First or not, her achievements can't be discounted. You may want to read Time magazine's Style & Design article, which cites Anna Bayle, together with Kimora Lee Simmons, Devon Aoki and Irini Pantaeva, who were the prominent Asian models during the 80s and 90s, paving the way for the current crop of rising Asian stars like Du Juan, Hye Park and Eugenia Mandzhieva. Hopefully, more Asians make it in the world of Fashion in the years to come.
She has an amazing, graceful, sinuous walk, and I agree about her being slender without looking like she's a skeleton. Today's models could learn a thing or two.
I saw her really up close at a Michael Kors Resort show at his showroom in Chelsea in the early 90s and she was spectacular. She was a generation older than Kareb, Gail, Yasmin, Meghan, Naomi and Carla but she held her own. No one worked that narrow showroom floor with more elegance and gravitas.
wow...that walk..so phenomenal!....a woman painted by igarta...immortalized(too bad his paintings are locked in a warehouse somewhere in nyc). she walked for the world and yes..we love it! we luv ya honey...oui cest manefique!
NO! she's not the first Asian supermodel-- far from it.
if we go by fashion history-- the first ever Asian model who did the Paris collections was HIROKO for Pierre Cardin-- who was then at t he height of his fame.
then MARIE HELVIN in the 70's-- you couldn't find any magazine without her in it in the 70's--it was really Helvin who worked alongside Jerry Hall( they were best buddies) & Iman doing the Paris collections.
Marie helvin was not known for being an asian. Being the first asian in the catwalks of europe doesnt mean that youre the first asian supermodel. There are handful of asian models before anna bayle who became famous in europe, the japanese sayoko, the indian kivat and another filipina, tetta agustin, but they never reached the supermodel status, as compared to ms. bayle

anyone heard of Marie Helvin? she's Japanese/American whose truly the first Asian supermodel-- she came about in the 70's doing the collections with Jerry Hall & was married to David Bailey who 'discovered' the FIRST REAL SUPER MODEL OF ALL TIME-- JEAN SHRIMPTON. THE SHRIMP INVENTED THE WORD!
She's fabulous. She keeps her word that she wouldn't go back to modelling. She even said no to YSL for his last retrospective show prior to his retirement.
i heard shes coming up a reality show, just like america's next top model.. the title will be who is the next anna bayle.. so i guess the aspirants and models to be are asians or filipinos perhaps.
Oh my GOD..who is she?i really dont know who is she nd suddently she become an asia super model.Walk on the runaway also like something bite her leg...haiyo...
bonzaimy theres a site called wikepidia type look for the search icon then type anna bayle then press search...read everything about her...but I doubt youll understand...

I love this guy's voice, my fav perts are:
