@brostomper It definitely helps to be able to fingerpick, and there are lots of skills that you can bring over from the guitar, but it's definitely different! I know lots of fingerstyle guitarists that come over to the banjo...they love it! And, they generally pick it up pretty doggone fast.
I can play guitar pretty well is it easy to transition and learn banjo if you already know how to fingerpick?
