Somewhat since they don't have a spark plug. It's more that you need to keep the engine air intake and exhaust above water... On the buses I drive in intakes are about 8 feet up in the back and the exhaust is on the top drivers-side corner. This appears to be a similar design.

The air intakes are about 8 feet up on either side in the back (where the engine is) and the exhaust is similarly located. My question is, how is the driver doing... they need air to work as well and buses are fair from air-tight (also, that amount of air would be buoyant, so the bus is flooded internally)...
