I feel like those words were chosen in order to, if not sympathize, then to empathize, saying we all have our rough days and our hard times. Some have it worse than others, yes, but we are all connected in that we all share those feelings of a sort of loss of self-worth sometimes.

I commend her word choice, I think it fits the situation from a variety of angles.

@kreessa3 to empathize is to put yourself on the place of another person. That means to be able to understand what that person is going through and why that person thinks or does what he/she does. Unless "you" explicitly say that "you understand how that person feels", using those words (the ones from the lyrics) is completely disagreeing with that person and not understanding his/her feelings, therefore it's being the opposite of supportive.

Take that trophy from your hands could refer to she was a constant winner or things were so well, which ties into we all have to lose sometimes, meaning of course you can't win everything in life and there are gonna be ups and downs

I may agree on your interpretation of "you lost your mind", but do you think that someone who feels bad, lonely, and probably feeling that nobody understands him/her would feel better if you say "stop complaining, you are not right on this 1"?? that adds one more person to the whole bunch that doesn't get him/her (+ppl loving this song)

However, I guess I would reconcile that with trusting the intelligence and connection that TerraNaomi always makes in her lyrics and that this is, I therefore hope, right for the person for whom it was written.

@DracMastah I have been depressed and I disagree with what you wrote about this song. The lines "take that trophy off your hands", meant that the person that was suicidal viewed suicide as the answer to all of her problems. She thought that committing suicide was a victory even though it would only cause more problems. When Terra said we all have to loose sometimes, I believe that she meant that it was OK for her to give suicide up, and that she didn't have to go through with it.

Still bothers me though when she says some things like "what happens when they hurt a girl", 'cause I feel like she considers her immature and doesn't take her as an equal person. Details like this may change my whole perception of the song.

Anyhow, I guess this shows us that many can have various interpretations, and lyrics can definitely have a different impact on each one. If i was deppresed, i know this wouldn't help me.
