maybe you should know that Arusha Town does not exist for your enjoyment. there are a lot of amazing people and shops and places that you drove past. I spent almost 5 months in Arusha fall of '07- my phone was stolen, 2 of my friends were mugged at knifepoint, and i was harassed a few times. but over time my shoes fell apart, i wore my bag on my back, not clutching it in front, and i greeted people who looked my way and i was not harassed. go again and live like an Arushan. you'll love it there!

I was there for 3 month in 1998. I nver had really serious problems there. I worked there and was therefore not looking like a tourist, however.
Maybe it changed.
Anyway, great time, a lot of fun.
