Ever before that they were never crazy about the type of litter this system uses. If you buy it i recommend you keep the box to make it easier to return.

It is a bit small, I am thinking of getting one since my cat will not use a box with the topper and she can never stand far enough in the litter box to actually pee in it and pees all over the floor every time! Then she can't figure out how to hide it!!! You would think after a 100 times doing this she would try something new, but nooo, not my cat! LOL

I have own my CatGenie for a little bit more than a year. Even though it appears to be so easy and convenience my is 70% of the time not working properly. Most of the time it going into error mode and it is driving me crazy, to the point that I would never purchase another CatGinie or recommended to any of my cat owner friends and is a shame because this machine is very expensive $500.00. This is a TERRIBLE product! It's common knowledge that cat feces should never, ever be flushed down a toilet or waterway. It contains the parasite Toxoplasma gondii, which is now known to be responsible for decimating sea otter numbers (as well as affecting human fetal development!). Modern sewage treatment plants don't get rid of this parasite and dumping cat litter down the toilet in CA is now illegal. A good example of extreme gross negligence on the part of the Cat Genie company.

I am a Chemist/Biologist, what does chemically abrasive mean? Two rain water and glacier water are not pure. If we are talking about a molecular level, it's basically impossible to purify anything 100% You have 6.023 X 10^23 molecules in 18grams if water, make sure you don't have an extra of anything in the galaxy. Also, make sure it is free of ions, btw water ionizes itself.
Toxoplasmosis is no worse than many other illness, and it's not exclusively in cat feces - any mammal can have it. Fetuses, cats w/FIV & people w/AIDS are the ones who really need to be concerned. A healthy mammalian immune system can usually take care of it without medication. If you're going to believe every study that comes along, then you must believe that women who have Toxoplasma are found to be more attractive by men, or that people with Toxoplasma are more likely to have car accidents.

The granules are not sand, but little rectangular shaped plastic pieces about the size of a grain of rice (a little smaller). They do not clump, but rather the urine drains to the bottom of the bowl. My 18 pound male cat just fits in there. It's not really roomy for him, and lately he has taken to peeing on the floor next to it. Not happy about that! Yesterday, he pooped where he usually pees next to it. Thinking of going back to the pain in the butt litter boxes. He trying to tell us something?
As a general rule, when my cats do that it's because they don't like the smell. You might want to give it a good going over (if that's even possible with this system) and see if that solves the problem . . . Let me know how it goes - if your tom stops misbehaving I may take one back to London!
did this once. took a long time to get to the point of no accidents, and then i was faced with waiting in line for my own toilet in the morning... not sure it was worth the effort as we moved and the current set up was not practical for kitty using the human can.
Well, that's your experience. Some people have found great success in toilet training. Did you train your cat using the Misha toilet training? I'm in the second week of toilet training my 9 month old ragdoll kitten. So far there have been no problems with the Misha method. First I put the box beside the toilet, waited a week, raised it 3 inches, and now I'm waiting another week and I'll raise it another 3 inches.

Cats are very cleanly, you generally just have to show them a litter box and they know what to do. In fact I've never met a kitten who didn't already know what to do with a litter box.
its actually not an innate ability. Generally the mother cats show them how/where to go to the bathroom and how to clean themselves afterwards. Sadly, my adopted 5 week old kitten did not know how to do either. She had been in foster care and away from her mother long before she should have been. She didn't know a lot of basic cat stuff when I brought her home. Thankfully I had an older kitten who shows her how to do things.

It will auto clean up to 4 times a day, depending on your settings. No, your cat will most likely never go in the CG (CatGenie) while it is cleaning, but if the curious cat does, it will auto stop (it has sensors). Go to CatGenie's site to find out more about it.

They are Bengals. A hybrid as a result of breeding a domestic cat with an "asian leopard cat". These are 5th generation so they're not spastic or wild, they just look REALLY COOL. They're really smart as well, love to play fetch etc.

We have not yet reached the stage of water shortage.. actually we've never had water shortage either. The biggest reason why we don't just boil all water before we consume it is a financial reason.. it takes allot of energy to heat up water and thus for it's expensive.. As species we've created a system which is so expensive that we can't thrive within it.. and we can't afford to put it down since that's expensive too. But I assure you, boiling water results in clean water.

This is bull shit For one, we are going through a water shortage right now. Secondly, it's not costly to boil water, we treat sewage water all the time to turn it into drinking water, we have been doing that for a long time. But because of the antibiotics and other things that get into the water, our water is becoming more and more unpalatable The sources of water which contain the most water on the planet, including oceans and icebergs are the most expensive methods of obtaining drinking water.

One wonders though, since it's not that hard to clean water without destroying it with chemicals, why don't we do more of it? What is the big problem? What's the cause for your water shortage?

My water shortage? This is not just the case for myself, it's the case for everyone on the planet. Because of poor planning and irresponsible use of water (ie. taking 2 showers a day, flushing the toilet when it's not needed, etc) we will know what it's like to now have palatable water in our lifetime. Using this 'smart ass' technique and ignorant attitude, just shows how much you don't see in the world around us. The point is that these antibiotics/medicines can't be taken out of the water.

Are you serious.. you know water is one hydrogen molecule and two oxygen molecules, right? You can extract both from water using energy.. you can filter water 100%, it's just energy costly. I apologize for insinuating that it's just your problem, it is apparently every-bodies problem.. unless you don't look at it as a problem, which I don't.

You cannot filter water 100%. You should read more often, maybe it would open your eyes a little more since you tend to take the ignorant route.
First of all, you can have pure water with nothing in it (aka rain water or glacier water, which is indeed costly) but that is chemically abrasive to your bones anyways and people use way more water than what can rain.
Obviously I know the chemical makeup of a water molecule if I can tell you this much. I'm not retarded. You, sir, have a lovely day.

Pure water with no minerals (like with Aquafina and rain water) is chemically abrasive to your bones.

But the last I heard was that water cannot be filtered 100% because, like xpurple said, of antibiotics we take and then excrete. I am a Chemist/Biologist, what does chemically abrasive mean? Two rain water and glacier water are not pure. If we are talking about a molecular level, it's basically impossible to purify anything 100% You have 6.023 X 10^23 molecules in 18grams if water, make sure you don't have an extra of anything in the galaxy. Also, make sure it is free of ions, btw water ionizes itself.

Toxoplasmosis is no worse than many other illness, and it's not exclusively in cat feces - any mammal can have it. Fetuses, cats w/FIV & people w/AIDS are the ones who really need to be concerned. A healthy mammalian immune system can usually take care of it without medication. If you're going to believe every study that comes along, then you must believe that women who have Toxoplasma are found to be more attractive by men, or that people with Toxoplasma are more likely to have car accidents.

The granules are not sand, but little rectangular shaped plastic pieces about the size of a grain of rice (a little smaller). They do not clump, but rather the urine drains to the bottom of the bowl. My 18 pound male cat just fits in there. It's not really roomy for him, and lately he has taken to peeing on the floor next to it. Not happy about that! Yesterday, he pooped where he usually pees next to it. Thinking of going back to the pain in the butt litter boxes. He trying to tell us something?

As a general rule, when my cats do that it's because they don't like the smell. You might want to give it a good going over (if that's even possible with this system) and see if that solves the problem . . . Let me know how it goes - if your tom stops misbehaving I may take one back to London!

did this once. took a long time to get to the point of no accidents, and then i was faced with waiting in line for my own toilet in the morning... not sure it was worth the effort as we moved and the current set up was not practical for kitty using the human can.

Well, that's your experience. Some people have found great success in toilet training. Did you train your cat using the Misha toilet training? I'm in the second week of toilet training my 9 month old ragdoll kitten. So far there have been no problems with the Misha method. First I put the box beside the toilet, waited a week, raised it 3 inches, and now I'm waiting another week and I'll raise it another 3 inches.

Cats are very cleanly, you generally just have to show them a litter box and they know what to do. In fact I've never met a kitten who didn't already know what to do with a litter box.

its actually not an innate ability. Generally the mother cats show them how/where to go to the bathroom and how to clean themselves afterwards. Sadly, my adopted 5 week old kitten did not know how to do either. She had been in foster care and away from her mother long before she should have been. She didn't know a lot of basic cat stuff when I brought her home. Thankfully I had an older kitten who shows her how to do things.

My cat scrapes like crazy too. I always thought he was trying to tell me I needed to change the litter, but then he does it even with new litter. Glad to see it's normal. :) I would really love to get one of these, but I don't like that you have to hook it up to plumbing. I think my landlord would have a fit if he saw it.

It will auto clean up to 4 times a day, depending on your settings. No, your cat will most likely never go in the CG (CatGenie) while it is cleaning, but if the curious cat does, it will auto stop (it has sensors). Go to CatGenie's site to find out more about it.

The CG comes with a 2 year warranty. Rarely will you have any issues with the CG, but if you do they have some amazing customer service to help you out.

I have always wanted 2 know what kind of cats those were too! Anyways, why did they make the cat genie so small? Seems like Calvin couldnt even get comfortable @ first! They are Bengals. A hybrid as a result of breeding a domestic cat with an "asian leopard cat". These are 5th generation so they're not spastic or wild, they just look REALLY COOL. They're really smart as well, love to play fetch etc.
