It is the job of the coach to teach fundamentals, which obviously the players do not have. Also, he takes the points and kicks the field goal instead of going for it on 4th and goal, and we arent having this conversation.

i've played division 1 football. and you'd be surprised how much kids still screw up. It's always the little things that win or lose a game for you. fumbles and interceptions are a result of the coaches not pushing their kids to have their routes/passes down to an exact science. If the kids run an "ok" route and the coaches say "thats good enough", then come game time it's gonna be picked off every time.

Your explanation does not address fumbles. Also, running a poor route is only ONE thing that may cause an interception. I'll bet the #1 cause of interceptions is a poorly thrown ball.

In the Navy - Notre Dame game, there was an interception that hit one of the receivers square in the back. He never saw it. Later, it was said that he THOUGHT it was a screen play and he was blocking. Who screwed up, the receiver or Clausen?

ok i can't explain in 500 words why every interception or fumble occurs. but in that scenario with clausen, yes it's the coaches fault. It's the coaches job to make sure the guys he's starting on the field know what they're doing all the time.

if the qb or receiver mess up like that in a game, i guarantee you it happens in practice..unless they didn't run that play in practice that week at all...which does happen.

I just talked to a fellow Navy fan, and what he told me leads me to believe even more that Paul Johnson will remain at Navy forever. This fan said that, no matter how much money other schools offer him(even more than 3 million a year), Navy will offer him at least a matching amount. They love him that much!
