The Zelda Minish Cap episodes in this were actually from the GBA game, and the fact that the leveleditor still works when there is only the GBA game inserted into the DS is cause the "leveleditor" is a beta-item that can be placed on either A or B button... and since the game does indeed save what item you currently have on your A & B buttons, it does also keep the leveleditor untill you place some other item on previously mentioned button.
