I like this motivational speech because it's hopeful. Win or lose, succeed or fail, who you're up against or how many odds against, it just doesn't matter, just as long as you do something instead of nothing.

I love the quick cut to the blond girl who seems astounded by the intensity of Bill Murray's performance.

Somehow, it reminds me of the moment in Monty Python's Holy Grail where King Arthur and the knights meet the enchanter, Tim, played by John Cleese. Cleese give's a similarly wildly intense characterizatiion and as he winds up one rant, Graham Chapman, as Arthur, turns to the other knights and says quietly, "What an eccentric performance!".

This movie is so cool because even though I'm 40 years old, I still remember this era. Summer camp was awsome weather you were cool or not, weather you were athletic or not, or even if you looked funny and didn't fit in. It just didn't matter! I miss this era so much because it tought the real values. Have fun, be yourself, look out for others and do the right thing. IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!!!

I'm watching this because I try so hard in my microbiology class and something always goes wrong with the computer or grade book, always things that are completely out of my control. I'm getting farther and farther from that A. But "It just doesn't matter! It just doesn't matter!" I feel so much better and am now smiling :)

Meatballs must have been the easier script ever to write, because EVERY aspect of it reflects exactly my childhood camping experiences. Including this scene, very much so!

We had some gung-ho, absolutely fun counselors who always lifted every camper's spirits at every turn, such as this scene!

But, it is their personal interactions and reflections during the quiet moments, when they took time to be one-on-one with each camper, which makes me remember these riotous scenes with great affection.
