Have seen both versions and honestly I found the Japanese one a tad on the silly and cheesy side. The american one was a bit more on a serious note, nonetheless it wasn't all that good. The story could've been expanded way more. For me, neither one is superior to the other.

Eh paranormal activity was like a joke literally . This movie and the ring are allot better in my opinion they have better atmosphere to them. And I think this is the only horror film having to do with a videotape and a girl and a well. Besides the ghost girl in the run series I think her name is sadako. I gave the orginal a 5/10. The acting was alright however i think the remake is a lot scarier compared to this version. I really didn't feel like this version was a big scare cause it was dragged out until the ending. The faces of the victims were some what laughable instead of terrifying, in the remake the faces were scary, the video tape was scary. For me this was kind of bore but there are other amazing Japanese horrors out there
