To be fair, I've owned several macs for over 10 years and I think I've had to restart them maybe two or three times in total... although I'm probably also extremely lucky :)
It's funny because almost every week or so I have to restart my Mac because the damn system update wants me to to download the latest itunes that gives everyone a toothpick or some bullshit.
pc suck i have been though 7 of them two dells(they only lasted about six months) a compacq (or however you spell it, that only lasted a year and HP told me that it was a budget computer. BUT that lasted me the longest) a Toshiba (stopped working the second day i had it NO FUCKING LIE!) a acer (the screen felt cheap and wiggled a little so i took it back to the store) a gateway (i didn't even open that one) and now a sony (i had it 3 or so months, and it is starting to have problems.
@mikepentop I guess you have just bad luck. Had also some Macs failing and some PCs failing. It's just as cars break down. But you're right with the customer support, they get worse as companies like HP put the customer support reps where the wages are low but they lack both the lingual and technical knowledge to really make a diagnose of a certain problem, the Apple stores are a heaven for support (if you're living near them).
@mikepentop i guess if you blow through so many computers, it isnt the computers fault, but your own, the biggest problem of a PC is between the deskchair and and keyboard
@Samoopy I have like 15 games on my mac (Yes game's and not apps), Ive got much more better programs on my mac then when I had a PC, and Mac's are not 5 times more expensive than PC's.

@lilbesho I have the newest iMac and it won't need upgrades in the next decade. You know that's the same lie as your comment. Because there will be new connectors sooner than later, SATA 6G, USB 3 become legacy. When you want to upgrade you can have luck with just a PCIe card. Perhaps they don't deliver the maximum speed of the interface, so you need a new Motherboard and that comes with a new CPU socket so you need a new Processor and new Memory. Conclusion: You buy a new PC. That's the story!
@gentuxable actually no, technology now is progressing slowly especially when it comes to personal computing, u see, usb 2 was released in 2000, and the only big jump in technology was made 2008 when usb 3 came and until now it is not widely used, thats 8 years, the high end user will build a computer to last 5 years, then upgrade to last another 3, and then u can still benefit from your case in the new build, while macs u will need to throw the hole thing away and get another after like 3 years
@lilbesho the case? that's a sub 100$ part if you're not in the modding scene. A PC from 2000 had not SATA, PCIe and not even USB 2.0 what do you want to do with that in 2008. That's just stupid, you even had the 20pin ATX-Connector and lacked the 6pin PCIe connector so you throw away your PSU as well. Normally you'd build a PC and upgrade some RAM and GPU and after approx 4 years you're replacing it selling the old one! And technology isn't progressing slowly but get more integrated.

You can also go to the disk utility and erase crap taking up space on your harddrive or defragment it. It doesn't matter what type of computer you have, it's really the user that determine's the quality and lifespan of the computer (in most cases, anyway--if it's a good quality one).

Hi I am a mac. I just broke. You are going to have to buy mac parts and sent me off to my own company. I only run certain software. My friend PC is an i7 for under $1000. I am also an i7 but I cost over $2000. You have to get a mac mouse for me. They only have one button to click and the start button is in the top corner. My main company is apple. The parts in my computer break after the warranty ends.
@hipstertool69 It assures a clean start of the new drivers and stuff. Most important is that an AntiVir is started first before any malware will be executed. Because you could just write a trojan that can control AntiVir. And when you install AntiVir (with no clean restart) it falls into the hands of the trojan and does whatever it wants (ignores some types of viruses and stuff).
@n4pgamer If you willingly execute a Trojan (or any other malware for that matter) with administrative privelages then it could simply corrupt/disable/remove any anti-malware software installed.

Seriously, I'd rather by the 80$ replacement part that my $500 computer MIGHT need than drop the $1200 on the iMac. That, and screw Apple, they've gotten a bit too full of themselves. My PC I built myself is literally 3 times better than the BEST MAC and was only HALF the price. Whats funny is, when Mac do their presentations, they the mac to the LAST generation stuff to make it look better, you should go look up why mac is overpriced and inferior, there is a chart.
@MegaBlueZOMBIE You don't have to build a custom PC to get those kinds of results. You can get on the HP website right now and get a laptop that is twice as good as the MacBook Pro and 1/3 the price.
@love2liveit what do you mean by everything? sure you don't always get a shiny case, but you do get higher compatibly, expandability/ upgradability, the ability to access free programs that meet or exceed similar programs available on Mac, the ability to play any game, actual built in spyware/ malware/ hacking protection, and the ability to run Windows, any version of Linux, and OSX (like if you'd ever really need to do that)

I think each one has great features, and I believe is not the equipment, is the person using it. For almost 10 years I was a windows user, I loved it -all my teen years full of games with amazing graphics and NO VIRUS- but now I am a graphics guy, making video, art and musi and mac is more suited for it.
I quitted on games -those which get me hanging with the moment at the waiting line are enough 'though I miss some..'- and I have a better performance at the software I use for work.

@jezerstrecht - Oh, one more thing, the Snow Leopard is cheaper because... again... it's designed to only work on Mac computers. Windows 7 is like $120 because it works on anything, which makes sense. It's Mac hardware that isn't really worth it, though...

Malware, and they have a bit more problems because the OS is designed to work on almost any hardware... which, of course, means there's room for compatibility issues. Again, I don't call ALL mac people liars, it's just that one time someone lied that his MacBook Pro could play Crysis on max settings, while we all know its GPU isn't powerful enough to even handle Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
@jezerstrecht - Really, the only upside Macs have to PCs is that the Mac OS X is designed to work only on its own Mac hardware, meaning that it has more control and slightly faster response. Windows is designed to work on any hardware, meaning that it's more likely that there's going to be problems. I really don't like it when people say "Macs just simply work", because PCs "simply work" as well. PCs are more open and you get more bang for your buck with them.

At 1,700€, a laptop should have like 8 GB RAM, a quad-core CPU, an amazing GPU, LED-backlit LCD screen, and so on.

I've got a Mac, and a PC. My PC is fast, but it DOES have to be restarted every now and then. It's susceptible for viruses, it gets blue screens - and it has nothing but problems. My Mac? It's faster, it runs things quicker, it never has issues, no viruses, no blue screens, and I never have to restart it? Don't just say... oh Mac's are overpriced, you get what you pay for!

The Windows OS is designed to work with anything. The Mac OS X is designed to work with a Mac and only its programs. Macs sometimes win in performance with the programs its OS was designed to use, but Windows can simply do more.

@rejuco Then you should of spend it on a superior PC, because Mac(just like anything prebuilt including Alienware) is inferior to custom rig PC which the vast majority of PC users have. My PC I built myself is literally 3 times better than the BEST MAC and was only HALF the price. Whats funny is, when Mac do their presentations, they the mac to the LAST generation stuff to make it look better, you should go look up why mac is overpriced and inferior, there is a chart.

@love2liveit what do you mean by everything? sure you don't always get a shiny case, but you do get higher compatibly, expandability/ upgradability, the ability to access free programs that meet or exceed similar programs available on Mac, the ability to play any game, actual built in spyware/ malware/ hacking protection, and the ability to run Windows, any version of Linux, and OSX (like if you'd ever really need to do that)

I think each one has great features, and I believe is not the equipment, is the person using it. For almost 10 years I was a windows user, I loved it -all my teen years full of games with amazing graphics and NO VIRUS- but now I am a graphics guy, making video, art and musi and mac is more suited for it.
I quitted on games -those which get me hanging with the moment at the waiting line are enough 'though I miss some..'- and I have a better performance at the software I use for work.

@jezerstrecht - Oh, one more thing, the Snow Leopard is cheaper because... again... it's designed to only work on Mac computers. Windows 7 is like $120 because it works on anything, which makes sense. It's Mac hardware that isn't really worth it, though...

Malware, and they have a bit more problems because the OS is designed to work on almost any hardware... which, of course, means there's room for compatibility issues. Again, I don't call ALL mac people liars, it's just that one time someone lied that his MacBook Pro could play Crysis on max settings, while we all know its GPU isn't powerful enough to even handle Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

@jezerstrecht - Really, the only upside Macs have to PCs is that the Mac OS X is designed to work only on its own Mac hardware, meaning that it has more control and slightly faster response. Windows is designed to work on any hardware, meaning that it's more likely that there's going to be problems. I really don't like it when people say "Macs just simply work", because PCs "simply work" as well. PCs are more open and you get more bang for your buck with them.

I've got a Mac, and a PC. My PC is fast, but it DOES have to be restarted every now and then. It's susceptible for viruses, it gets blue screens - and it has nothing but problems. My Mac? It's faster, it runs things quicker, it never has issues, no viruses, no blue screens, and I never have to restart it? Don't just say... oh Mac's are overpriced, you get what you pay for!

@dp33600 - The Windows OS is more expensive because it can be installed on any PC. The Mac OS X is designed to legally only work on a PC built by Apple, in other words, a Mac. That's why it's cheaper.
The Windows OS is designed to work with anything. The Mac OS X is designed to work with a Mac and only its programs. Macs sometimes win in performance with the programs its OS was designed to use, but Windows can simply do more.
