Anyone who says that is not a great lay down is lying or is a millionaire from playing poker... The flush was back door, if it was a 2 flush flop then fair enough but hard to see him chasing a flush on that flop or happening to have the straight and the flush draw. I would have called without a moments thought... Think Deeb should have bet the turn though to see where he was at.
ima clarify this for all the idiots below.. deeb made a straight on the river which makes it extremely tough to fold, seeing as though the odds of chan having KQ are extremely low. the reason it's a great laydown is because he put chan on the flush he had, and Deeb threw away a made hand.
"great laydown" my ass. Easy fold. 4 to a straight out there, any flush beats his hand, 7 beats his hand before the river even gets there. Re-raise by Chan on the river = easy fold.
EASY fold , when chan raises 60k into a pot of 29k you fold, SIMPLE, if it were some one like durrr u may look him up, but only for him to say durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! LOL
It is right that the flush is very disguised, but doesn't change that the river is a bet/fold spot for deeb. Chan is never bluffing with his line on that board, because he can't rep alot.
I' ve seen some fairly easy laydowns overratted on youtube. This, however is not one of them. Hell of a laydown by Deeb. The way the hand played out its hard not to put Chan on the same Queen high straight or a bluff. tough tough to not call that
the key part of the hand was the raise on the river...why would chan raise a Q high straight with a potential flush out there? the call would have been the appropriate decision. Great laydown.
From an aggressive player like Johnny Chan when the flush comes and he's just been calling on every street, my mind would wander to the flush. The announcer is correct in that the jack of clubs would have made Johnny a lot more money.
No, not standard, he had an overpair and a straight. + it was hard to put chan on a flush draw as he called on the flop. Don't doubt these guys are miles above you my man.
@patrick7737 Chan like to FLOAT, often he sucks out with a BDFD or BDSD getting there, this time he had both on the flop, still basically "nothing" but he likely thought he also had the overcards for 6 outs on the turn -- he had position too, so calling on the flop and 90% of the time folding the turn is pretty standard here headsup.
Hard for someone to put him on the flush by the river, but the straight for sure that was a possibility.
@patrick7737 standard for any good player. since most of you guys are not good its no surprise that you have 15 votes up. you all can fuck off because it is standard to a good player. you clearly don't know the difference and i dont have time to teach you why.
@AhYaOk 100% agree. Pretty easy laydown if you actually think about it. You can't raise the river and expect a worse straight to ever call you, so raising with just a Queen in your hand would be pointless as you're never getting called by worse. Seeing as Chan did raise the river, Deeb can put him on something that beats his straight, and can therefore fold his hand reasonably easily. Hilarious how people think this is an impossible laydown.
This is not an easy laydown, but it's definitely not a hard one. You only beat a bluff here.

Pretty easy fold when the Orient Express is reraising 4.5X the pot

1.) The float call by chan on flop was absolutely legit and a good call considering that there are a lot of good turn cards for chan
2.) The check by deep was unlucky, because it gave Chan a free card and since he gave him the free card on the turn he could put him on a flush
3.) Since Chan is a rock and he raised it almost 2xpot, it was a GOOD laydown, not a great one but defenitly a good one
TomiAk47 9 months ago
@TomiAk47 I disagree. What were the good turn cards? What was Chan even putting him on? Chan did not play this hand well at all.
JeeRaph 8 months ago
@JeeRaph
you do know that i listed my arguments below?
about the good turn cards: any spade, 10 and of course K (not the best card probably but a good one)
TomiAk47 8 months ago
@JeeRaph Calling with two overs is a bad play then
?
Gofannon1985 8 months ago
@Gofannon1985 6 outs if the other guy doesn't have something like AK or AQ. Wtf was Chan putting him on? Shit play by Chan.
JeeRaph 8 months ago
Forget lines and ranges, it's not that tough of a fold simply because Johnny Chan is a hypernit.

Have you seen that size bet?Of course he was beaten,if Chan had one Q he would have only called the bet not reraise b/c of the flush posibility

even with three spades how in the hell did he read flush with it so disguised? Great read
samauripizzacats101 1 year ago
That flush draw saved Deeb quite a few doubloons. Otherwise it would've been second nuts vs nuts.

Love the way guys come on here looking at the hole cards saying easy lay down, we all would have at least called Chan.

Wow that is quite a laydown because he knew chan had a flush even though chan could have the same straight as Deeb creating a split pot.
