Actually the PG-13 rating was created for Raiders of the Lost Ark, years before this film was rreleased.

If I remember correctly, I think the rating was created after "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" (1984).

That's right, the PG-13 rating had come out the year before in 1984. But it was it's early stages where it was applied to more gruesome or sexually explicit movies.

@Jal8919536 Pg 13 was actually first created for Gremlins in 1984. The studio didn't know how to rate it. The stabbing scene in the kitchen was the one responsible for it apparently.

The fortune teller resembles Ms. Miller from "The Chipmunk Adventure" since the characters in both films were designed by character designer Louise Zingarelli. Plus, Anthony Delongis, who voices Zygon here, voiced Klaus in "The Chipmunk Adventure".
