  • a hospital near me which I am not employed is firing their nurses why? nurses cost more than any other employee in the hospital. With the economic problem, even nurses are feeling the shortage problem. Degree people are homeless.

  • Just don't choose any job for now (meaning electronics co,or any big manufacturing job,)then once you get back on your feet, then slowly find a job related to your field.now this days is not the same like it used to be its very difficult to find a job now days, just take 1 step at the time.good luck.

  • You could always go home.

  • age discrimination

  • okay im from vancouver and im currently in school to get my diploma for hotel & restaurant management...and i really want to move to london to work when i graduate (or at least work in vancouver for a year or so to at least get some experience and save money) but now im SCARED to go! i mean she seems like a very intelligent and educated, and experienced women...and shes homeless? luckily i do have 1 friend living there...but im terrified...REALLY terrified

  • @mylifemyrants there are lots of people moving to London each year who actually do get a job and don't live on the streets.there are lots of homeless people in London and other big cities.I think she's been really unfortunate. It's not easy but if you are well perpared, have worked up some good relyable contacts, saved enough money to keep you with food and things you need for some time and start searching for jobs ,all this BEFORE you go there i think it should be easier.Don't be alarmed just yet.

  • at 0.58, there are people robben ur stuff

  • @thegreathorseman can i stay over your houSE aswell?

  • Nancy you can come to the US and stay with me until you find work. I really mean that. You appear to be an honest hard working person. I don't know anyone that wants to work that can't fins a job, but a person has to stay presentable, and clean. I was hoeless once and it was terrible. Couldn't hardly face people, people would treat you like the plague. Nancy if you could make it to Arizona, Tempe, I would help you find a place to live or whatever you would need to do to get off the street

  • give her enough ice to build an igloo and she'll be happy.....

  • @Andreas748 How ignorant are you?????

  • Poor planning! Or a total lie. This is a set up for homeless funding.

  • Bull sit shes an actres fuckin daftys shes jstwantun hits well u dirty bitch her goes puncj y arocket

  • @Hotlipzism What a prat you are!!!

  • Bull sit shes an actres fuckin daftys

  • It seems to me, someone back home in Canada could have paid for a ticket to get her home? No family? No friends? This was four years ago. I wonder what happened.

  • go to a care home and apply as a carer....the manager will take notice of you that you are a RN, but as for the meantine while still waiting for a nurse position, the care home will automatically help you out.

  • i guess this girl needs to become a good actor ,very quick ,and act the alco ,to get considered ,i wish her all the best:)

  • Well thats just what you get for being Canadian

  • @DetrivoreDesires fuck u american bastard......go die u fcking jerk.....ignorant creep.....

  • @kunvar25 Well thats odd

I thought you limies were suposed to be better with the English vocabulary

and here you are insulting me when you cant spell "fucking", "you", and you forgot to put a capital "A" on "America".

Your a discrace to your own people. The day an American can give a grammar lesson to a limie is a sad day.

    A sad day indeed.

  • @DetrivoreDesires Americans are the most hated people in the world and it is fairly evident from your reply.....u MFK American white trash.......

  • @kunvar25 rofl white trash? Now then child, tell me the original meaning of the term "white trash"? You can't because the only insults someone of your class knows are things they see on TV.

Go back to spelling "Fail" as "Fial" and claiming that the Native Americans are really the lost tribe of Isreal.

If your going to leave a comment make it either...

    A. Funny

    B. Relevent

    C. Smart

If you choose not to do this thats okay too I just thought Id let you know that morons arnt cool any more.

  • @DetrivoreDesires .cant=can,t discgrace=disgrace limie=limy your=you,re..as in you are!! regards the fcking ..it was obviously written like that because some people avoid spelling it in case of being censored....america stays without the capitals because we hate you..now jog on and fuk off!!! or fuck off!!

  • @kunvar25 Why in fact do you hate America? Is it because we've become better off than the country you are from? Are you jealous of all of our opportunities, our democracy? I would like to know an educational reason on why you dislike Americans, and please use proper English. If you are English from Europe countries and you cannot use correct grammar, that is sad. You need to learn how to use English if you ever want to be heard right.

  • @DEUHDCEwh how can u presume u American scums r better off than us......u jerks cant speak1 language properly while I can speak 6 languages fluently...obviously u r an American who knows nothing about other nations....mfk American white pothead....

  • @kunvar25 How can YOU presume that I only speak one language, and how is that relevant to what I was originally asking? You claim to know six language fluently, yet you still lack to use PROPER English. You are trying to prove your point that Americans aren't living up to the standards that where ever you are from are, but you still use ignorant words such as "jerk, and scum" I still don't know where you are from, so I can't compare my country with yours. Educate me about your homeland.

  • how come she doesn't have any relatives in Canada who would bring her home?

  • It`s crazy to think that to be somebody you have to have a home. No home = No Identity just one of the same of many Homeless people that society doesn`t care about...Very sad..!

  • @Igotbadjoints Don't fall for that it's obviously a set up.

  • @dentgregg I have a friend who is almost identical to this lady...he is deemed "well" enough to cope with street life and therefore is not high on the list for help. He doesn't drink, smoke or take drugs...so don't judge what you don't know anything about!!!

  • @somecan If she's a British, why would she live on the street? Doesn't the British gov give its citizens free home, free medical care, free money? This woman just wants to live on begging. I can't see she has one arm, or one leg, she can work and make money this fat lazy stupid. If she can't do anything from what I suggest, she's just useless and we have to help her to go back her stupid country

  • I've been homeless. Looking back to that time I realise how vulnerable I was.

  • @LeftWingJohn so scary

  • This is not about countries or cultures. It is about the limits of the human psyche against varied systems that care nothing about the health or well being the down trodden memebers of whatever society and system you are in.

People that are doing o.k. can be real self-righteous....that is another layer of cruelty that people on the streets feel. It hurts them; mentally ill or not.

  • Go to your canadian embassy and go home idiot

It Is very difficult to someone who has left his one´s own country for resettle in another one. Especially to the people who has no connection with someone on the ground. I can advise you to take back home, because your life is in danger now. It is painful if you don´t know how to start with a new life in the new country, unless you have somebody to help you. Everyone who will meet you on the streets will automaticly consider you as an addict or alcoholic.

  • I think she should go back to her home town and land to get a job then maybe she can save up and move back the the UK again and get a job. If i was her I would try do anything to get some money. and go to people´s house to get a bath and ask if i could wash my clothwa and look for a job.

  • I´m sure that if she really wants to find a job she will be able to get some help from a organization. But I do not know all the facts so perhaps she already done that withaut any result

  • i think she should go back to Canada again to sort out her life and like the tohere peopler are saying that canada is very sort of nurses. She can propble get a job and saver her money so she could move back to the uk again. it just about getting her finger out of her arse and getting a move on, im sure that if she wanted to do it then she could get all the help she needed from the stat.

  • She lives in a vicious circle in which she can not get out of. To get away from the street you must work hard every day to find a place to stay. show you can not make yourself visible and do not ask for help, no one will see you or help you.

so you ge reasons so many stories. clear it and some do not know what more can I say

  • I do not understand why you moved and why you're not prepared you better for having to move, why not save you money up to at least the ticket back home, you are seated in this sitiuation. I have no pity on you and if you really want off the streets, then you must sell your body and save up for a flight home, I beg you, you destroy the image of London's streets.

  • Why do not you just work on another Hopital. You say yourself that there is a lot of work for you as a nurse. And there is surely more than a hospital in London. If it were me I would search all the places people have no workers, just to get some money in your pocket.

    by Stine from Denmark

  • I trust the people in here saying it's easy to fall through the cracks. But honestly, who leaves to a new country without any kind of saveings or backup plan ? In short I see her situation as selfinflicted, do to extreamly bad planning. I would bring enough money for the first 2 months rent and food, and with her first (and only) months pay, she has an extra month to find a new job and still have a place to live ect. Best wishes for her, no one should live on the streets, unless they want to.

  • I don't know if i feel sorry about Shelly, i don't know if she is talking the truth because it sounds strange that she lost her job so quikly. So maybe some of you are right when you say that it's her own fault. I alsop think she is lying when she says that she's not an Addict.

  • A person in America who is a drug abuser or drunk can get free public housing and free medical. A straight person who falls through the cracks can't get the equal assistance to get their life back on track.

  • If the economy were not so bad, there would be better public assistance funding to help her get back on track. It's sad that skilled people such as her can't get a little help. All she needs is a roof over her head, and a place to groom herself and access to a phone and computer so she can do job seeking. God bless this woman and help her get back on her feet.

  • Hey Shelly, if you were in America, I might let you stay in my spare room while you got on your feet. I admire you for speaking out publicly. Hang in there lady, keep talking with and leaning on God, alot, and you will be blessed. He will help you find your way.

  • She was a working tax payer who moved to London and ended up losing her job. Many people get fired through no fault of their own. Many people who still have jobs should be the ones terminated. She's a straight person who was trying. Things happen in peoples lives, they fall through the cracks and it's a struggle to get back up. If I didn't own a home I'd be in her shoes because of the economy. Alot of people had it on the ball are homeless because of the economy. Don't judge her unfairly.

  • She WAS a taxpayer you stupid prick. She was fired for some (probably) bullshit reason and she lost her home, you try living on the street and paying taxes. You'd be dead within a week.

  • Is she that desperate to stay in UK. If i was her, i would move back to Canada, get my life sorted and then move back if i wanted to. Not just continue living on the streets.

  • Move back to Canada, I don't understand her.

  • How can somebody move across seas when they can't even afford a shower?

  • No, no, no. It is her own fault that she is homeless. Honestly, we are so short of nurses here in Canada. With her training and her capacity for work she would easily get a loan to either get back here or get herself established there. This is absurd. At her age she could surely figure this out for herself... there must be some underlying issues- or utter stupidity.

  • Nancy, we have nursing shortages in America. There are also nurses who can't get jobs because of the economy. It's not her fault she's homeless. Alot of foreign nurses are being trained here for free who can barely speak English and thus not practice safe nursing. Yet we have many native Americans who can't get into nursing programs because of the waiting list. They also can't get a job because there are not enough to go around. They alse fire people for BS reasons because of the economy.

  • @ANGELBLU2042 Well, if she is homeless...........erm, who is at fault then. She is an adult, it would be smart for her to learn from this little bump in the road. Yeah, try saving up a 6 month emergency fund for starters.

  • For those who think it's 'odd' that his woman is homeless or that it would never happen to them - life can change for any of us in a very short period of time. This woman came to Britain with the best of intentions and fell through the cracks. Accomodation is expensive in Britain and ones savings can be very quickly depleated. I've been there myself. As well, if you don't qualify for benifits or council accomodation (ie: not British/assylum seeker) you can find yourself in this woman's situation

  • It's hard to have much faith in society when I read some of the comments people have made here. Open your eyes. This could happen to you. This could happen to any of us.

  • I find it very hard to believe that she can't get a job. AFAIK, the UK is pretty short on nurses and are often taking on nurses from other countries.

She said she was a nurse manager too... surely she can get a job here???

  • How Zildjian ? when you don't have an address you can't get a job.Unless this lady gets into accommodation she hasn't much hope.Even if she were to get into a hostel theres still the whole homeless stigma attatched to those places so many people wouldn't employ her. This is a fact. Many think predjuduces don't exist anymore in the uk but they do,if you ever find yourself in that situation you'll realise how hard it is to get back up.

  • wtf canada is much better than United kingdom

    This woman is crazy

  • HELLO STUPID BIATCH!

  • The amount of nasty comments is unbelievable......it is very sad.....what happened to compassion?

  • This looks suspicious. What kind of person move to other country without any money to support herself?

  • I'm sure that she had enough money to support herself when she arrived in Britain. Ever lived in Britain? Cost of living - food/shelter/etc - is very expensive compared to N. America. If you are non-British nor an asylum seeker, you have no access to social houing. As well, foreigners have no access to state benefits. If you're unemployed your money can run out VERY quickly. It's so very easy for foreigners to become homelss. I've seen many on the streets of London.

  • I WOULD FUCK THAT WHORE

  • fuck u all COCKLOVING CUNTS

  • I work in the homeless sector but the people I feel most sorry for are the people who've posted below. I'd rather be on the street than as lost as they are.

  • she was probably not very good at her job. She lost her job cause she is useless, she needs to be deported home we have enough of our own problems to start taking on the world. For her to have come here they should have made sure she had sponsors and adequate funds to support herself for 2 years as we would be if we go to the US or Canada. Why should she have disability she has not paid into our system, we cant take on the world and his wife - go home!!!!

  • i don't understand this.... why doesn't she call someone in canada to help her out? is she on her own in this world? she's been working for 25 years, there must be someone that she knows!

  • Shite happens. Maybe it's a mid-live crisis, a divorce or whatever. Each of us has his/her own story.

  • Call a US/Canadian hospital and they will transport you.

  • stupid women she should have had more sense than too just move to London without preparing herself 1st no wonder she ended up on the streets

  • maybe this is a good thing for her....looks like she could do with loseing a few pounds nyway...and if she was a bit skinnier and better looking she could go on the game..OR GO BACK TO CANNADA ... OR WHAT EVER BUT STOP COMING OVER HERE UNPREPAIRED.

  • This country has turned me into a ghost who cares for nothing.

  • best wishes to you. People do not understand that without the basics you are stuck and can't get out of the rut.

  • y the fuck would you want to move to england its a fukin shit hole lmaoo i know cus i live in yorkshire! init mann!

  • calibrit, exactly what life experience have you had dear. Please dont say working abroad for 5 years.

  • When she came she had a job but lost her job...being from Canada of course it's difficult to acclimatise to different social system...no job - no money - no real friends here...and she is half british/half canadian - just wasn't getting the help she needed when she needed it...I'm sure we've all been in that position no?

  • Nope.

  • Been there, mate. It is SO easy to fall through the cracks. If you are non-British or not an assylum seeker OR considered to be 'voluntarily homeless', you can't get housing assistance. Life is very expensive in London. Money runs out so quckly once unemployed (again, can't get benefits if not British). It's so easy to end up on the streets - can't get a job, too poor to even go home. Thankfully I had help from friends. Many know no one and end up cold and alone on the mean streets fo London.

  • @davidbarker1971 wow this is scary bc me and my sis are planning to move there and my sister is a nurse

  • What is a highly educated Canadian nurse living on the streets of London? There is no reason for this. London is a city with good opportunities it just sounds as though she WANTS to be homeless. Mentaly week.

  • oh purlease! She turned up in a strange country, with no job, nowhere to live, and not even a basic understanding of the industry she hoped to work in. Then she finds the streets of London are NOT paved with gold. Let's hope the Canadian Embassy can get her home, because the last thing Britian needs is a loser like her!

  • You, dear heart are a tool.

She did have a job. There were differences in health care systems that can often account for people not coping well with new jobs. I found this out since I moved to Australia. Looking at this lady, she is older and was a manager. She probably thought she could manage and become established.

You either adapt or fail, and you have to do it very quickly or you get spat out.

I sincerely hope you never have to work abroad with such a closed mind.

    Hugs.

  • No you're the tool. Read my screen name CaliBrit, California Britain geddit? I live and work abroad, have done for 5 years.

Now dear, I suggest you go back to doing what it is your oh so eloquent screen name says.

    No hugs, kiddo.

  • And that makes you an authority on the transition between healthcare systems?

Maybe I should have read your vapid profile, just as you should have listened to what the lady was saying.

And I would say that if she had got the the level of nurse manager she probably had an understanding of her industry which is to care for those in need...something the british social system has little understanding of.

Hugs wether you want them or not

  • Hey kiddo, I see you are having a problem understanding the British social care system. Try coming over here and experiencing the 'social care' you'd soon go scampering back to the UK overflowing with gratitude. Not claiming to be an authority, just far more experienced than you had assumed.

Now hurry up or you'll be late for school

  • You are well tuned for californian life patronising aloof all qualities they require stay where you are kiddo

  • Got to love the screen names of people on here insulting my intelligence. Now, now children, come back when you've had a bit of life experience. You know, the sort that enables you to sift out the losers. (Don't fall through the cracks yourself while you're doing it).

  • so you see yourself as superior to her? perhaps she's an inferior race? do you have blue eyes and blond hair?

  • There are many agencies in London to work as a homecare nurse. I did it as a nursing student and it paid $1000/wk Canadian. This was way more than I could have made in Canada and I didn't have to pay for living expenses while being a live-in carer. It is very unfortunate that this woman found herself in this position, but I do question the resources she has checked out.

  • You're right. There are a lot of employment agencies where she could get "survival jobs" until she can affort a flat or a bed sit. It is costly to go to an estate agent. Most are scam artists that prey upon foreigners. I guess that she's in a catch-22 situation - can't get work without clean cloths and a shower, but can't get her clothes cleaned and take a shower without accomodation. I've met foreigners who just fall through the cracks and can neither go home nor find a home in the UK.

  • Canada is such a lovely country. What is she still doing here?

  • She should go to the Canadian embassy, maybe they can help!

  • what the hell is the Canadian goverment doing about this, this is unappectable, a canadian in middle of a country that is shit!!!! on my god
