You must exit to skyrim and lets you into a courtyard that was previously inaccessible due to a large fence of sorts surrounding the area. From this courtyard you must enter the building on the other side! Jolly good-show! Spiffing!

Gamechap, if you get the chance, look up "Dawnstar hidden chest." It gives you plenty of goodies to help you, including several potions. I was able to use the stuff I found in the chest to max out my Smithing. I haven't even done this quest yet. Be warned, however; I have been attacked several times by Dragons while here.

gamechap during my adventures i went to dawnstar and came upon a hidden chest there,go to the mine in dawnstar go to the entrance but don't go inside and look to your left go between the 3 rocks near the tree and somewhere there it's going to say "search chest" search it and there's really valuable stuff,dont believe me try thumbs up guys plz try it

You need to go outside, I learned that the hard way because I searched around inside for like a half an hour until I realized you're supposed to go out to Skyrim
