After seeing Jon Stewarts reaction to Second Life, I think he is just showing himself to be an aging troglodyte.

I feel that virtual worlds are growing, and their social and political influence will become a force in the future!

Seriously, a popular comedy show gives you much needed publicity and you thank him by overreacting? I guess you can afford to do that because all those other comedy shows give you such better publicity... (the ONLY reason I've EVER heard of any of this second-life nonprofit activity IS because of JS! If anything you should be grateful!)

If you play Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, an MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment, they put a little fairy character called Tenby in the starting area. You can only find her when you pick up a cookie, and when you give it to her, she becomes this huge ugly troll called Glitteractica that tries to beat the ever loving crap out of you.

Point being made: shitty responses like this, made in a program like imovie, from people taking their avatars WAY too seriously, will only incite more satire.

I don't know if you guys actually know this, but The Daily Show is COMEDY. It's on COMEDY Central. If you don't know this and are offended by it, don't watch it anymore. If you are still offended... well, then maybe you *should* get a real life.

Seriously, I expected more from the type of people who are interested in investigating alternate conceptions of reality and social construction. To be so self involved as to not appreciate the satire of Jon and his brilliant show is just plain sad. As a player of MMORPGs myself, it pains me to agree with the originally sardonic assertion that these people should get a first life.
