And it is good to know that MC Shy D is back again in a new project called The Bass Superstars ( 69 Boyz' Thrill Da Playa, 95 South's Daddy Black, Duice's LA Sno, Raheem The Dream, Splack Pack, Dis N Dat and others). MC Shy D was a great hit in 80´s in my hometown, Rio de Janeiro, and may God bless him and DJ Man (R.I.P.) !!!

  • I played out in parties in south London and we mixed this with house tunes far half an hour with Nitro delux, Steve Silk Hurley and Raze...WICKED!!!

  • i just love dis shit

  • I got one thing to say!!!!!!!! JAM PONY EXPRESSS

  • This reminds me back in the days in Hialeah, FL 80's

  • @TheBluePepper Back in the day they were just rapping for entertainment (and to make a paycheck). Nowadays it's a lot more corporate. They have to tone it down or they won't get airplay.

  • Dude, this was on the first mixtape I ever owned.

  • yo cuz who is this kid shy d? it's that cat from the 80's that had us dancing to this cut. man i miss the true days of real hip-hop.bambaataa,moe-dee,L.L.,eric b. & rakim,run-dmc,the d.o.c.,whodini,public enemy, fat boys, grand master flash, hammer, chubb rock,a tribe called quest, pete rock & C.L smooth, tupac, biggie, geto boys newcleus, salt n pepa, rodney o & joe cooley,x-clan ect.. now society is stuck with thug ass,gun packing,no rapping, violent, illiterate motherfuckers who have no clue about music

    DUUUUUUUUVVAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

NIGGA USED TO DO DA PREP, Da CABBAGE PATCH, TOILET BOWL..... n THIS WAS DA BEGINNING OF DA "WOOP" ERA!!!!!!

  • Bringing tears to my eyes as I reflect! I haven't heard this since 86! Rap was so much better when it was underground!

  • @arobinson68 Dam i had forgotten about this. Does bring back tears. I try to give the new stuff a try but its just junk. What i don't understand is they have way more money and machines so you would think it would be easier to make jams but they still can't seem to figure it out. They don't even look like rappers any more.

  • @Tampa0123456789 It's a lot more business in it now than it was back in the day... plus it was a lot easier to sell music back then that it is now. You pretty much HAVE TO go by the formula on the mainstream side or you will be forgot about in a year or two...

  • ahhh hell this beat!!!

  • Damn..wish i still had my heavy ass Old School Boom box i used to carry with me to the park and play jams like this. I sure miss those days!!!!

  • lol i use to jamm to this in my room too!!! wow memories

  • AWWWWWWWWWWW YEAH!!

  • One of my favorites. Ahh, the memories. Two 15" Cerwin Vegas made the car seem like it was falling apart.

  • @emptypockets42 : yo....what about the Alpine pullout stereos, Toyota mini trucks slammed on Enkei cookie cutter rims.....you member !!!

  • @emptypockets42 Always tripped me out that people would spend a few hundred bucks (seemed like a lot back then, ha!) on their system, and then they wouldn't bother taping down the license plate. Sounded great inside the car, but outside was just "BZZZZZ! BZZZZZ! BZZZZZ!"

  • mc shy d made a path for other atl mcs

  • damn , miss my cuz and the shit we did back in the day!! it was fresh!!

  • This dude did alot of 2 live crew's early beats.

  • "the pink panther and fred sanford" damn classic.man this takes me back to the 80's where we danced our asses off at the clubs to this track along with newcleus, bambaataa,ll,mantronics, cybotron, moe dee,fat boys, whodini ect.... todays so called rap does'nt even come close to yesterdays music. how many times can you talk about your dick, bitch, car, money,"shawty",and all that other stupid reptitive bullshit. real hip-hop 80's-early to mid 90's after that all bullshit.maybe a few thats cool.

  • @ thebluepepper check out what we are doing on facebook. we are in pre production on 10 music videos. our artists are bringing back the old school.. search Leeron Moraes on Facebook!!

  • I use to jam to this in my dorm room in 87' as a freshman in college

  • @ecuajey100

    daymmmn niggah, you old!

me too - class of '87

    booyah!

  • @ecuajey100 I graduated high school in '87. I used to rock this in my '85 escort. I had an Alpine radio with a Pilot house speaker in the trunk.

  • @ecuajey100 -- i know!! right? I was in 7th grade when this dropped and my tape deck stayed with this tape in it!

Loved it for the Earth Wind and Fire sample.

  • I haven't heard this song in years. It was much better in my memory. MC Shy D sucks.

  • He made the record The Pink Panther... AND Fred Sanford.. can you even imagine that such a thing would be possible?

  • This was the shit back in the day.

  • This still rocks today. Surprised it hasn't been sampled more. I thought SHY-D was a girl for months before my east coast homeboy told me it was a dude. LOL

  • I understand what your saying "panamaniak". All i'm saying is, hip hop originated in the US.

  • Dam.. Miami checking in.. great memories here ! 1.

  • Ahhh! Shy D! NYC transplant! Damn, he had some above average skills. He should've been bigger than he was. Thanks Luke for screwing this MC over. Luke,Eazy,Suge,Puffy, etc why do label CEOs ALWAYS gotta screw artists over? They forget that without the artist they don't EAT either.

  • man I use to have this on Vinyl my God i played this song everyday i thought the album cover was so dope what happened to Shy D.

  • Great rapper

  • People from UK are fucken lame! they dont know shit about this!..They dont have house parties like Cali!!!!!!!

  • Sorry bro but this is Florida music.

  • Florida music my ass. I can give a good dam where its from! This shit is old school, always a favorite. Trust and believe that!

  • Not Florida,Luther Campbell was from Florida but MC Shy D was an Atlanta Artist. He came up in the game with DJ Smurf,Raheem, & Sammy Sam, all ATL artist. Chek out one of his best cuts back in '88. MC Shy D-Atlanta That's Where I Stay

  • Actually it's a KNOWN fact that young kids in the UK are a LOT more knowledgeable about TRUE Hip Hop than US kids. Many US DJs have said that when they tour over there. People like Afrika B, Grandmaster Flash, Red Alert, they haven't been corrupted by cookie cutter "hip hop" yet.

  • This was massive in the Uk as well back in the day, beyond a classic.

  • my dad knoes him from the navy!!!

  • Similar to Technotronic`s "Tough"

  • did he ever battle anybody?

  • Mc Shy D and I gotta be tough!! A check it out! BREAKDOWN!!!!

  • Yes Yes Y'all got heavy rotation here in the South too.

  • I know this backgorund singin from "Joe Budden - Body Hot"

  • This takes me back to being in L.A. listening to KDAY. Who is this sample from in this song?

  • yeah 1580 AM

  • One of Earth Wind and Fire's songs.

  • Which one?

  • Shit, I can't remember, but I'm on the case to find out. It may be on one of their greatest hits CD's. Try iTunes.

  • It's a song by EW&Fire called " Brazilian Rhyme"(interlude). It's on the CD "All in all". Enjoy!

    Muthafuckaaaaaaaa!!!!:>
