I first got into ballet in the year of our Lord, 2000. And I got into it after I mastered the likes of Yoga and Pilates far too quickly. Thank God "Center Stage" came out. 'Cause after it did, it made doing ballet... "cool." After that, dance pictures were coming out like crazy.
Ballet has become a lot more respectable. And it is respectable for a boy to be in ballet. This is... this is reassuring to know.
@poosaypirate There were times when ballet did not warrant respect--no matter how much it deserved it. Especially for males. While anything with a Y chromosome was in extremely high demand as such are scarce in ballet class and companies, boys and men alike could be killed for showing any interest in ballet. The classical music, the feminine graceful leaps, tendus, pirouettes and arm movements. And of course... the dainty slippers and tights. Thankfully, things change. That's evolution for you.
