I was wondering what he was going to do with one foot on and one foot out when leaving the lift.. I take it you glide down the hill then buckle your back boot in.. ahhh.. see they should explain every step! and free! seeing i've spent hundreds of dollars on burton gear!!! =(
I kinda want to add the the helmet comment below tho, helmets are really important no joke you may "not have to worry about getting a concusion" but you do. Me and a couple of friends of mine went up to a resort and my friend ended up getting a seriously bad ass concusion through his helm. No joke he's been riding for twice the years I've been riding imagine he didn't have a helm... But regardless even with a helm you need to becareful.
thats for this. i really love these videos. it gives me ideas for when im teaching snowboarding at my mountain.
never thought of having the kids lean forwards and back while moving but i guess that would really help them explore what is most comfortable for riding
Omg!!! ive been snowboarding for 5 days now and.. well im regular but i want to learn 180 but i cant land becouse i dont know how to ride goofy.. any tips.. ? ive tryed to learn snowboarding goofy but its just not possible.. reply PLZ!
when riding goofy. or regular for that matter, make sure, and i mean make sure that you have the weight towards the front. and which ever way your leading shoulder is pointed, is the way you are going to go
I've been snowboarding for about 2 months now, and i've tried 180 and i failed MISERABLY.. I did a 360 before doing a 180.. Then, i just said.. What the hell, its pretty easy to learn regular style.. Then i just went down the slopes regular for about 7 to 9 times, learned speedcheck and now i can do a perfect backside / frontside 180 :)..
well u shld learn a half cab which means u start backwards thn its easier cus u land normally but if u land in switch just go back to normal riding stance lean on ur front foot
For carving switch it's easier if your bindings are centered and fairly wide, also you can adjust the angles on your bindings so that they're both faced away from eachother (duckfoot) they don't have to completely face away from eachother tho (I go 15 -9)
like lennix said the first few days are really frustrating... follow the tips in this vid, they r great, and also look at some other video that might also help... just remember to be confident that your board is going to do what you want it to do, if not your gonna start falling on purpose and that's when it gets frustrating... oh and most importantly, have fun man! =]
Cheers for the advice. Yesterday i got all my gear. Going to have lessons next month at the Snowdome in UK before going out. So i can get max use out of the slopes. What does everyone think about wearing helmets?
dude if anybody gives you shit about wearing a helmet, tell them to go fuck themselves hehe =P
i wear a hemet and i have been boarding for 3 years... and many times if i hadn't had a helmet i would probably have had a concusion, I LOVE MY HELMET! and also it really boosts your confidence by not having to worry about busting your head open, so in the end it really helps you in becoming a better rider.
nice. I'm a snowboard instructor and that's always how I start my snowboard course, but I skip the up-down/favorite animal part. It has its use but I prefer having more time to teach real riding. Anyway nice vid, its cool to hear a different way of explaining things.
great vid! Thanks!!

whaatttt i didnt know that you had to dig your feet in the snow when you dont have the back foot strapped in.

It helps with braking if you are in crowded lift lines or dismounting a chairlift and aren't comfortable turning one-footed yet.
