@stretchypants123 I agree. It was so well made. The story just sucks you right in. It was such a head spinner, made you second guess what you thought was really going on when you find out what "things".I wish they would actually remake this for the newer consoles.
@xenogears13 You see, what I noticed about the game is that towards the end, they seem to make the Diabolos event worth looking-into, but they never really got around to that part. I wished they have made a section regarding the Diabolos event to see what that was about. I was really interested about it so it kinda disappointed me.
I just wish Square didn't pull out half of the team that was working on Xenogears( not to mention not enough budget!). I bet they'll even animate this scene.
I've never played the game or know the characters, but for some reason that conversation about Elly falling in love with Fei because she was actually running away from her true self kinda made me tear up.
I came to this video for a cheap sex scene, and instead I got tears. T_T

If they did, then it's really gross (I mean, even if I liked them, I would be pretty grossed out by the thought of them having sex outside, on a rock, where everyone could see them... like their friends... nothing of the sort happened IMO... just talking and head on shoulder...). At least, Fei and Elly did it in private... the respectful way (too bad some people are being pervert instead of thinking it was a sweet moment in their love story).

my favorite part of this entire beautiful scene is when Fei walks up to Elly and says srtaight out... "I promise you I will return---I want you to be my reason to return... to be my home that I can return to.---as long as you will stay by my side...I know I'll be able to do anything..."
and by the way...I know this may sound odd....but elly is one of the best looking anime girls I've ever seen on tv or in a game...other anime beauties include

Unfortunately I just can't handle any sort of love scene, it's like their lips are two trains on the same track and you're going 'noooo' in your head before they wreck into a fiery explosion of cringeworthy sugaryness.
perhaps if it was kept entirely pixelated, that wouldn't be the case. the idea of them kissing within the frame of reference that it's the game is probably more powerful than cutting to an anime sequence where they do just that. anyway, i didn't have any real problem with it, just playing devil's advocate.
i think Xenogear is a complete story rpg ever made, you can find something like romance,evilness,comedy,heroism,sadness,pettyness,happyness etc.... but it still has a weak spot = CD 2 monologue...he..he...
Yeah I know that well..that why I say 'a complete story rpg ever made'...the story i tragic but the ending is happy....in reality this game is 'crippled' in making proses but the result is also happy ending since a lot people like it.....personally ..I always say that FF8 is like dust covering a big diamond- Xenogears-..hindering it's beauty shine but only temporary...diamond are forever.
You know terentaitom, I kinda believe that... but that's not totally why Fei wants her out of the mission. "This is too dangerous !" (ah ah... Fei reminded me of Cloud just here) and he adds that Elly is over sensitive and can't kill people... how did she manage to get in the military then and be a lieutenant ?
I guess I would have prefered Fei to just explain her that people needs her alive and that's why she must not participate in the battle.
I've played the game. Until I read a certain article, I didn't notice the bits of "sexism"... I was amazed by Elly and Miang and I'm still a fan of them. I kinda like Margie too. But Miang was the puppet of Deus, Elly got killed and had to be saved (but okay, her sacrifice was useful and she did save Fei's life once) and Margie wants to protect Bart but it's always HIM who saves her. And the elements are Ramsus's fangirls... more than credible soldiers (maybe coz 3 of them don't have a story).
Strange, I'm very sensitive about gender roles... and I came to realize that Xenogears is a bit sexist towards the women (especially Elly who is supposed to be a soldier... but she always has to be rescued... and here she's told to not participate in the battle... and I think she deserved much more than that as a character... or let's say, Alice who can't leave Lahan and must be married to a man from the village or Yui who abandonned her duty as a Shevat soldier and became a housewife).
I don't think you've really played the game... what about the first human being, being Mother, a woman. What about all the reincarnation of Elly that sacrifices herself to save the reincarnations of Abel?? I mean it's all the other way around, and like terentaitom said she was also a Saint to the masses. Oh and do not forget the Elements that were all men then the new ones were all women...
It's not either, Squenix, aka Square-Enix, holds all the rights to Xenogears. So Monolith Soft can't make any real prequel (it's before Xenogears hence not a sequel). There were a few other links to Xenogears, but the story is not the same.
I use to have it back around 1998. I beat it but soon later sold it and now I dont see this game in stores now a days. Its extremely rare now. Wish I never sold it :( I would love to play it again...

But I prefer Xenogears. Much more epic... with much more plot holes too but... it was unfinished after all. I'm sure the story (and the game) would have been completed and better handled if only Takahashi had one more year to work on it.
7:33 : plot hole ! It was never said before that Fei owned this pendant from the beginning. If he did, why did he not notice it on the painting ? Maybe Citan took it and gave it back to him at some point after Nisan's visit.

suikoden 2 was very nice, but xenogears story line was just to hardcore for xenogears and battle system, was harder and more enjoyable, not to take anything away from suikoden but xenogears was just well....XenogearS

Yeah I really like them to remake this game and fix the disc 2 problem and release on xbox 360 or ps3 or any next gen system. Sigh....... Xenosaga was kind of dissapointing until the 3rd one. I like the 3rd one more than 1 and 2. Coz 3rd one resembles the original Xenogears.

I actually liked disc 2 because the story was so good I just wanted to see more. The three dungeons in disc 2 sucked though, especially the last one. I couldn't get through that part without the guide.
yeah god forbid that...ID is insane and he has super mega powers, then again so does fei and fei can use IDs powers without being completely taken over via system ID so they are both dangerous. ID just has the persona of a crazed serial killer while fei is quiet and gentle.
2nd disc is pure dialogue because It was supposed to be gameplay, but Squaresoft made them keep to the time limit. So all the story you see was supposed to be playable parts.

I haven't played it, it is sitting in storage.
I am going to buy a PSOne just so I can play it. Then I am going to buy another PSOne and keep it in its box so my kids can play this great game.

FF7 wasn't a date game, please.
But I prefer Xenogears. Much more epic... with much more plot holes too but... it was unfinished after all. I'm sure the story (and the game) would have been completed and better handled if only Takahashi had one more year to work on it.
7:33 : plot hole ! It was never said before that Fei owned this pendant from the beginning. If he did, why did he not notice it on the painting ? Maybe Citan took it and gave it back to him at some point after Nisan's visit.

but to be honest the things that killed xenogears for me and made me not wanna play xeno saga is: they got too fictional, to critical of relegion, and started there own brain washing.
but its def a memory great overall rpg still got to goofy and fictional, yet gameplay...music was exceptional, and yes alot of the story was touching.
one of the best musical rpgs

suikoden 2 was very nice, but xenogears story line was just to hardcore for xenogears and battle system, was harder and more enjoyable, not to take anything away from suikoden but xenogears was just well....XenogearS

Yeah I really like them to remake this game and fix the disc 2 problem and release on xbox 360 or ps3 or any next gen system. Sigh....... Xenosaga was kind of dissapointing until the 3rd one. I like the 3rd one more than 1 and 2. Coz 3rd one resembles the original Xenogears.

I actually liked disc 2 because the story was so good I just wanted to see more. The three dungeons in disc 2 sucked though, especially the last one. I couldn't get through that part without the guide.

yeah god forbid that...ID is insane and he has super mega powers, then again so does fei and fei can use IDs powers without being completely taken over via system ID so they are both dangerous. ID just has the persona of a crazed serial killer while fei is quiet and gentle.

i don't think you ever walk on the world map with Weltall 2.
had disc two been done better, who knows what kinda attention it would have recieved

2nd disc is pure dialogue because It was supposed to be gameplay, but Squaresoft made them keep to the time limit. So all the story you see was supposed to be playable parts.
