
