Just bought the new album, I've been a fan since the release of images and words. And i'm sorry to have to say this, apart from the first song, the rest of the music on the album is pretty tuneless!!!! (brilliant musicianship of course as always) but they are clearly over complicating their music, and its all getting lost! the magic that was once was there this is no longer there!!!!!!! And it kills me to say that, cos i have loved this band for 20 years! But this album won't stop being a fan!

It's top 5 and above in almost all countries, and #1 in Norway, Italy, Finland, and Sweden. and you're right Mangini is no where close to Portnoy, he's actually on another level above and beyond him in terms of technicality and humility. definitely world class

@Marco262a Soundscan numbers are showing that it is keeping up with images and words. You do know about pre-sales. They sold quite a bit of albums already because of the drama of Portnoy leaving the band. As far as i am concerned Portnoy turned his back on the fans when he selfishly left all of us and Dream Theater dead in the water. And Mangini--no matter what you think--is just as good as Portnoy for showing the reasons they don't need Portnoy. I love the album.
