I can remember this well. Didn't Alan have heart trouble or something? Or maybe gave an organ to one of his family members? I STILL miss my Guiding Light. To me these were friends I invited into my home every weekday afternoon from 3 till 4 for 28 years.
i am glad Phillip and Beth got back together. Phillip came back to be the good guy was at one time. I know most of you love Reva and Josh but i don't. Reva made me sick. If GL had stuck to its core famiies(Bauers not Reva) they still may be on today..along with better writing. There was improvement in the last few months.Rick and Phillip BFFs.:>

ITA, this was best and should have been last episode...that whole throwing alan's ashes in the lake by hand was gross...what if alan dust blew all over you????
The song playing when Philip realizes that Alan has passed away? It's a beautiful song,it's called "lump" by Kyler written for her mother who passed away from cancer
I thought there might be a crossover between Guilding Light and Young and the Restless. Could you imagine Alan Spaulding and Spaulding Enterprises vs Victor Newman and Newman Industries, Y&R would rule the soap opera world.
As much as I hate to see Alan dead since he was one my favorite characters in soaps... period. It was a fitting ending for him since the show is coming to an end. This ending was beautiful the acting and the music played has brought me to tears every time I watch it and makes me remember, not that I needed reminding, why I will miss this show and all the characters and wish it was staying on the air.
It figures. After getting away with every crime possible, including murder, Alan Spaulding is done in by one act of totally unselfish goodness. Beautifully played by all, of course.
Damn I cannot believe Alan is dead. So sad. I hated him but to see him end this way... And DAMN CBS for canceling by show. I have watched this show since I was 4 (now 21) and I have grew to love these people like family. I am going to miss the citizens of Springfield just like I miss the citizens of Bay City (AW). Another great soap bites the dust.
The GL final wasnt that great but the final week was awsome. We got alot of closer:-)

I don't get the point of them having to kill him, he could've just gone off or gone on like the others.

I can't believe I cried over this ending! I hated Alan's character for what he did to Tammy. But that ending was so sad.

Thank you again Yodalover. What a great twist with just a few days left. It reminds me of a plot from Six Feet Under.
