I think by not actually looking at the apps you missed this whole open-source music essence of the album. She gives you the scores and pretty much tells you this is where I was coming from why don't you show me where you are. If that's not approachable then I'm not sure what is for you. I think it's not even meant to teach anything, but just have you experience it in a more tangible way. It just seems like a missed opportunity for just feeling snarky towards a new presentation of an album.

I agree with your review. There are a handful of Biophillia tracks I love, several that I like, and some I don't care for at all. I wish Bjork wouldn't keep trying so hard to be "out there" and instead just make some good tunes. I still love her though for her vision and willingness to try things that haven't been done before.

BUT

the whole soundtrack criticism is really interesting to me. I haven't yet heard the album, but I think, if the content is interesting enough, and if the music is good enough, the distracting qualities shouldn't really make a difference. the only reason i make this arguement is ebcause one of my favorite bjork albums is Selmasongs, which was literally a soundtrack and still produced some of her best, most innovative, and most musical tracks to date.

Hey Anthony, I'm surprised you didn't even mention the amazingly wonderful Thunderbolt with its beautiful tesla coil bass line and the hauntingly beautiful Dark Matter with its omnipresent drone-y sound and the piercing sonic sculpting added by long term collaborater Leila Arab. I was wondering from the start what you might think about Dark Matter and looking forward to that review and your opinion.
