  • "The Wall Street Joynal"

  • I don't see AKB making it in the US to be honest. They don't write their own music. They don't make up their own dance moves. Their manager writes all the lyrics they sing. They have pretty much zero input into the music they release. Basically they are just a big karaoke group & advertising machine that was hand picked from thousands. Im not hating on them or anything but they are Idols, not musicians.

  • @dre3k78 American music can be just about the same. You could be very naive to think everyone in America write their own music. Songs are very actively commerces traded sometimes infringed and had producers dictating every aspects of their music. Just name one American artist whom you think write their own music. I'll prove you wrong.

  • @dokkiro I could name several but you prob have never heard of them. I mostly listen to music i grew up on in the 90s...rock/grunge/rap and some 60-70s classic rock. Im not bagging on Japanese music or Japan in general. Dont get me wrong...im just referring to AKB. Also, you are correct about musicians in the US having lyrics written for them etc..this mostly occurs in pop music which is pretty much the lowest form of music imo.

  • @dre3k78 I know some of my friends sold their song for only 4000$ and they pretty much sold all their rights to the song including any claims of credit. Which means they can say they wrote the song. And it was in the 90s. The music business haven't been changed since the beginnings. I wouldn't doubt Mozart sampled bits of his music from other unknown gypsy artists.

  • @dre3k78 You should look into wikipedia article on AKB48. This is a frenchies selling little girls dream of stardom. In order them to break into American market they would have to start an entirely new group(s) in US consists of American members. Is it possible I say yes. Search also SNSD. AKB48 could be very threatened by this Kpop group already breaking into US. Kpop attempts of breaking into US market failed in the recent past so far. SNSD and 2NE1 both have strong potentials.

  • @dokkiro Id say SNSD has a better chance of doing well in the US then AKB. They appeal more to mature audiences as well as young people. As for an American AKB group being formed....it would have to be much smaller then the Japanese version and cater to a more mature audience i think. 2 different cultures with different tastes in entertainment. But in today's music scene anything is possible i suppose seeing what passes as music these days.

  • @dre3k78 You should check my channel for Seo Taiji also. This guy seems like he just doesn't like much publicity at all specially in US. I have heard his music played on radios in US. Seo Taiji could be the most popular yet unknown artist in US. I believe he toured with Cyprus Hill in US. I'm just not a big fan of Kpop at all. Most reminds me of Menudo.

  • @dzunku1 I just googled Japanese plagiarism and I'm just simply lost for words. Japan is the Nation of Plagiarism and I believe you're just using few debatable examples of Korean individuals as scapegoats. We are talking about reputable Japanese newspapers copying wikipedia articles to majority of Japanese students copying University thesis from Korea and elsewhere to get their degrees. Apparently it's much harder for Koreans to get away with it while it's very easy for Japanese.

  • @dokkiro Key Word: CCOK

"Copy and Claim its Origin by Koreans"

This reputation has become well established now to culture people in the world, helped by lunatic people like you. Sorry, you, and Koreans, already have lost credibility of any claim.

There is another well know reputation. If anyone does not agree on Korean's self-praising propaganda, they get into Hwabyeong instantly and becomes a stalker, which has been well displayed by your actions here and, I bet, will be continued….

  • @dzunku1 I'm sorry but you are like someone yelling don't watch this show in front of a sold out concert. LMAO

  • Korea Has Reputation for Plagiarism (from The Dong-A Ilbo part 4)

Koreans working abroad in the globalized world are getting bad reputation for plagiarism. Our recognition for plagiarism, however, is far from the global standards. This is not a problem of one individual. It is a social problem stemming from lack of anti-plagiarism education. Perpetrators are the victims nurtured in ‘the Republic of Plagiarism.’

  • @dzunku1 Go ahead and search AKB48 plagiarism right here on Youtube and watch the video and tell me I'm a liar after. Don't forget to read my comments on those videos.

  • @dzunku1 LMAO I just researched whole bunch of plagiarism allegations and seems like there isn't one American artist who were not accused of plagiarism. Hey did you know that Old testament is also being accused of plagiarism by a Japanese?

  • Korea Has Reputation for Plagiarism (from The Dong-A Ilbo part 3)

This is not an isolated case. A number of Koreans have gotten into trouble after plagiarizing while studying abroad. Some universities in advanced countries have a bad impression of Korean students, warning that reports written by Asian students should be double-checked.

  • Korea Has Reputation for Plagiarism (from The Dong-A Ilbo part 2)

His professor, however, pointed out the copied part and sent him to the school disciplinary committee. Indefinitely suspended from school, Kim could not even transfer to another university because his plagiarism was recorded in his student report. He wrote a letter for clemency, but the school has not moved an inch. Currently, he’s working at a Korean store, earning a little more than $1,000 a month.

  • Korea Has Reputation for Plagiarism (from The Dong-A Ilbo part 1)

Kim, a 22-year-old student, was admitted to Virginia State University in 2004 after coming to Virginia with his family when he was 16 years old. Last spring, he attended a chemistry class, planning to enter medical school after graduation. For an experimental report, he copied several sentences from a friend, thinking it was not a big deal.

  • Big Bang Leader Accused of Plagiarism (from The Korea Times part 3)

Internet users pointed out that G-Dragon's title track ``Heartbreaker'' sounded like American rapper Flo Rida's ``Right Round'' and ``Butterfly'' resembled ``She's Electric'' by British rock band Oasis.

  • Big Bang Leader Accused of Plagiarism (from The Korea Times part 2)

The 21-year-old's recently released first solo album brought a rush of excitement among K-pop fans, but the sentiment grew cold when some argued that his songs resembled many other famous numbers by American and English singers and groups.

  • Big Bang Leader Accused of Plagiarism (from The Korea Times part 1)

In line with the recent plagiarism rumors regarding songs written by G-Dragon, the leader of popular boy group Big Bang, local branches of music publishing companies have rolled up their sleeves to investigate the truth.

  • K-Pop taking over the world? Don't make me laugh (from CNN GO part3)

    Crash and burn

When BoA debuted in the U.S. several years ago, every major Korean news website claimed that she was spearheading the hallyu movement in the Western hemisphere, saying BoA might just as well stand for Bring On America.

Unfortunately, she didn’t Bring On America; she bombed instead, even though her American album “Eat You Up” was produced by Thomas Troelson and featured tracks by Bloodshy and Avant.

  • K-Pop taking over the world? Don't make me laugh (from CNN GO part2)

Don’t get me wrong. I agree that K-Pop is being listened to outside of Korea and that it has an international fan base, but the media’s coverage of hallyu and K-Pop feel-gooderies is ridiculously one-sided.

  • K-Pop taking over the world? Don't make me laugh (from CNN GO part1)

Having followed the Korean media for some time, I’m all too familiar with the unrestrained embellishment of hallyu.

Every time I read an article raving about how successful the Wonder Girls are in the States, or how Rain is a “world star,” I can’t help but cringe.

  • K-Pop's Plague of Plagiarism (from soompi part 5)

Still, the question of how credible K-pop is lingers on. What we do know is that most covers are legal and most sampling is netizen-spotted and goes unnoticed by the composers of the original songs.

How Lee Hyori’s camp will handle the recent plagiarism issues remains to be seen. But when the Queen of K-pop is in an earthquake of trouble the entire Korean pop industry feels the aftershocks.

  • K-Pop's Plague of Plagiarism (from soompi part 4)

Though it appears that K-pop is constantly hit with plagiarism charges, very few have actually seen legal action or recognition. Rhianna had been asked if she was aware of Girls’ Generation possibly sampling from her song “Shut Up & Drive” for their comeback track “Oh!” She stated she had never heard of the allegations and therefore had no comment on it.

  • K-Pop's Plague of Plagiarism (from soompi part 3)

Ynot will file a lawsuit for $44,000 against C.N.Blue’s songwriters for allegedly plagiarizing their song “Bluebird.” Netizens have made other speculations against KARA’s “Lupin” possibly sampling Jelena Karleusa’s “Insomnia” and 2PM’s “Again & Again” possibly sampling Envy’s “Shawty Dangerous.” However no comment has been made by representatives of any companies regarding the speculations.

  • K-Pop's Plague of Plagiarism (from soompi part 2)

Another cause for concern is sampling. G-Dragon was slammed with plagiarism accusations during promotion of his album Heartbreaker. His song “Heartbreaker” was said to sound too similar to Flo Rida‘s “Right Round.” YG remedied the sampling concerns by featuring Flo Rida on G-Dragon’s Shine A Light live album and G-Dragon escaped what could have been a costly lawsuit.

  • K-Pop's Plague of Plagiarism (from soompi part 1)

With Lee Hyori potentially facing multiple plagiarism charges, the questionable practice of plagiarism itself re-emerges. This is not the first time plagiarism and K-pop have found themselves together in the same sentence. Perhaps due to sharp-eyed netizens detecting the plagiarism so quickly, it would seem that kpop is losing credibility to its fans and other industry representatives.

  • @dokkiro @GMT4ful The very success of Kpop was owed to Korean ability to let foreign influence to develop our own cultures. Japan can also achieve the same goal by letting Kpop develop into Japanese pop culture. But there are these unreasonable objectives coming from ultra right wing groups within Japan. Only time will tell if they can do it.

  • @dokkiro K-POP is Plague of Plagiarism.

"The 21-year-old's recently released first solo album brought a rush of excitement among K-pop fans, but the sentiment grew cold when some argued that his songs resembled many other famous numbers by American and English singers and groups." (from The Korea Times)

It's not a matter of Right or Left. It's a matter of Right or Wrong. Successful thieves are still thieves, and you are proud of it. You are announcing to the world that you have no ethics.

  • @dzunku1 I don't listen to Kpop. Most Kpop reminds me of Puerto Rican boy band group called Menudo which Ricky Marten was a member of. I'm not even sure who you are talking about. I started to listen to Heavy metal music in the 80s and Japanese band Loudness quickly became my favorite. Loudness became too big of a success in America and American audiences were interested in more Japanese music. Now I'm not going to talk about how they lost American recording contract with CBS record.

  • @dzunku1 Besides you've mentioned one 21 years old musician from Korea who recently released a single and he lost his fan base after a newspaper article pointing out the similarity to American groups singing in English? Can you tell me who he is and what American group he was being accused of being similar? Even if you did prove that he tried to imitate American music. How the fuck do you justify your statement regards to the whole Kpop genre being plague of plagiarism?

  • @dokkiro @dzunku1 There is a huge hit song by Green days called "American idiot" and well it turns out that this song really was a copy of Korean song released 10 years previously. But who the fuck cares? Nobody is screaming "Hey they copied!" in Korea. All except few who thinks gratitude of them noticing of Korean music.

  • @dokkiro @dzunku1 And there was a hiphop song which became number 1 hit in Korea. I'm not a big fan of hiphop music so I cannot recall the name of the song but it goes something like "one for the money two for the show..." Everyone in Korea knew the Dr. Dre original and this song was actually helping his record sales in Korea. But Dr. Dre came after them successfully suing them. He single handedly killed the whole hiphop music scene in Korea and he ended up losing millions of $.

  • @dokkiro @dzunku1 Dr. Dre really fucked himself good. He was being a hypocrite because sampling in hiphop music scene is very common and without any samplings hiphop music genre wouldn't be where it is at now.

  • @dzunku1 <--- RIGHT WING JAPO AND HIS CRUZADE AGAINST STUPID KPOP!! lol

  • I can see AKB48 retail stores coming to as far as Hawaii but not in LA. AKB48 needs to translate their entire album collections re-release them in English. And they are very gimmicky. I have always thought that Kpop was gimmicky. AKB48 blows all of them away when it comes to looking gimmicky. AKB48 really is not a singing group but a frenchies selling little girls dreams of stardom.

  • I said typical, means that I'm not talking about your absurd story only. This applies to all sorts of cultural and historical things. You still being here is a proof of being a parasite to Japan.

Learn from the channel: Wondrous Japan Forever, and stay out.

Recommended video: Endangered Japan: A Small Survey on the Conflict between Japan and Korea

    Thank you.

  • @dzunku1 You sound like you own propagandabuster. How much did it cost? Survey saids you are unemployed hater who has too much free time and blames all your problems on Korea. Stupid backstabber. Fuck you and your hate propagandas.

  • @dokkiro You are demonstrating well known behavior of majority of Koreans. Bring up totally irrelevant subjects all of sudden and shower abuse on the opponents when they lose debates. This stage is called Hwabyung or 火病. Thank you for your demonstration.

  • @dzunku1 Well you are showing the typical right wing ultra nationalist anti korean Japanese behavior of missinformation for the benefit of right wingers like you.

  • @GMT4ful [[ F ]] You are Failed. Just labeling with no back up argument is not a debate. Stay away if you can't, please.

  • @dzunku1 You are descendant of war criminals.

  • @GMT4ful [[ F ]] Failed again. Can you do any better? You are so boring.

  • @dzunku1 Haters are haters. FE; Japanese hate mongers hate not only Koreans but Americans Chinese even Japanese liberals. They hate their neighbors dog and the neighbors tree cross the street. They hate the smiles of little kids and most of all their life. There are no love of anything for them. They are slaves of fears and hope of Japan except they don't work to create anything. They would work to destroy the hope creating more fears rather than easing fear to motivate hope.

  • @dokkiro Don't you know that you are proving yourself as a perfect example of a lunatic Korean who lies anything about everything without knowing anything about subjects, me in this case? Get lost before Tony gives you a shock treatment*. You have no idea how irrational you are. How pathetic….

*Korean Pizza video brings out the lunatics in Korea

  • @dzunku1 I'm not even a Korean. I'm American. My parents are Koreans. My favorite uncle happens to be half Japanese and a very famous one also. I doubt you know anything about me yet there you're assuming everything about me. You kind of remind me of a tiny little dog barking bravely in front of a big dog. LOL. Too funny.

  • @dzunku1 Lunatic? hmm... lying is human... open humans alive with no pain killers, is not human is lunatic... is Shiro Ishii.... is rapist war criminal Japo. :D

  • @dzunku1 Hey maybe you're little short on the English comprehensions. I meant ever more respectably and sincerely. Fuck your propaganda. All you're doing is embarrassing the whole Japanese nation. Your own media authorities labeled you people insane hate mongers. Good luck with your propagandas.

  • I do want to comment on one thing: As we know, Japan has an obsession with young cute girls. This has had a negative impact on their entertainment industry. What's happening is all these parents push their daughters into show business, despite usually having a lack of talent. Regardless, the Japanese eat it up, simply because of the cuteness factor.

AKB48 is one example. I mean seriously, a 92 member group? Come on. You can't have respect for individual talent when your group is 92 members.

  • @RelVleDy just a little bit to add to your comment: the creator of AKB's aim, as he said, was to produce girls who have no talent and let the audience watch the girls grow throughout the years and become more polished talent-wise. so there is that cute factor, but it's not just that. personally, I'm not a huge fan of AKB but when I watch AKB, I can't help cheering them on b/c they're trying so hard.

  • @RelVleDy This is a lot different from what you are thinking. You should look into AKB48 in detail. It requires a great talent to be a member of this group. One unique thing about this is they do election, where fans choose and elect who gets to be a member of AKB"48". They do work as a group but they are also competing each other. In order to earn vote from fans, they often work and perform alone. Each of them has to practice very very hard to remain among AKB48.

  • @RelVleDy I doubt that these parents push their daughters into show business. It's more like these girls are determined to be a member of idol group. You can tell this if you watch any audition clips. Wanting to be a very poplar girl is very natural and understandable desire, isn't it?

  • @dzunku1 Good point. Thankfully, the U.S. has the will to say to these young girls they don't have talent, whereas Japan just accepts them, regardless of talent, based on their looks.

It's really a concern for the Japanese film industry, because if you see their quality of actors, it's very poor in comparison to U.S. standards. They say that's one reason Japan embraces the comedy genre so avidly, is because it takes considerably less acting talent than, say, a romantic film.

  • @RelVleDy It's true that very few of them actually shows true singing and dancing talent. But you cannot compare Japan's idol industry to US music industry since it's very unique and and no other countries has any equivalent model. I see so many young girls from all over the world are dying to go to Japan and be a part of it because only Japan has it.

Besides it's very safe place for parents to send their kids because no romance is allowed.

I saw no graduated idol went into acting carrier.

  • @dzunku1 No other country? Pueto Rican Menudo rings any bell? They started all the formulas in the 80. which became a entirely new genre by K-pop. AKB 48 is really considered Kpop rather than Jpop in that sense because Jpop is different than Kpop in terms of targeting individuals rather than the mass audiences.

  • @dokkiro AKB48 is Kpop?! REEEALY! You twisted the facts too much. That's a typical CCOK story. It's about a time for Tony to make a new video saying "This video is nothing to do with K-pop or Koreans!" Why can't you stay out from Japan related topics?

CCOK stands for Copy and Claim its Origin by Koreans.

  • @dzunku1 Jpop was a huge influence on development of Kpop also and nobody in Korea denies the fact. However Jpop now is believed to be more individualistic. AKB48 is something much devolved from current Jpop trend. I am not twisting anything. There are plenty of great blogs here. Don't focus only on my comments.

  • Is that the group where they took composites images of several beautiful AKB48 woman and made a virtual AKB48 member?

  • stop bashing on theres girl they a pretty good AKB48 is good also Girl Generation and good j-pop and k-pop and NO thats not slutty dressing they are nicely dressed.

  • wholesome my ass...lol, I saw those tight skirts. haha. They won't make it in America unless they start making some songs in English.

  • And another thing Tony. If they are dressed in school uniforms they are considered to be dressed like sluts. In America porn actresses are dressed in sexy thongs or skimpy clothes. In Japan school girl uniforms are the norm.

  • @dokkiro Are you implying that AKB would only be popular in places where K-pop isn't known like America, but because Japan "knows Kpop too well", they won't "be fooled", so they won't be popular in their own country Japan?

Because if that's what you're implying, that's really silly, considering how crazily popular they are in Japan.

    They don't "look Korean" either...

  • @baldyalexander From what I have heard so far Japanese are very famous for taking people apart and tell the world if they are Korean descents. Why just Yakuza or rape club convict or a murderer? I mean why not celebrities also? Bae Yong Joon looks very much like a Japanese man to most Koreans. Do you remember pink ladies? 1979 their name was J & K if I recall correctly. :)

  • @dokkiro @baldyalexander I saw their performances on youtube. I just cannot see this level of pop music being very popular in Japan and numbers of hits on youtube doesn't even beat kpop sang in Japanese by kpop artists. Maybe they should have hired better choreographers and music writers.

  • @dokkiro AKB is the most popular musical act in Japan in decades. AKB48 released 5 singles last year. Each single sold over a million copies. Those singles took up the top 5 spots in the Oricon year end sales charts. That's the first time ever that the top 5 spots were all taken by one act. (I believe they're also the only act to have ANY million selling singles at all in over 5 years) The #6 ranked song only sold just over half as many copies as AKB's lowest selling single of the year.

  • @dokkiro So yes, they're VERY popular in Japan. They've sold out the Budokan arena for people to just to watch them playing rock-paper-scissors for two hours, lol. Japan is CRAZY about them.

The actual quality of their music may be debatable, but their popularity can't be denied.

  • @baldyalexander What I said was this. Best music video done by AKB ranks about 10s of thousands hits and 2NE1 in Japanese language is on several millions. I am sorry but this group is nowhere near the top.

  • @dokkiro First off, Youtube views aren't the only way to determine popularity.

Second, I don't think you can count correctly? Because AKB has what I believe is the most viewed Japanese language music video on Youtube. Their PV for Heavy Rotation has over 60 million views. All of their videos have multiple millions of views.

So you want to ignore the fact that they sell more CDs and make more money than any other group in Japan, and claim they aren't at the top... just because you say so? Ok...

  • @baldyalexander My apologies. I looked for more AKB videos and indeed very few exceeds million hits. Their music is great also. I might be expressing critical view of them being behind in times but what I see is nostalgia of what k-pop used to be in the past.

  • @baldyalexander Just have one question about AKB. who makes up the demographics of AKB fans? I'm betting older men. Young Japanese wouldn't buy CDs they would rather pirate music from online. Nothing wrong with targeting the demographics who would pay the Yen.

  • Curious, where are you stationed?

  • Make me want to start a band called AK47 :)

  • @ArtisanTony That's more like America!

  • Remember Pink Lady..they where huge in Japan in the 70s, they managed to have a modicum of success in America, but they did kind of dress like tarts :)

  • They do dress like sluts... Japan is very AKB48 crazy, so much so in Akihabara they have full stores dedicated to them. I think that Japanese culture will make them not venture well in the US market.
