  • I was thinking the same thing as everyone below me, this would never be allowed by american insurers or lawyers :( all it would take is one dumb teenager to unbuckle his seatbelt and fall out to ruin it for everyone.

  • Well, we'll never see this cool ride in the Untied States. (Right... we're free)....

  • This looks like SOOOO much fun!!! I wish we had something like this here!!

  • cool

  • Somehow I imagine if the the first person of the ride hit the brake to a stop while on a deep slope, then came few people from behind, I feel like final destination...

  • 降りたコースターは、どうやって又上まであげるのだろうか??

    でも楽しそうだな(^0^)/

    おいらもスベリたいよぉ~~~~~~~~~ッ!!

    by:おっさん From Tokyo Japan

  • I'm surprised someone hasn't been seriously injured or killed on this ride.

    Looks cool though.

  • fantastic!

  • I just want to ask, do you know how the sleds are returned to the top?

  • @GunsOfThePhoenix - They are returned via the same cable car system that takes passengers to the top of the mountain.

  • has anyone ever hit someone else?

  • @kfea82 - almost certainly...the braking of the sleds is entirely down to the rider acting sensibly and being aware of other riders ahead of them. There might be minor shunts on these things, but in mainland Europe people wouldn't be trying to sue someone for it...which is why these rides still exist without over-the-top health & safety rules.

  • @davidjellis Yea, this is why America can suck sometimes. Other main reason being SOPA, which if passed, would be unconstitutional in so many ways it would almost certainly cause mass riots

  • I wouldn't want anybody too close behind me lol .. its a surprise they are not crashing into each other ..

  • @davidjellis whats the lever looking thing between the riders legs?

  • @badmonk3829 - that is the brake lever...you push the lever away from you to deactivate them, pull it towards you to apply the brakes (which you obviously need to do at the end of the track).

  • @davidjellis so what part about the ride has no brakes because it says "Now...who is feeling scared to ride with no brakes??" but it has a brake lever. Anyways looks fun, would like to have one built by my house :)

  • @badmonk3829 - To clarify, when I said I rode it with no brakes, I meant that I didn't use them. Nobody would design a ride that went down a mountainside that didn't have any brakes fitted...whether you use the brakes, well that's down to the rider.

  • thats gotta be a shit ton of fun

  • This looks absolutely wonderfull and your no brakes video looks genuinely scary and fun at the same time. how fast can those cars go?

  • @rehnai - although the on-ride video looks like you are doing 50mph+, the top speed is around 27mph (42kph) - it just feels a lot faster, and with those drops and turns even a speed like that is very scary.

  • @davidjellis thanks, 42 km/h is quite fast but it's much safer than I imagined. maybe that's why they don't give you helmets.

  • Looks like so much fun! The thing I'm really curious about is how they get the cars back to the top again?! Do they take them off the track and put them on the chair lift?!

  • @thecatman2000 - they are taken back up in the cablecars and loaded back on at the top.

  • There are seatbelts, right? xD

  • @Tatsumase - Yes...and you need them! Thanks for watching and share it with your friends.

  • this looks awesome

  • "Good grief there's loads of em!"

  • I assume this is a permanent installation? How do they keep skiers away from it in winter? I'd sure hate to have my skis run under that track at speed. I'd also hate to be taking a ride down it behind some sissy riding the brake.

  • @davidqxo - to be honest I have no idea if they take it down in the winter, although I assume it is permanent. I believe skiiers use other slopes on the same mountain. Yes, you can get behind sissies using the brakes too much...no refunds. I was lucky I had a clear run.

  • !!!!!!!

  • theyd need to be MUCH wider carts in the states

  • who brought me here

  • That looks like SO much fun!!

  • Yea that looks..................fun as hell!

  • I want to drive the "Mud" snow cat that takes the cars back to the top of the mountain.

  • @ARealWiseGuys;

In my language we call them "slope cat" or "slope treader" :)

They work as uphill climbers in the summertime and skiing slope treaders in winter.

  • They all look like their having a blast, I wanna have a blast... :(

  • where is this?

  • love it

  • is there one of these in the us? id love to ride one but they are so far away

  • It looked cooler in the on-ride video

  • you gatta be a grinch to dislike this.

  • I am going to try this without using the brake lever. Hopefully I can get on first when it's open

  • @ImEverythingYouCrave - I suggest doing as I did...ride it once with brakes first...just in case. Although you can look at the video and say "hell yeah, I can do that"...it's a lot more scary in real life!

  • فللة في بطنك يا المهنا

  • Brilliant :D

  • LOOKS LIKE FUN

  • This is kewl!!!

  • Is their anything to stop the person behind just smashing into the one in front if they are going to slow? Does every one go down at the slowest persons speed?

  • @jleyd - if there are slow people in front you have to use the brake lever...not to do so would be very unwise...so yes, the speed of the slowest on the track will dictate the speed...fortunately I got a clear run on this go!

  • alpine coaster (imst-austria) is better

  • @brecht181 - you can see that one on my channel too...it is longer, sure, but I think the Mieders one is more scary as it is steeper and the cars and track feel more exposed.

  • @davidjellis imst one is cheaper too, 5 euros :D did it 2 times

  • That seems so akward. Imagine a 300 pound person trying to buy entry on one of these and upon refusal he will sue for weight discrimination. Lol.

  • @houdsfishing it would be awkward, but then theres the whole foreign country thing. it would depend if he/they were a tourist or a local. they're attitude could change everything too. =P

  • what's so special? I^ve been on some things at least 5 times..

  • @affekongos - in what context are you asking the question?

  • @affekongos Good point, obviously anything you've had the least truck with could be of no possible interest.

  • You could pretend you're on a starwars speeder bike.

  • I was waiting for someone to fall off !!!

  • In the USA, if someone got hurt, the lawyers would group together like sharks and sue the owners so that NO ONE would be allowed to have fun.

    TORT REFORM NOW!!!!!!

  • @HVYMETL These Alpine coasters exist in at least 3 places in Colorado: Winter Park, Breckenridge and in Glenwood Springs (I have done all three). Participating is at your own risk, just like snow skiing.

  • @HVYMETL In hungary if you get hurt nobody cares. You learn your mistakes, everybody laugh or stare at you and thats it. Somebody have to die to close the thing. No lawsuit, nobody have that much money and time for lawyers (min. 3 years to settle a dispute).

  • that is awesome

  • looks like fun

  • How much does this cost?

  • @bopjick3233 - I believe the current price was €11 (approx $15)...well worth it (providing you don't get someone really slow in front of you)...but hey, you get a cablecar ride to the top and views of the most awesome scenery!

  • @davidjellis Ha yeah this one shows that it must get really annoying when that happens

  • They should do another rail side by side and race

  • Hopefully they don't modify the carriages to prevent excessive speeding because this went straight to the top of my bucket list! Well done!

  • @MrMartincevic - the cars cannot exceed the design speed of 42 kph as they have built-in trim brakes that stop the cars accelerating up to unsafe speeds...not using the manual brakes is safe, just very daring. I would not recommend filming like it did though...I am very experienced at filming on roller coasters so am used to it...I suggest strongly that people who ride this should make sure they are holding on!

  • Hmmmm

  • I want one of these! Thanks for sharing, that looks like so much fun.

  • Its a TRAIN!

  • awesome

  • are there any chance to fall off when riding on it?? wanna try some=)

  • @petzifly - I guess if you are not wearing the seatbelt then you could fall off...the seatbelt holds you securely, but I wouldn't try this like I did...especially trying to film it. I am experienced at on-ride filming so I know what I am doing...in any case, if you want to do it without using the brakes I suggest you do as I did and ride it "normally" first...just to make sure. Please don't think anyone can do this....but it should be safe if you are careful. Hope that helps.

  • これは絶対おもしろい!!!ぜひ日本にも作ってほっしいいいいい!!!

  • We need one of these in South Carolina USA.Dead simple and super fun.Doesn't look like it would cost much to install or maintain.I really enjoy the terrain and siting of this coaster.Beautiful.

  • I have to add this to my checklist what to do before death.

  • vart ligger denna bana,... MÅSTE ÅKA DEN!!!!!!

  • @whythat0 var*

  • there's so many of them, i probably would have been shouting at the old woman in front of me to get a move on, just like in normal traffic :P

  • think I'd rather fall off than to be caught on the seatbelt and dragged down the hill by it.

  • do they have website or something? I can't find info on internet :(

  • @KachZz - w w w.serlesbahnen.at/

  • MARIO KART IRL!!!

  • do a touge on this aha

  • *Slams brakes and causes a 5 person pile-up*

  • I just want to know how they get the cars back to the top!

  • looks fun + dangerous

    sign me up

  • how do they get the cars back up to the start?

  • @MackB55 Europe. Who knows.....

  • It's like the Alpine Slide =D

  • How much did you have to pay to ride?

  • there is something like this in America near Mount Rushmore. it is fun. although this looks more fun.

  • lol kid with the red sweater is so happy until he notices the camera

  • That looks SO fun!

  • wat if u fall off the car thing lol

  • This looks awesome! I would love to do this. I want to go to Austria anyway, what beautiful scenery. Thanks for the vid.

  • LIVELAVAAAALIVE

  • What if someone at the front is scary and applies brake at the time?.....just fuck your ride as you have to follow him slowly!

  • @taxiwarrior

Well the original video said there was no brakes on this ride. The handle is for holding on tight I'm guessing. You think that's scary? What if there was someone 300 pounds behind you? THAT would be scary!

  • @Devilishlybenevolent if you read more closely, he said he didn't use the brakes on his recorded run, not that there wasn't a brake lever.

  • Awesome! I want this!

  • does it hurt your bum?

  • OMG How FUN!

  • is there seat belts?

  • And it will take one fat American to break it and sue.

  • @dasheekee As a trim American....I would agree with your sentiment!!

  • The is the most fucking stupidly amazing idea in the world :D

  • i want to go down it laying on my back, head first, at night, with zombies =D

  • So I wonder who and how frequently someone is inspecting all of that track lol wow. Good thing you don't have to put your feet out on the ground to slow down

  • So I wonder who and how frequently someone is inspecting all of that track lol wow

  • FLABBER

  • I love it. I hope they make a lay down, superman style seat soon

  • Do you get safetybelts or anything?

  • @kerelberel - you get a standard seatbelt which goes across your waist...that's all.

  • What Manufacturer makes this version?

  • awesome design, the ones I've ridden in Oregon and Wyoming have little concrete bobsleigh like tracks

  • Should't have brakes so slow people can't ruin it for everyone else.

  • "You must NOT be this FAT to ride this ride."

  • This is amazing. Austrians must be pretty smart people because this thing would not fly here in America. There'de be lawsuits galore!

  • the riders are so close together... wonder how bad the crashes are

  • great video. i would be pumped to do something like that

  • @ 1:27 OMG that tunnel changed that woman´s sex.

  • @CrissBlackHawk well spotted! hilarious!

  • @CrissBlackHawk

    PMSL

  • imo - Best way to commute into town. That would solve the traffic issues (without brakes)

  • This is awesome! I badly want to ride this! Looks like real fun!

  • hahaha i need to ride this

  • US Roller Coaster guidlines suck now

  • Holy..wow. Those don't look safe...but they do look AWESOME.

    I want to ride!! :P

  • This looks amazing!! Does anyone know if there is a similar ride here in the United States?

  • Are you still in Austria? Are you here on vacation sir? :)

  • @WWF4everRocks - sadly I would love to be riding this now...but the video was recorded back in 2005. It's a lovely country!

  • @davidjellis in 05!? wow, and i thought this was something new that was going to take over the world lol

  • great video man.

  • They write somewhere there is a 25mph limiting brake in the system and your manual brake. What is the feeling, are there more than 25mph?

  • @gnanet - the car design has an built-in limiter that is supposed to keep you to a max speed of 25mph, but at times it felt like the trims didn't kick in and I was going nearer 30mph. It always felt fast though, and some of those bits were STEEP !!

  • How the hell does this thing stay upright with just a pipe in the middle?

  • @Anvilshock It's not a pipe, it's a rail

  • dear santa

  • I want to see a real FAT person in it please! :)

  • how tall are you? it looks cramped, but i wanna try =]

  • How long did your "no brakes" run take from start to finish? And how much does it cost per run? Good videos!

  • @frohoss - you can see how long from start to finish, as it's the length of the video ;-)

Can't recall how much it was - I rode it 6 years ago...I believe it was around €6 ($9)

  • Which country is this???

  • @FAR6A6OU Austria

  • @kingnapsta Thank you

  • Awesome, but how do they get all the cars back to the top?

  • @beggersrun That's what I want to know too.

  • @beggersrun I expect that they hang them on the outside of the up-going cable cars or something - That's how skis and bicycles are usually transported to the top.

  • @beggersrun Aliens

  • @beggersrun

I think latest cart has gas motor. After all carts finish just connect all carts like a train and it drive up.

  • are there seatbelts?

  • do you know if they remove the track during ski season? or is it left there all year long? I would LOVE to ride this during the winter at night!

  • god, this must suck to get behind a slow person! do you get your money back if someone else ruined your go?

  • @WiLLGT09 Read... there are no brakes.

  • @kplayaja actually, I believe there is a break - the handle between his legs - he just chose not to engage the break for the entire ride.

  • @WiLLGT09 put the biggest dude first he'll go downhill in a speedlight

  • Comment removed

  • could you crash into someone?

  • @DARKTURTLE06 - Yes! It's down to each rider to use their brakes if and when needed. Fortunately when I did my "no brakes" run there was a lot of clear space in front of me...all depends who you get in front of you. I just got lucky!

  • @davidjellis ohh but that sucks!!! there should be a certain period of time between each ride hehe

  • @davidjellis

Why the hell did they put brakes in this? ;)
