This movie is relally clever in terms of how Genghis Khan is portrayed. People have this belief that he was a barbaric murderer but in reality, he wasn't all that bad of a person considering the situation at those times.
Sending those uber horsemen to kill off large numbers of the enemy and cause them to rout was a pretty good strategy and it worked quite well. Although I do feel it is sort of a waste to send your best soldiers on a suicide death like that.

The battle scenes are way over the top but the film itself makes me want to read about the Mongols and their history. I've no idea if the film is historically accurate or not, but if it gets people interested it can't be all bad.

Napoleon killed a lot of people and people consider him great. Caesar slaughtered a city full of Gauls, and he is remembered as great. Genghis Khan conquered the biggest empire EVER and unified the Mongol tribes. I would say that's a good bit greater than any leader before of since.
