  • I flew in one on a r'n'r tour back in '94. The pilot was a 29 yrs old colonel ! He let me pilot the damn thing for a few minutes while flying over the Andes.... Crazy ! All dials had cyrillic readings.

Wherever we landed the airport would stop because everybody wanted to take a look.

  • beautiful aircraft.!!!!

  • no idea of what the first comment says but if 16 people like it so do i.

  • We have managed 4 of these charters for the company i work for, we just queezed 6 40' hc containers inside, got to meet the crew and sit in the cockpit. one nice aircraft.

  • I how the guy is just chillin in the ladder on the side of the plane!! haha

  • Piece of cake...Now line up a AN-225 for a visit...Now THAT would be exciting...

  • I live on Vandenberg AFB (USAF Space Command Base, no aircraft) and I occasionally see 124's coming from here. I have base access to the flight line so I can view the Launch Vehicles getting unloaded and prepared for assembly, its because the parts are to big to be driven by freeway so it has to be via An-124. Thanks for posting, so this is why they come from the South of me. Just to think in an hour or two I was going to see this same craft land here at VAFB

  • what happened to the guy on the ladder. ?

  • I'd be scared shitless as the pilot flying out of such a small airport like Long Beach...

  • @FlightSimulatorXATC The DC-10, KC-10, and MD-11 were all built at Long Beach. The C-17 is currently being built at Long Beach. The Air Force flys in B-1B's and the Navy flys in F/A-18's for avionic work. The C-5A has flown in for static air shows, and the President of the United States has landed in Air Force One at Long Beach. With a 10,000 foot plus main runway, it can land any heavy now flying.

Tell me why you think Long Beach is a 'small airport'?

  • Holy shit, thats a lot of power...

  • US companies contract the use of An-124's and the 225 for heavy contractor airlifts. I've seen An-124's and C-17 delivering V-22 airframes to Texas for final assembly.

  • i saw that exact same plane at perth internaional airport today and i dont know how it flies because it is as big as 8 houses

  • its russias version of our C7..but on roids lol

  • Sweet aircraft! I prefer helicopters myself...but I've been in a few of these 124's and I've been told the inside of the 225 is about the size a football field...AND THAT'S JUST THE INSIDE ALONE!,.... I work moving helo's and parts overseas...it's AWESOME to work with Volga

  • Wonderful aircraft, a real workhorse, Glad the current state of diplomacy allows visits like this. If we all understand each other we can work together and have true peace.

  • Very smooth take off.

  • niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • how often does it visit KLGB

  • Большой у него размах крыльев!

  • ya the 225 is the biggest

  • hey AN was made in USSR not in the Ukraine

  • @Marina19352 You're half right. It was made in the former Ukrainian SSR; part of the former Soviet Union, AKA: USSR.

  • XD yeah just let the guy on the stairs ride XD

  • yummy

  • @vantuba25 its does land at lax but its rare it was there about two weeks ago at LAX i live near there, by the way nice video.

  • Nice to look at those Antonov planes.

...But what happent at time 1.10..?

Seems like the video was cut/edited right after the "HolyShit" -comment.

    A police-car also appared after this video-cutoff.

  • @RolfTrondheim I think the police car is there to stop people from jumping that small fence to get a closer look.

  • ( from RolfTrondheim:

...sorry, multiple post from me here. Had some problem posting )

  • The biggest plane would be the Antonov 225 Myria

  • fuck ukraine is not available to build any fucking planes they building fucking engines for it that is it. those plane are building in russia make some fucking reserch than say some shiet

  • just wondering is the a225 the biggest plane ever???

  • @Drake4677 An 225 is a deep upgraded 124. That was build in the USSR specially for space Buran-Energiya project. The mission was to get Buran in to space without rocket. After 1989 and the USSR collapse only 3 of 225 was builded on 100%. One of them on duty in Uliyanovsk (Russia, Volga-Dnepr cargo), another one is on duty in Roskosmos (Russian space agency), and the last one (is't flightable) is on Aviant factory in Kiev (Ukraine).

  • Wow I live here in Long Beach and never have had chance to witness these events, maybe next time someone please send me a notice of such event soooo coool.

  • Magical sound...i spoken: magical...:)

  • thats a c765 version 6.

  • Oooh, a lady comms officer. I can hear the accent; beautiful. :)

  • damn it looks slow on a start. Awesome plane

  • Конечно самолет украинский, а торпеда "шквал" - киргизская))))

  • @cfnfyfcc20 самолет советский ;)

  • @cfnfyfcc20 Konechno samolet Ukrainskiy, a torpeda "shkval" Kyrgyzskaya))))

    ?

  • @JonnyCrash Production of military equipment Russia has hosted throughout the USSR. For example: production of torpedoes "squall" was located in Kyrgyzstan, but it is not Kyrgyz development, IL-76 was produced in Uzbekistan, I think it is clear that the plane was not Uzbek. Even at the present time the Bureau Antonov untenable without the participation of Russia. The latest draft of An-70 (a competitor of A-400) by 70% is financed by Russia, whose it a plane?

  • @cfnfyfcc20 "Production of military equipment Russia has hosted throughout the USSR. For example: IL-76 was produced in Uzbekistan, I think it is clear that the plane was not Uzbek. ----

relax -there are Ford and Toyota assembling factories in Russia - does it mean that Ford and Toyota are Russian cars?

  • @cfnfyfcc20 no speak russian

  • @cfnfyfcc20 no idea of what it means but, hell if 16 people like it so do i :)

  • wtf??? is there a dude behind the engine??? doesnt he die of all the exhaust heat and smoke???!

  • no...

  • company Russian, aircraft Ukrainan

  • we're both the same people, doesnt make a difference in the slightest :)

  • This is Russian company. Volga - Dnepr. They specialize in large cargo transport.

  • naa this is not ukrainen this is russian comp. Polet flight

    Ukrainen is Antonov breue

  • Ukranian aircraft..You cannot trust Wikipedia cuz you can edit it's article..

  • why didnt it land at lax

  • long beach handles a lot of cargo.

  • Thanks for uploading this man. I got the chance to get in and on a 124 when I was around 13. Got the video somewhere. IT camere here to Houston to pick up oil field equipment for a company my Dad worked for at the time. Was amazing!

  • Does anyone know if this plane ever lands at LAX?

  • Ive seen some pics of it there, not sure how often it goes there though.

  • @8081rt Well... It's the biggest operational civilian cargo plane. But by far not the biggest plane.

  • @8081rt Seen it at LAX last month during an early morning take off (6:30am?).

  • u must buy 20 elephants

  • @vantuba25 idk but its in long beach right now! it just landed at 1:30 pm july 6 u should go check it out!

  • @vantuba25 I've seen An124 at Ontario CA, Phillipines and I'm sure it can get clearance to land anywhere. It's no diffrent than a private cargo carrier.

  • @vantuba25 ... if you like to see this plane you must to the LEJ ;) we have every day this big plane

  • an-124 is a ukrainian aircraft,manufactured by antonov company based in kiev,ukraine.

  • Shit i wish i was you :P

  • why.

  • Because i love planes and you get lovely views of all types of planes :)

  • I agree with 8081rt . This is the biggest aircraft in the world:). And this is Russian. And they manufactured only one Antonov 124 and now they're building the second.

MAR108, read about it in wikipedia:P.

  • Your just as wrong. There are actually 50-55 124's and this isn't the biggest aircraft in the world.

  • You better look at the An-225

  • @xoniczka thje biggest plane in the world is the An-225

  • @xoniczka u say about AN-225, not 124.

  • @xoniczka This is not the biggest aircraft in the world, it is the Antonov An-225 "Mriya" (the An-124 is the 2nd largest), and they are both Ukranian not Russian. :)

  • @hatakekakashi1914 The only country who made An-124 is Russia. All of them are Soviet projects. Ukraine can't investigete such projects. Search google.

  • @aktovegin -not really. It was designed and investigated by UKRAINE's Antonov Design Bureau personnel (1st known as "Izdeliye 400") which was built in Ukraine's AVIANT plants, then built in Russia's Aviastar-SP. These days yes, Ukraine lacks finances for such large projects, so it the future proposed An-124s will be a mutual effort, with both Ukraine and Russia. BTW, I googled this multiple times, and my great uncles (Dhoubovetsky) where among the head designers of the An-124 & 225 so yeah...

  • @xoniczka etant militaire ce n'est pas le seul que j'ai vu!!!

  • @xoniczka 225-the biggest and he is only 1, 124 is the serial plane

  • tht shit is huge

  • thats wut she said =p

  • i see them all the time i live close to Long Beach Municipal, they manufacture them here.

  • the An-225 was built to carry the soviet space program but when the soviet collapse its now used as a cargo plane and its the worlds biggest aeroplane ^^

  • AH-124 Руслан (AN-124 Ruslan )

  • what was the name of the airline?

  • volga dnepr

  • I saw a C 17 today at menifee california. Flying extremely low

  • ya flying in one of the flight patterns to march air reserve base in riverside,ca.

  • I went to sierra leone in 2000 and my unit defended Lungi airport, these monsters used to take of a couple of times a day, impressive, and great shade under the wings!!!! just make sure your awake when it starts up ;-)

  • What a great plane :-).

Always nice to see many spectators. It is a special one indeed

  • When I heard that the Antonov has twice the payload as a C-5 I almost crapped myself. I've been in a C-5 and it's no small plane. That Antonov is one big mother plane!!!

  • The An 225 may have twice the capacity but not the An 124.

  • They also have An-225 and it has a payload of six C-5s

  • Six? No.

  • @zipacna1980 is this meant as a joke?

  • @zipacna1980 not to discount what you are saying, but i would recheck your info before stating it has a payload of six c5s c5 payload is 270,000lbs, the an124 is 330,000lbs clearly not six c5s

  • @jwsmithusaf I was told about a 225 which is twice as big as 124. Even a 124 has a useful load of over 500,000 lbs which is about twice of c-5's. Don't be confused with Wiki or other sources like that because payload is adjustable adding more refueling points which is justified with heavylifting. Well, maybe 6 times more payload with 225 is an exagerration but it is MUCH higher anyway.

  • @zipacna1980 Uh....no.

  • Well, the Russians have a C-5ski. a C-141ski, so when are they going to build a C-17ski?

  • This is ukrainian plane. Ukraine is not Russia. Fortunately, cold war for Ukraine is finished. Ukraine goes on a way of democracy and together with the USA and the European Union struggles against terrorism. The Ukrainian aircraft participates in peace-making operations of NATO. Russia remained stupid and not civilised, applying for murder of citizens methods of KGB and radioactive substances. Many Russian are idiots who are ready to kiss Stalin and his successor Putin.

  • It's build in what is NOW Ukraine, but it was built bu Russians when it was Soviet Union. I'm telling you people, it's as Ukranian as Baikonur is Kazakh :)

And Ukraine is not going for democracy, it's going for whatever but not democracy. If licking US ass is going for domocracy then well... In fact if you read formal def of democracy you'll find that even US doesn't have it just like Sov.Un. didn't have communism.

  • Ukraine didn't bild no An 124 since 1994.

  • Russia remained stupid and uncivilized? AAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Is that coming from a Ukranian? AHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!!! LOOOOOOL!!!! LOOOOOL!! Dude! You gotta warn others before posting stuff like that, I think it's illegal to post such funny things, you could bring down a whole country by making them laughing so hard...

  • hey calm down!, you are so fucking histerycal. cold war is over ,get over it OK???

  • Hey dude... The NATO (and USA too) is the target for the russian nuclear missiles again. You dont know about this?

  • the U.S. wants to place missiles in Poland and Czech Republic, and Russia is the one treathening the U.S. And you talk of NATO as if they were U.N. PEACE KEEPING FORCES or the RED CROSS.

What did they do in the Balkans,"YOU DONT KNOW ABOUT THIS?"

  • In the Balkans is peace now. And I know about this. 10 air defence missiles in Poland and Czech is needed for the security of Europe. And I know about this. I think you are russian Putin's fun. No comment next time. Your brain is damaged.

  • Of course there is "peace" now, you are all very busy in Iraq, and anxious to go to Iran (military invasions in the middle east to bring democracy = BIG revenue for the OIL, ARMAMENT, INFRASTRUCTURE CORPORATIONS that were lobbying as usual for the war).

I am from Argentina, but I live in Florida,USA. I don't like Putin either, but don't give me that bullshit about "democracy" in the U.S.A.

  • Yes, really! I have forgotten! Argentina and Russia - true samples of democracy. Damned Americans have blown up the skyscrapers! And silly Europeans helped them!

  • Looks like this guy is a propaganda man.

  • Made in Ukraine!!

  • Cool plane, giant plane!!!

  • Actually it is slightly bigger than the C5. It is the second largest plane. Russian planes are awesome machines.

  • This is ukrainian plane. Ukraine is not Russia like USA is not Cuba or North Korea.

  • Actually, the airline flying this beast may be Ukranian, but the plane was and is a Russian engineered designed that was manufactured in both Ukraine and Russia during the cold war. In Ukraine the state enterprise (like Cuba or North Korea) Kyiv Aviation Plant AVIANT (Kiev, Ukraine) offers upgrades to the АN-124.

  • Hey folks, if your looking in YOUTUBE, couple of things you should know about 'chican76'; he likes the thought of British soldiers being killed and he makes smart arse remarks about the July 2005 London bus bombings.

  • this was built in former soviet union

  • ya thats about accurate...lil wider tho and shorter...itz pretty much like a c-5 mayb a lil smaller...lots of tires on that mofo lol

  • uhm ... about the same size as the 747

  • real monster

  • WTF¿
