Takes me back... I was a felt-tip drummer, two flat, brass ash trays as cymbals and four old ice cream tubs as drums.. Aha! One of which was half-filled with marbles to create a snare sound... Then I took up bass.
as dana colley indicated earlier, it is a song called "lilah", recorded during the sessions for the album THE NIGHT. apparently it didn't end up there, but that oriental sounding riff eventually became the song "rope on fire"! btw, i think it's great that dana colley is posting here! too bad i never saw you guys live - had you ever been to austria at all?
The "airplane music" that starts about 4:25 is a version of The Night (on the last Morphine album). As far as I know, it is an unreleased version. (A really good one.)
Thank you. My days at BU were helped along by Treat Her Right, and then Morphine came with me back to New Hampshire. Your team sounded great in the video, and you made my night! Laurie, if you read this, I still have the interview I did with you for the BU newpaper in 1985! Keep it, girl! -- Thanks all, and to Mark Sandman, who is greatly missed.
Thanks, Dana. You and Mark and Billy gave the world wonderful gifts. The creative synergy that the 3 of you crafted calms me when I listen to Morphine. It's music that makes me close my eyes and enjoy being wrapped up in, like a warm blanket. And thanks for continuing on - people who persist in doing their amazing work is exactly what we need on this planet.
Thanks for the memories. It feels like AGES ago that we were all sitting and waiting and waiting and waiting at the airport. I can still hear the cheering crowd when Orchestra Morphine hit the stage. Sorry for the blurry concert footage.
yes I should of also mentioned that we were in Rio as well but that was not the purpose of the trip and yes Mark did some traveling in Brazil he loved Brazil and always wanted Morphine to play there but we never got to
Hi Dana, (shit its strange to talk to you in that virtual world)
It would be really cool if you could post the first song, that strange unfindable version of "the night", "lilah" or whatever the name of that amazing, hypnotizing and painfully eargasmic song is.
Thanks very much for your sounds, your rythm, your voice and your style, it is a sweet therapy for our lonely moments.
Holy crap, i didn't realise you were Dana Colley. This is so cool that you post these videos. Thanks so much for all the music man, Morphine is my favourite band and i listen to you guys every day still.
You guys really created some amazing music that will last forever.
Ouro Preto... how could I ever imagine!
It's a very very beautiful town, but also weird: every corner there's a church or a cachaça shop!

Very nice !!! I´ve heard that Mark Sandman lived a few years here in Brazil, and got a job into building constructions. Is this correct ?
Ah, you went to somewhere else with sea. Ouro Preto is a small city of Minas Gerais, and this is a state with no shore.
